5. Compelled

Instead of going to the library, Aragorn got stuck in a meeting, so Legolas went to sit outside for a while. In the shadow of course. He sighed and looked up at the sky. He knew he and Aragorn can't get together. He was immortal, Aragorn wasn't and their fathers won't like it. No, it would be horrible if he tried to make a move.

Later that evening Legolas and Aragorn finally got some spare time, and sat in the library, reading in the same book Legolas found earlier. Candles were lit, and gave the dark room a small glim of light.
Legolas turned the page, and a whole page with more facts about vampires came up.

Interested, he read loud so Aragorn could hear.

"Symptoms if you are in transition:
* Emotions are higher, all emotions come at once.
* You are hungry, you want to feed.
* You can't walk in the sun, or you got a strong headache from it, mostly throbbing around your eyes.
*The herb vervain burns you."

Aragorn frowned. He didn't even knew this book existed until now.

Legolas continued to read.

"If you don't feed under transition you'll..."

He trailed off, too shocked to continue to read. Aragorn frowned and leaned over to read himself.

"If you don't feed under transition you'll die. If you have fed, you are now a vampire."

"Who wrote this?" Aragorn said annoyed and took the book, searching for a name among the papers.
Legolas just stared at the book in
Aragorn's hands, swallowing hard.

"I could have avoided this..."

Aragorn's gaze snapped up.
"What? Have you fed?"

Legolas exhaled shakily and put his face in his hands.

"You hate me now don't you?"
He said, his voice getting muffled by his hands.

"I'm a monster..."

Aragorn dropped the book and embraced Legolas gently.
"No I don't hate you. I think you are strong who gets through this."

Legolas tensed up in Aragorn's arms and let his hands fell to his lap. He forged himself to breath calmly, and closed his eyes.
Leaning against Aragorn he let him hold him. Normally Legolas hated being the one getting hugged and comforted, but now it felt nice.

Then his feelings for Aragorn came to his mind, and he tried to swallow them. The emotions overwhelmed him.

You can't have him. You can't have him. You can't...

He swallowed and rose from the table. Aragorn let his arms fall and looked concerned at the harsh and completely unexpected action of his friend.

Legolas did something Aragorn had never heard him do, he screamed.
He pulled at his hair roughly and screamed before he smashed his fists on the table hard, making a hole right through the thick wood.

"Legolas!" He said and rose from the table. He embraced his friend again as he began to cry.

"The emotions overwhelm me Aragorn...it's too strong."

Aragorn sshed him and held him tighter.

"You'll get through it. You always do."

Legolas leaned his cheek against Aragorn's shoulder, and the sound of his blood pumping reached his ear.

He panicked pulled away once more, and at Aragorn's confused expression he explained.

"I can hear your blood pumping through your body Aragorn..and it drives me insane..I'm so hungry.."

Aragorn swallowed his fear.
"Should we hunt?" He suggested.

Legolas nodded. He needed blood now.

Nodding, Aragorn followed Legolas out of the library. He didn't mind to put the book back, no one visited the library at this hour anyway.

Aragorn prepared to go to Legolas room to grab his bow for him when Legolas spoke up softly, as if not to scare him.

"I don't need a weapon."

Taking a deep breath to calm himself, Aragorn nodded.

They went outside, and walked towards a small forest, the same one Legolas caught a squirrel in.

"Stand there." Legolas said and pointed to a tree further away.
"I need silence."

Nodding, Aragorn walked a few feet away and leaned against the tree.
Legolas quickly heard a sound, and ran away in super speed.

Aragorn blinked and when he opened his eyes Legolas was gone. Alarmed he looked around himself. Where did he go?

As Legolas didn't return in a few minutes Aragorn walked as quietly as he could to find him.

Aragorn stifled a gasp as he saw Legolas.

He sat on his knees, his eyes closed and his teeth deep in the neck of a rein.
He let the empty body drop to the ground with a thud and tilted his head upwards, mouth open and eyes closed in pleasure. The moonlight made the blood on his chin shine, making him look both beautiful and terrifying at the same time.

