4. Reviling the secret

"What do you mean?" Aragorn asked, clearly confused.

"Aragorn..I'll explain it all, I promise you. But not now." Legolas said and gripped the reins tightly in his hands, making his knuckles go white.

Aragorn clenched his jaw not to say something he would regret. He hated when people shut him out.

"Don't shut me out Legolas!"

"I don't shut you out!"

"You do. My leg is hurting. How about you give me a explanation for this?!"

"How about you shut up!" Legolas screamed, hitting his limits. He didn't even care about Aragorn's leg. He didn't care about anything.

Shocked by the outburst, Aragorn shut his mouth. Legolas never yelled like that. He never has.

Legolas felt how his feelings were stronger. Anger becomes hate. Unanswered love becomes unbearable. He hated it, it felt like he had no control. Then his feelings came back, and so did the guilt.

"I'm sorry..."

That made Aragorn feel more worried. Where did these mood swings come from?

"It's alright Legolas..but..are you alright?"

Legolas wanted so badly to say no.

"Yes."

"Are you sure?"

No.

"Yes."

Nodding, Aragorn didn't say anything more until they reached the stables.
Legolas felt like he wanted to hug Aragorn, so he did. They embraced, and Legolas whispered another 'I'm sorry' in his friend's ear.

Unfortunately his ear was placed just where Aragorn's artery is, and he could hear his blood pumping. He felt a shape pain in his gum, and hesitating rose a hand behind Aragorn's back to feel his fangs grow. He panicked turned away.

"Legolas?" Aragorn asked confused, already missing the warmth Legolas gave him.

"I'm sorry, I need to go."

Legolas ran to his room and locked himself in, not looking back once.
Once he was alone he smashed his fist against the wall with a cry, smashing a hole in the wall.
Shocked he pulled his hand back, and saw the blood pouring from it. The wound was healing in front of his eyes.

He didn't want to be a vampire. He never did.

He was hungry. So hungry. And what scared him was that he wanted blood. He wanted to suck out the blood from Aragorn's body until there was not a single drop left. But he couldn't, because he loved him.

He was a monster.

Shaking his head, he pulled at his hair as heavy tears began to fall.
Breathing hard he ran into the bathroom to wash the tears away. He looked into the mirror, and got stuck.
(Let's say they have mirrors idk if they have) His eyes was red, and the veins around then was visible. Tears soaked his whole face. His pointy ears was just gone. His ears was normal.

He gently touched under his eyes and drew back as it throbbed terribly.
Drawing in a shuddering breath he washed his face, and when he looked up again he was back to normal. His pointy ears was still gone, but he could live with that.

He went to bed, but couldn't fall asleep. Signing he walked outside and sat down on a bench.
He was hungry. So hungry.

Without thinking he ran in super speed towards the forest and easily caught a squirrel. He didn't even think about how messed up the situation is, he was too hungry. He didn't even flinch at the squirrels scared and innocent gaze.
The fangs appeared and his eyes turned red before he desperately bit down and forcefully drained the squirrels body of blood.
When his cravings disappeared and he realised what he just did he dropped the body and raised a shaking hand to wipe his mouth. This was messed up, he knew that, but he didn't feel any remorse.

The next morning he walked towards Aragorn's room. He knew he needed to explain himself, or their relationship would be ruined forever. He needed to tell him...

He knocked three times and waited for him to open, growing more nervous by the second.
Finally the door opened, and when Aragorn saw Legolas he looked grim, trying to hide the relief behind a mask.

"Legolas?"

"Aragorn...I'm sorry...I need to explain myself, please let me."

Nodding, Aragorn motioned for Legolas to come in.
Nodding, Legolas prepared to enter only to get hit by a invisible wall.
He couldn't get inside. Acting casual he leaned against the doorframe.

"Can I come in?"

Looking confused by the obvious question, Aragorn nodded.
"Of course, come in."

