Chapter 1

Night comes once again. I wake up alone and depressed. I really need a friend. Maybe one of these days, some idiot may come to my house. That person will die and be reborn. I walk over to my window and look out into the dark, moonlit night, grinning at the thought of a new friend.

"Lucifer! Get up, you're going to be late for school!" My mother yells up the stairs. I pull myself out from under my warm blankets. Even though it is 80 degrees out, its freezing in my house. My mom likes to keep it cool in the house, but for some reason my room gets the coldest.

"Lucifer! You up?" My mom yelled again. I sat up and walked over to my open door.

"Alright, I'm up!" I yelled back. I walked over to my closet and pulled a pair of black skinny jeans from a hanger. I then looked through the shirts I had hung up and chose a black and white stripped shirt. I closed my closet and walked into the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and combed my lilac hair. My hair went down neatly to my mid-back. I looked myself over one last time before I left the bathroom, my sapphire blue eyes sparkling in the morning sunlight that comes through my window.

"It's finally Friday!" I say to myself. Last day of school before the weekend. Then the next week is the final week before summer. Best part of next week is that there is only three days. Worst part, all three days we have test all day.

I walk down stairs and meet my mom in the kitchen. She had made toast and eggs while I was getting ready. I quickly eat then put my plate in the sink.

"Thanks for breakfast Mom." I say as I hug her. I grab my book bag from the living room and head out the door.

"Have a good day!" my mom yells after me. I nod and close the door. My two best friends were waiting for me. Kate, the one with rose pink eyes and hair, and Kim, the other who has emerald eyes and light brown hair. They both wore jean shorts, Kate's was dark blue and Kim's were black. They both wore black shirts with different designs. Kate's had a galaxy and space theme while Kim's had a skull on the middle.

"Hey Lucy, were going to be late! Come on!" Kate yelled at me.

"Sorry...I overslept." I apologized while scratching the back of my head.

"Well at least you aren't any later, lets go already." Kim said, slightly annoyed.

We walked in silence for a bit. On our way to school we always pass this abandoned house. Kate and Kim would always speed up and not look at it. They believe the stupid rumors that a monster lives in that house. I don't believed it. There is no such thing as a monster. Just a scary story parents tell their children so they never go into places they shouldn't. Once we were about two blocks away, Kate started a small chat.

"So Kim, what are you doing this weekend?" Kate asked. Kim thought for a moment then replied.

"Nothing really. Probably just watch tv." she replied. Kate nodded then turned to me.

"Why about you Lucy?" She asked me. I shrugged.

"I don't know yet. Maybe I'll explore the woods or something." I replied. now that I think about it...I may explore that abandoned house. Before I could finish my thought, we arrived at school. The hell of my life.

The first five periods went slowly. Boring classes I don't even care about. I still pay attention though, so my mom won't ground me. A life of a sophomore is somewhat easy. They said after Freshmen year things become more challenging. So far that is false. Lunch comes around sixth period and I sit with Kim and Kate.

"Guys...I figured out what I'm doing this weekend. I am going to prove the rumor of a monster in that house wrong. I will be exploring it tomorrow." I tell them. Thy stare at me, wide-eyed for a few minutes. I would have thought time froze if it wasn't for the loud chatter from other tables.

"Are you crazy!?" Kate partly yelled. I shook my head.

"You shouldn't go." Kim said. I rolled my eyes.

"There isn't any monster. It's just a stupid story told to children." I told them.

"No, there is truth in the story. Listen carefully." Kim said. She began the story I have heard numerous times.

"One day a little girl had wandered into a house so empty that nothing could hide. She wandered around until she felt a feeling of something else was with her. She turned to face the creature. Fangs hung from the open maw. Claws were pointed at her, aiming for her chest. She looked into the creatures blood red eyes, letting out one last yelp of fear before her life ended."

"Do you understand the truths in this story?" Kate asked. I rolled my eyes.

"No. It's just a made up story to go with a house no one can buy." I say annoyed. Kim sighed and Kate just shook her head.

"Fine, we'll go with you." Kate said.

"But we won't go into that house!" Kim said.

"Alright. I wasn't going to force you to go in. I just wanted someone who could help in case I fell through a floor or something." I told them. They nodded and that's when the bell rang.

"Ok we'll meet at my house at noon." I told them. They nodded and we went our separate ways to finish the school day. Once the final bell rang, I met them outside the school and we began to plan what we need to take.

"Ok, so you should take a first aid kit." Kim started.

"And make sure your cell phone is charged." Kate said. I was writing all this down on my phone.

"Ok anything else?" I asked. They got quiet.

"Oh...a flashlight incase you encounter a dark room." Kate said. I nodded and wrote it down.

"I believe that's all you'll need." Kim said. By this time we arrived at the gate to the abandoned house. I stopped and looked toward the house.

"Tomorrow the truth will be revealed." I said to myself, grinning.

I hear someone outside my house. I walked over to a window and peeled the blinds back slightly and looked out. Is that girl coming into my home? If I heard correctly, they were making a list of supplies. Perfect...I may finally get a friend. I grinned while looking at the girl with lilac hair. Soon!

We finally reached my house. I waved bye as my friends continued walking to their homes. I was greeted by my mother.

"Welcome home Lucifer." She said and I hugged her.

"Thanks. Mom, Kim, Kate and I were going to meet here tomorrow to go explore the woods. Is that ok?" I asked.

"Sure, just be safe." she agreed.

"Thanks!" I said then ran upstairs to pack the supplies in an old string bag. "Alright, now I'm ready." I relaxed the rest of the day, ate dinner then went to bed early. I made sure to plug my phone in before I fell asleep. Tomorrow is the day I prove the whole town wrong.