What alarmed Aragorn was the blood dripping down Legolas chin, and his fangs still visible as he had his mouth open wide.

"Legolas?" He whispered in shock, and Legolas head snapped towards him as he heard his friend's voice crack. His fangs slowly disappeared and his eyes became white once more.
Looking sad, Legolas raised a hand to feel his lips. When he saw the body of the rein his eyes dropped in shame.

Aragorn, too shocked to say anything, just stood there.

Legolas on the other hand, rose from the ground.
"I am so sorry you had to see that.." He said and wiped his mouth like it was natural.

"I am scared Aragorn...I actually enjoyed the hunt this time. I enjoyed to see the fear in it's eyes..."

Aragorn stared at his friend as he stood in front of him, a few feet in between them.

"I know this change your thoughts about me Aragorn."

Aragorn finally snapped out of the shock mode, and shook his head.
"No I...just..I'm just shocked. This isn't you..this isn't the Legolas that is my friend.."

Legolas nodded, looking sad.
"I know...but..I don't have to feed on humans Aragorn. Believe me, I want to, but I don't. I fight the urge..everyday. Every hour."

Aragorn nodded. He knew Legolas would never hurt a man or woman.

"We need to get back..." Legolas whispered and took Aragorn's hand. Surprised by the action, Aragorn blushed and automatically followed him back.

They entered and stopped inside of the walls.

"You go to sleep Aragorn. It has been a long day for you, I'll be fine."

Nodding, Aragorn left the opposite way. He knew Legolas would be fine, he just fed.
Legolas, feeling bored, walked outside again. He walked back to the forest, and looked around himself. It was beautiful here. Such a pity he ruined the beauty.

He heard footsteps and turned around, once more facing the vampire from earlier.

Legolas reached for his bow only to realised he didn't have it. He faced the vampire, and this time he could see his face. He was pale and with blue piercing eyes. Blood was covering his chin and was dripping down his chin.

"I want to help you Legolas Greenleaf...I want to show you who you really are." His voice made Legolas quiver, and he frowned, trying to keep the fear out of his face expression.

"I want you to taste human blood."

Legolas pressed his lips together, trying not to make a rude comments which could get him killed. He couldn't drink human blood. He couldn't. He wouldn't!

"I actually have someone here to see you. A friend of yours I believe."

Legolas made a move to run, but as he turned around the vampire already was there to stop him. He looked annoyed.

"Don't fight it Legolas. I know you want to. You know you want to."

Shaking his head in panic Legolas tried to run again, this time ending up with a hand around his neck.

"Don't fight it!!"

Legolas made a choking sound, and stopped struggling. He didn't know why. He didn't want to. He wanted to run, but somewhere inside he just gave up.

The vampire smirked and released Legolas neck, laughing as he pushed him towards the forest. Legolas followed, almost ashamed that he did. He wanted so badly to run, but the other vampire was so much stronger than he was.

They stopped, and Legolas gasped loudly. A body lay on the ground, her long curly blonde hair around her face. He recognised the dress and immediately tried to run again. The vampire sighed and grabbed his neck again.
He brought him to eye level by lifting him by the neck, making Legolas unable to breath.

"Don't fight it!!" He screamed and looked into his eyes, his pupils expanding and shrinking.

He was compelling him.

Legolas pupils grew bigger, until they shrunk and he was immediately calmer. And hungry.

The vampire smiled proudly and let Legolas neck go, chuckling when he saw the bruise which healed quickly.
"Feed on her Legolas..." He said calmly, still not breaking eye contact.
"When you feed on the first drop of human blood...you won't be able to stop.."

Legolas eyes grew red and his fangs grew, but his calm expression didn't change. He didn't want to. He didn't want to, but his body uncontrollably turned around and lunged itself at Eowyn who lay defenceless on the ground.