Legolas tried again, and his time he could enter without problem. He noticed the room was filled with sunlight and casually asked if he could pull the curtains. This was getting too obvious.
Hesitating, then nodding, Aragorn went and did just that.

He sat down in a chair, and Aragorn sat down on the bed, leaning forward on his elbows.

"What happened on the horse Legolas?"

Hesitating, Legolas bit his lip. He was hungry again...

"I...was too overwhelmed by the loss of Arod and my guards..I'm sorry I took if out on you." Legolas couldn't say the truth. The truth was that his love for Aragorn, along with all other feelings, was stronger.

"Don't apologise Legolas...just answer one question please."

Nodding desperately, Legolas replied.
"Anything."

"Why can't you walk in the sun?"

He must have noticed that Legolas tensed up, because he continued.

"I noticed. Arwén noticed. You wore a cloak Legolas, it's too obvious you can't walk in the sun and I ask you why?"

Sighing, Legolas moved to sit beside Aragorn on he bed. He felt warm from sitting so close to his crush, and took a deep breath.

"I'm gonna tell you the truth Aragorn..please don't leave me for this, I couldn't live with it."

Feeling scared, Aragorn nodded. He wouldn't leave Legolas for anything.

"Of course."

Legolas swallowed before he opened the button around his neck and pulled his cloak off, letting it fall to the bed. Watching every move, Aragorn felt a bit uneasy.

Legolas rose and walked to stand by the curtains, his back to Aragorn.
Watching the blonde hair, Aragorn swallowed nervously. He didn't knew why he felt like this. Legolas was fine now, but what would happen in the sun?

Legolas closed his eyes and grabbed the curtains, preparing himself for the pain. He drew it back, and daylight filled the room.
Even if he opened his arms and welcomed the pain, he screamed as his skin burned, quickly turning red.
After a few seconds the shock was over and Aragorn panicked ran over and closed the curtains.

Legolas weakly fell to the floor, and watched as his skin healed before his eyes. Aragorn kneeled down next to a now sitting Legolas, placing his hands on his knees. He was afraid that if he touched Legolas he would hurt him.

"Why?" He finally asked, and Legolas looked at him. The man could see in amazement when the last of the skin on his face healed.

"I'm a vampire." Legolas said so fast Aragorn blinked in surprise.
"I wanted to badly to kill you yesterday, and that's why I ran off..."

Aragorn stared at his elven friend.
"A vampire?"

Nodding, Legolas looked down. He couldn't look at Aragorn.

"You wanted to kill me...?"

Nodding, Legolas still didn't look up.

"Would you have?"

"No!" Legolas looked up, right into his friend's grey troubled eyes.
"I would never do that."

"So why did you ran away?"

"I .. I was scared that I would.."

"Why didn't you?"

Legolas still didn't look up.
"I care about you."

"Are you ... craving for blood?.."

"Yes! I'm so hungry, I feel like I'm dying." Legolas said and began to bite his nail on his thumb. Maybe to not think about the hunger. He reminded himself that it was Aragorn. He couldn't kill him.

Aragorn looked at his friend in sympathy.
"I never wanted this for you. This is terrible."

It seemed very strange, but he knew Legolas wouldn't lie to him about something like this.

He trusted him.

Legolas looked at him in shock.
"What? Are you really accepting this?"

Aragorn shrugged and tried to smile.
"You're my oldest friend. I have to believe in you."

Legolas looked shocked.
"I could kill you."

"You wouldn't. I know you wouldn't."

"You don't know that."

"Yes I do. You can fight that urge Legolas."

Taking a deep breath, Legolas smiled shakily.
"Would you like to go to the library?"

"Aren't you hungry? They serve breakfast in the kitchen."

Legolas laughed humourlessly.
"The only thing I want and need is blood Aragorn. I'm dead. I don't need food."

Aragorn looked at his friend for a moment, all emotions in his eyes gone. He was scared, Legolas could tell. He sighed before he rose from the floor. He held out a hand for Legolas to take, and they leaved to the library.
