11. Their new life

When Aragorn woke up he gasped loudly. Legolas tested up, and looked down at the head in his lap, gently combing Aragorn's hair back from his eyes. His face was motionless. The man opened his eyes and saw Legolas face hovering above him. He sighed and wiped his face with one hand, before he sat up.
Legolas watched his every move, not saying anything. Aragorn turned to face him.

"How long was I out?"

"2 hours."

"Did you stay the whole time?"

Nodding, Legolas sighed.
"I couldn't leave. They would notice if they found you dead and then suddenly you weren't."

Aragorn swallowed, and gently took Legolas hand.
"Thank you."

Nodding, Legolas looked up at the man.
"Foolish human. Honestly. An eternity of nothing but misery."

"One more thing."

"What?" Legolas snapped, irritated.

"You." Aragorn said calmly and cupped Legolas cheek. The said vampire could do nothing but lean into Aragorn's touch no matter how mad he was, and closed his eyes with a sigh.

Aragorn leaned down to tilt Legolas head upwards, and kissed him.
Their lips fitted together perfectly, but they were startled by a yell.

"Vampire! Vampire!"

They were on their feet in a second, and ran. Legolas ran right behind Aragorn, hearing the guards heavy footsteps right behind him.

Taking Aragorn's hand, he ran in vampire speed out of the city and into the woods. He stopped, but didn't let go of Aragorn's hand. The man looked at him, and their gazes met.

"You won't be coming back." Legolas said simply, and sighed.
Aragorn nodded, but didn't seem sad.

"But I have you."

Legolas slowly shook his head.

"Love is a powerful phenomenon isn't it?"

"Indeed." Aragorn smiled.
"It is."

Smiling sadly, Legolas looked out over the forest. He couldn't deny that he wanted this, now that it's done.

"You need blood to complete the transformation." He said and opened his arm, gesturing towards the forest.

Aragorn understood, and was gone in an instant.

Legolas smiled sadly at the direction Aragorn disappeared to.

Aragorn never knew when he last felt so free. The wind cradled his hair and pulled at his clothes. No responsibilities.
He stopped when he heard something. He looked around and saw a startled bunny, listening carefully for danger. Without thinking he ran and grabbed it, and quickly fed on it. He wanted it over with. He felt the first drops of blood pass his lips, and he wanted to spit it out. Forging it down, he dropped the empty body to the grass.

Legolas appeared from behind a tree, and smiled sadly.
"It's done."

Aragorn rose a shaking hand to wipe his mouth. He stared at the blood covering his palm.

Legolas went over to him and sunk down next to him. He leaned his head against Aragorn's shoulder and sighed deeply. Aragorn lay an arm around his thin waist and held him close as they watched the full moon rise together.

Legolas smiled at the moon, and closed his eyes. Aragorn felt him relax and relaxed against him as well.

"We are free." Looked whispered, making Aragorn smile.

"Yes...but don't think Arwén won't be looking for you."

"I'll be prepared for her."

"Good, but hopefully we'll never see her again." Aragorn swallowed his tears at those words. He felt so emotional.

"Or anyone. We only have each other now."

"And me." They were on their feet at an instant, spinning around in Vampire reflexes.

"What do you want?" Legolas frowned as if hide his fear.
"I promised you Arwén."

Aragorn frowned, but didn't say anything. He knew Legolas had a reason.

"You wouldn't hurt him."

Aragorn understood. Legolas did it to save him.

"I won't." The vampire said, and chuckled.
"I was coming to say goodbye. Another vampire doesn't interest me as long as he hate me. I'm gonna kill the queen, and compel someone to take her place and then I'll kill her in a few years. Just for fun."

Legolas backed one step, but didn't say anything. Aragorn frowned, but was wise enough to hold his mouth shut.

"Farewell."

They blinked, and the vampire was gone.

Aragorn couldn't stop the tears that welled up in his eyes. All emotions came at once. He didn't love Arwén, but he still cared about her.

Legolas lay a comforting hand on his shoulder, and tried to smile.
"I did it to save you. I'm sorry, please forgive me."

"Of course." Aragorn breathed and cupped Legolas cheek.
"I just feel emotionally unstable."

"That's normal in transition." Legolas swallowed hard.

"Right..." Aragorn said and looked behind his shoulder as a bunny ran past them.

"Aragorn..." The man looked up.

"Relax...every sound isn't danger. We're safe."

Nodding, Aragorn forged himself to believe Legolas. He became a vampire before him after all.

"Should we sleep?"

Legolas smiled.
"We don't need to. If you're tired...catch a rabbit."

Aragorn frowned.
"Right."

Legolas smiled sarcastically.
"I know it sounds crazy. You'll get used to it. Because I'll teach you."

Legolas raised a hand and combed Aragorn hair gently, stuffing it behind his ear. Aragorn looked into the calm blue eyes, and felt a smile grow on his lips.

"I know."

Smiling, Legolas leaned in to kiss him. Their lips melted together, and Aragorn's tongue immediately tried to dominate Legolas. They ended up against a tree, kissing madly.

Being ridiculously horny was also a part of being a vampire.

An few hours later Legolas sat under a tree, protecting himself from the sun.
Aragorn sat beside him, and they talked.
About anything really, they didn't have much to do when the sun shined.

The sun went down, and they went out to hunt. They caught a deer together, and shared it. Legolas smiling rose a hand to wipe blood from Aragorn cheek, making him chuckle.

"I'm new at this...and I hated this...but now I feel the craving.."

"If we feed a few times a week we'll be fine." Legolas smiled.
"We just need to stay away from people, and make sure to bury the bodies. If people find them they'll know we're close."

Nodding, Aragorn rose and grabbed the lifeless body of the deer. They dig a hole with a big rock and trowed the body in. They covered it, and Aragorn sighed.

"Such a shame to kill innocent animals."

"It is, but we have no choice."

Nodding, Aragorn followed Legolas back to their tree. They climbed up and sat on a big branch, looking out over the forest.

The sky was filled with beautiful colours, going darker behind the trees. Stars were visible.

"We'll survive, but promise me one thing Aragorn."

"What shall I promise?"

"Never feed on humans."

Aragorn smiled a small smiled and lay his arm around Legolas shoulders.

"Never."

"Good."

Legolas leaned against him and closed his eyes. Aragorn looked out over the forest, and at that moment he didn't regret anything. This was his new life, and he was gonna live it.
