I decided to take a sroll on a path in the woods tonight to clear my head. Unfortunately I was not able to go alone since for once, the Government actually seemed to care about every citizen's safety and enforced a rule that demanded a member of the Hunter association to accompany any citizen that leaves the city. Luckily, my guard happened to be a cherished friend of mine, Zero. I have known him since childhood. He was not one of the people who were taken away to be trained to become a Hunter since he joined long before that, but he had been part of the experiments that had been taken place in those labs. Yes, just like Kaname, he once was a lab rat. Those science freaks probably called Zero a failed experiment. No matter how many times they attempted to make him turn to the dark side, half of his humanity still remained. It meant that he could eat both food and blood but he was still require to consume some blood to stay healthy. Normally, failed experiments would immediately be dealt with, if you know what I mean but he somehow managed to escape unharmed. I hear that an assassin had once attempted to get ride of the evidence of the failed experiments, in other words Zero. Before he could strike his first and finishing blow an elderly woman nearby had spotted him and his intentions and screamed which of course caused a commotion. Before he could get spotted the assassin disappeared into the shadows in a sinister manner. That is what I heard I've never asked him directly. After all the torment he had been through you'd think that he would become quite scared of any sort of danger but in the contrary it made him strong. He hated the inhuman part of himself and directed his hatred towards the Vampires, not the Government even though they're the ones who made him that way. Ever since the moment he became who he is, he became a Hunter. Apparently, no training was needed in order for him to become one since his physic and mental abilities increased considerably when he became a half Vampire. Because he still needed blood to survive, one of his colleagues in the science department developed blood pills for him which were made using synthesized blood as a welcome gift for Zero.

"Swoosh" that noise from the bushes was enough to snap to reality. That's when I saw it, a figure like shadow jumping out of the bushes. Zero rushes to my side and ordered me to stay back with a stern voice. I did as he ordered and peaked through his shoulder only to see a pair of scarlet eyes suddenly appear through the darkness closing in on us. "Vampire" was all I managed to say as my body trembled in fear.

I am now behind a tree watching the scene unfolding before me. Although not much could be seen. All that my eyes could manage to catch were shadows going after one another and from time to time I could hear loud blows being made. From what I could make sense of the two shadows, Zero and that Vampire seemed to be equals until the Vampire managed to hurt Zero giving the Vampire an opportunity to go after me. Filled with fear I quickly closes my eyes awaiting for the pain that would surge through my body. A moment had passed and I decided to open my eyes slowly to take a peek and see what had prevented my death. The first thing I saw were pointy claws that had stopped a centimeter away from my neck. I didn't look at my attacker in fear that it would trigger Jim to attack until I heard something disturbing yet familiar. " M-Miaka?"
