Chapter 7 - Archery
I felt Ro zoom back into my body, energizing me. I took off my blazer and opened my ponytail again. Jeremy threw another set of arrows with a different color, and i walked to the right side of the court, while he took the other side. But before we could start, he said, "I challenge you to a blindfold battle. You have 10 arrows. And there are 10 fruits places 30 meters away from you. Shoot a number of fruits more than me, and I'll let you go." and he smirked, which probably meant that it would be impossible for me. They put a blindfold around my eyes, blocking my view completely. "3...2...1...GO!!!" i heard them say, and i took out one arrow, aimed it using the senses Gabriel had taught me, and let it go. I could hear whispers in the crowd, which felt louder than usual. You got this Rose. Just trust yourself. said Ro in my head. "Oh why wouldn't i trust myself Ro?" I replied back, and gave a small smile. For my second shot, i took out 2 arrows, and shot them again, hearing the sound of few cheers. At last i had just one arrow left. I slowly moved backwards, aimed the bow and arrow into the sky. It was a new trick Gabriel had taught me. Shooting into the sky, but the arrow or whatever you use, hitting the target on-the-spot. I let it go, and ripped off my blindfold, only to see that my arrow had just pierced the center of a watermelon, which split open onto the ground.
At this, the bleachers erupted to cheers and some of them cheered my name. "Rose! Rose! Rose!" but Jeremy and few of the girls scowled at me. Jeremy knew he had lost because he had been able to hit just 8 of the fruits, while i hit all. I went back to Luna and Oscar who congratulated me. That night, after the dinner at the hall, Vice Principal Dominique stood up. "We have sorted the new students to your houses!" The hall went silent. She read out a few names, along with their new houses, to which each house cheered. Finally when she came down to mine, "Rosemary Kingsway, RUBY!" and the entire Ruby table jumped to congratulate me. After we left with our suitcases from class to the dorm building, Oscar said that he had to go to some teacher about something, so he left. "Is there something you're not good at?" Luna asked me as we were discussing about the archery match again. The sky had already darkened. "Well, i am good at throwing knives to the targets." I said. "Oh she sure is!" said a drawling voice approaching us. It couldn't be...Peter!
