Chapter Twenty-Three
Chapter Twenty-Three
You were sitting down in Sara's front room, it was rather big but not as big as the Kuran Family Home. Zero was sat next to you, refusing to leave your side for even a second in the presence of Sara.
She poured the tea in front of you both as you looked around, you were making it seem like you were enjoying looking at the decor; but what you actually was doing was searching for the book.
It annoyed you how Yagari didn't explain what it looked like but you at least had Zero with you who might know what he's looking for.
"You've got a lovely home Sara." You smiled at her, she smiled up at you and thanked you concentrating on pouring the tea.
She slides you and Zero a cup and then took a sip out of her own. "So, what's the deal with you two? He is after all a Level E, Elissa." She questioned tilting her head a little. You looked at Zero and sighed.
"He's never going to fall to a Level E, he's important to me. We were childhood friends."
"Back when you were human I'm guessing?" Sara questioned and you nodded.
"Would you like a tour of the house?" She smiled and you nodded.
"Of course, I'd love to see more of it. This room is so pretty. The decor we have I've always found a little bit plain. But Kaname likes it so we've never changed it. It holds sentimental value too."
Sara smiled and stood up, "I understand completely what you mean. Kaname has always taken simplicity over extravaganza things. He always told me he likes to find the beauty in simplicity." Sara chuckled leading you and Zero off to a door. She opened it and it opened up a wide long hallway.
She walked ahead as you followed with Zero. She showed you most of the rooms and Zero stopped in front of a door that Sara walked past. You looked back to him and he was staring at the door. You looked over to Sara, "Sara, what's in that door? You walked right past it." You asked slyly, pointing to Zero and she looked back and smiled.
"It's my mother's and fathers study. I never really open it, it reminds me of them so I can't bare to go inside." Sara explained and she turned, you emphasised with her knowing how it felt to be reminded of people you lost. You always hated the feeling, it stung worse than anything. You didn't want to pry open Sara's feelings but you had no choice. Zero clearly sensed something.
"Forgive me for asking this Sara, but what were they like?" You asked and Sara stopped in her tracks. She turned to you slowly.
"They... They were kind, but very strict. I lost them at a very young age. Similar to you I imagine." Sara explained her last sentence seeming somewhat bitter.
"Excuse me?" You asked a nerve clearly struck. "What do you mean?"
"Oh, your parents were victims of suicide too right?"
"Actually no, my parents were murdered by my uncle." You told her defensively, feeling angry she was trying to attempt to tarnish your parents names and reputation.
"Your uncle? Hmm, Kaname told a different story."
"To protect Yuuki and I."
"It would seem so..." She nodded and took your hands, "Forgive me, I've always believed Kaname." She smiled and you nodded slowly.
"Come with me, Zero you can do what you like in the meantime. I want some girl to girl talk with Elissa." Sara smiled and took off with you. It made you feel uneasy, you just hoped with the distraction of you Zero would get in the door.
She opened a door and pulled you inside, she closed the door and locked it making you very aware of what she was now doing. Sara walked over to you and smiled, but something had changed. It wasn't the same smile she'd normally wear.
"Us purebloods need to stick together. We have so little purpose with an eternal life. But I've found my purpose Elissa. I want want know what your purpose is too." She walked towards the window opening the curtains up.
You looked around the room, it was a bedroom. There was a desk in the room and on it was a book on its own next to several others. The room was well decorated with other furniture and it didn't take you long to figure out you were probably in Sara's room.
You looked to Sara, her back to you as she peacefully stared out of the window, "My purpose?"
"Yes, why do you live? Many purebloods get bored with their lives or they've lived for so long they just want everything to end. That's what my parents did. They ended it all even if I was so young."
"I'm sorry your parents left you like that... It sounds awful." You stated a little saddened by her truth.
"Yes, it was sad at the time but I'm over it. It made me harden my shell. Now, tell me your purpose that makes you want to keep living." She turned to you and you sighed.
"My purpose for living would have to be the ones I love. Kaname, Yuuki, Zero, my Father... and my friends I've made at the academy. If I was to just disappear I'm sure they'd be upset."
"I gathered you'd say as much."
"What's yours?"
"I want to become the pureblood Queen." She stated and you looked over to her as she glared at you.
"The pureblood Queen?" You questioned walking over to the desk to get a better look at the books.
"Yes, you should know that the person who marries Kaname gets that title."
"So that's going to be my title one day?" You questioned and she glared more at your words. You looked down at the book and realised that the book you found was actually the spell book. You could tell as it had the hunters association crest on its front.
"Unless you don't marry Kaname." She explained, you took hold of the book and she laughed at you.
"This is from the association... Why did you take it?"
You looked over to her but she was already by your side. She pushed you against the wall and laughed.
"Surely, you're smart enough to realise that."
"You're working with him aren't you?"
"Correction, he's working with me. I knew once I explained my plan to him he'd want in immediately and that's exactly what he wanted. Under the bracelet he can make you a mindless puppet and I can finally take my rightful place as Queen of the Purebloods. Don't you see? You're just a means to an end." Sara explained, her voice was filled with hatred. She looked like a psycho the way she smiled eagerly at you.
"Kaname wouldn't marry you though."
"Honey, I've known him longer than you have. I think he would if you had shown interest in another or even if you'd have died. He'd have no choice, I'm the only other candidate than you and your sister. But Kaname specifically wants you, my plan is foolproof."
"Other than the fact the hunters know you took the book. Zero!!" You yelled out and she laughed.
"Oh I bet they do, do you really think I care about hunters? I can crush them all without lifting a finger. Though I've never tried crushing another pureblood so this will be fun." She chuckled and her hand pierced through your shoulder, making you let out a screech of pain.
You grabbed your staff and activated it. You placed it around her neck and glared at her. "Stand down now or you leave me no choice but to use this."
"I dare you." She stated and her curtains set itself on fire but it was clearly Sara's powers.
The door got broke open and in the doorway stood a very angry looking Kaname and Zero. They moved into the room and glared at Sara. "What's the meaning of this Sara?" Kanane asked, his voice sounded low but calm and that scared you even more. Not for your sake but for Sara's. To be quite Frank you were surprised they hadn't attacked her.
"She attacked me. I had no choice." Sara chuckled nervously at him and that's when you threw the book over to them. It landed just in front of their feet.
"That's the book." Zero nodded pulling out his bloody rose and aiming it at her.
"Zero, you could shoot Elissa with that. You know the bloody rose pierces straight through." Kaname warned and Zero sighed lowering the gun. He knew Kaname was right, it was Kaname's battle.
Zero picked the book up and held onto it as Sara turned back to you with a psychotic look on her face again. "You ruined everything!" She yelled as she went to pierce you again but got blasted by Kaname.
She let out a scream and let go of you, making you retract your weapon from her neck as she stumbled backwards. You put your staff away again and grabbed your shoulder wincing as it healed. Kaname came over to check it and by the time he did it had healed over.
"Are you alright Elissa?" Kaname asked softly hugging you tightly. You hugged him back and nodded.
"I'm fine, let's just get to the association."
"Alright, Zero you can grab Sara. Let's go." Kanane told him and he nodded.
He aimed the bloody rose at Sara as he knew if he touched her forcefully his abilities would get locked up. You noticed that and told Kaname to keep hold of her to stop her from running away.
