Vampire in Brooklyn was directed by Wes Craven and written by Eddie Murphy. The genre of the film is considered a horror-comedy. The horror aspect of the film centers around the usual Vampire gore. Eddie Murphy brings a good round of laughs to the film and makes it very entertaining. Even though the movie is considered a comedy I would say that the Vampire lure is great and creative. The plot of the movie centers around the last surviving vampire from the Caribbean island who arrives in New York in search of a dhampir (an offspring of a vampire and a human). Maximilian initiates a series of sinister methods to pull Rita, into becoming his mate. I enjoyed Angela Bassett's character Rita, because she is half-human and Vampire. She struggles with choosing if she wants to stay human or become one with Maximillian  by becoming a full vampire. All in all, this is a great movie that mixes Caribbean culture and folklore with the Vampire occult.
