Chapter 10 - Crossing the boundary, just a little way

I avoided talking to anyone for the remaining days of that week except Damian. He was actually a great guy, and we had quite a lot of fun talking about subjects. Luna knew that something was terribly wrong with me, so she told Oscar not to make any comments about it. But the next day, I had told them both why i was upset.

On Friday evening, when i had just finished up some of my Math homework, looking at the time, i changed into a sportier outfit. "Luna, I'm going out."

"Cool, where?" she asked, looking up from her phone. "Damian invited me for a paintball match." She wiggled her eyebrows at me and I rolled my eyes and went out the door. I saw the two annoying guys and Damian downstairs. "Yeah, i better introduce these two idiots to you before we go. Rose, this is Finn and Roland. Guys, this is Rose, and you better call her that, or I'll deal with you." they both decided that it's better to not mess with Damian and had stopped referring to Luna as 'Loony'.

I walked with them, next to Damian. "I didn't expect that you were that stern." i told him. "Well, i don't exactly like it when i see someone bullying someone else. Some people who don't know me yet, may think that I'm a typical bad-boy, but once they get to know me, i hope that they're surprised." he said, turning his hazel eyes to me. I smiled at him, still not saying anything, because my brain was still calculating how i was going to get Ro out of the Divergent realm again. The lucky thing is that only Gabriel can see her, and no one else. So she was still safe. Few members of other houses were coming in from all directions. I could see some girls, who were rather giggly, pointing in Damian's direction and it slightly hit me for some reason. Either way, the sports teacher came in with few students helping him carry a bag filled with paintball guns. "Now, you'll be setting off as pairs! I want a fair play! Whoever gets shot within the open lawn while getting their house color flags, you're out!" and me and Damian set off into the woods, quite deep to be precise. When we reached a wall, i turned to him. He was looking around the area, in case to spot any other players.

"What's this wall?" i asked. "Oh I don't know, but i do know that when this school was built, this wall too was built. Nobody's ever been able to cross it at all! I heard that it's actually the entrance to another world!" he said. "Oh really? Where'd you read that?" i asked, trying not to sound too obvious. "One day, i was in the library, when i saw book open in the farthest corner of the room. If i remember, the book was called 'The Two Realms' and it was written by someone called Gabriel...Gabriel Winston or someone." I was shocked at his words. I froze and turned completely. "Gabriel Winston? Are you sure?" I asked again. "Yeah why?"

"Can you show me that book?" "Yeah, if i can find it again." I nodded. "How good are you at climbing?" I asked and tightened my gun, which was filled with balls of red colored paint, over my shoulder and started climbing up an ancient tree whose leaves where slowly rustling in the breeze. "Not very good. Gosh I can't even see you! You keep watch from there, I'll watch from down here." and through my sharp ears, i heard Damian walk away. I didn't keep a lookout though, cuz i had more pressing matters. I turned to the wall slowly, while sitting a branch, and put my hand through the air in front of me, hoping to feel some kind of invisible thing. Me being very light, gave me an advantage that the branch didn't bend much as i sat there. At last i found it. I was searching the Dome stopping humans from moving further. I closed my eyes pointed my palms towards the front, and said "Wherever you are, come back to me." and a thin strip of white light came out my head and went beyond the wall for a very long way, until it caught something, and then i tried pulling it back towards me. I could see Ro trying to float faster. ROSE! You found me! and she floated straight into me, filling me with energy. "Hey Ro! Wanna paintball?" I asked with a smile. Oh let's go!

Cautiously, I jumped down from the tree noiselessly, and decided to find Damian. I could hear leaves being stepped on my far left. I turned and found Damian trying not to make sounds. "You do realize that the more you try not to make noise, the more you actually make noise?" I asked with a sly grin.

"It was worth a shot." he replied. "Okay i shot two players who were trying to get their flag."

"Great, I have a plan. You go get the flag. I'll protect you from getting hit." and i held out my palm motioning him to give his gun to me. "Wait you're serious? Do you promise?" he asked, slowly taking off his gun. "Just trust me. Let's go." We went to the edge of the woods, into a clearing. Damian looked back at me and I gave him a reassuring smile. Looking right and left like he was trying to cross a road, he slowly stepped out. I positioned the guns behind a bush, my eyes looking sharply in all directions. In the front, i spotted one shooter aiming his gun towards Damian. "Oh no you don't" i said, and shot him straight on his forehead. I smirked and got ready for the next shot, when Damian shouted, "I GOT IT!" and i ran towards him, who pulled me up into a hug. I froze. AWWWWWWW!!!!! I heard Ro shout loudly in my head. But I couldn't help hugging back. I felt like i was a normal human for just a minute, but even that minute was amazing...
