A little bit of an authors note here, everyone was waiting for a new book and I'm finally able to post it. I hope you like this one. Generally I've created Elissa to be the readers character but you are able to change her if you wish to, so if you want to change the name just replace her name with whatever name you want whether it's your own or not in the sentence. This chapter is about setting the scene. It's in third person but the book will generally be in your POV, with maybe some switches to third person where Kaname and Zero are concerned.

Chapter one

"Elissa, are you hungry?" The headmaster asked her. She was another adopted daughter of Kaien Cross. Her and Yuki shared a past together, she knew that much. They had both been saved by Kaname Kuran. Yuki was always fond of him whereas Elissa found him suspicious. She wasn't sure at all whether he could be trusted. Yuki was Elissa's sister, they had been found together. Elissa was older than Yuki so she had been found trying to protect her as best she could. As soon as Kaname had shown up that day, Yuki had pretty much entrusted her life to him.

She hadn't had much of an appetite recently. She hadn't been sleeping properly, Yuki had always been one for running off and getting into trouble. Although she had her Artemis with her most of the time, she still ended up becoming overpowered. Elissa was without a doubt much stronger than Yuki was.

"Elissa?" Kaien asked her, breaking her trance from staring at the food. She looked up at him and he had a concerned look on his face. She sighed and stood up leaving the room. Yuki, Kaien and Zero watched her leave saying nothing.

Elissa had grabbed her vampire hunter weapon and exited the dorm. She was going to do patrol, been so Yuki hadn't been in a fit state recently to do it. She walked towards the school the night class was in session.

She ended up on the rooftop and sat on the side, Kaname was in view. She found herself staring at him, he was a beautiful creature. No wonder all the other vampires liked him so much. Not just that he was a pureblood too.

Just who are you to me and Yuki? Kaname Kuran... A pureblood who saves two innocent young girls from being killed by amother vampire; just why did he do it? Was he planning something for them?

"Hey, you know he'll catch you staring." Elissa heard a familiar voice and a hand landed on her head to snap her out of it.

"I'm sorry, I was just thinking." She apologised to him. He looked at her as if he was studying her features to remember them if he was to paint a picture of her.

"Yuki isn't doing much better, she's eaten something so that's good." He informed her  which made her smile. Then she realised his hand was flat on her head as if patting it.

"That's good, I don't know what's wrong with her. She's suddenly acting strange. I'm getting worried," She told him, then looked up at him. "Zero, you've always been good to her. Thank you for that."

Zero's eyes widened a little, "Now you're the one whose acting strange."

"I guess I am, I'm sorry. I just don't know why but my apetite has completely gone. Maybe because it's the day of that night Kaname saved us, maybe not. I don't know, one thing I know is that Kaname had something to do with our past. I'm going to ask him about it tonight."

Elissa was sure she would get the answer Yuki has been trying to get from Kaname. Yuki had been making herself ill trying to find out and Elissa had watched and had enough of Kaname thinking what he was doing was okay to do to her. Elissa wasn't taking no for an answer. Yuki even had Yori worried about her as she kept screaming and waking up in night. Yori had told Zero and Elissa about it cause she was so worried. Eventually the headmaster had moved Yuki to the private headquarters where Elissa was sharing a room with her.

Zero suddenly pulled Elissa in for a hug, he had his arms around her tightly. "Just stay safe okay? I don't trust Kuran as far as I can throw him. He's planning something I can sense it." Elissa wrapped her arms around Zero, hugging him tightly back. Zero was her best friend, she and him had grown close due to the lack of trust in Kaname where Yuki was oblivious to. Elissa would never forget the day Kaname had met Zero and had nearly hurt Yuki. Zero had sensed Kaname was a pureblood and ran up to him and stabbed him. Yuki nearly got in the way but Kaname acted quickly to shield her. Later that night, Zero wouldn't see anyone but Elissa had managed to get her way into his room to check on him. That was the start of their friendship.

Zero started to tremble and Elissa looked up at him, his eyes were red. Zero had been feeding off of her and Yuki since he had turned to help his thirst. Elissa and Yuki were trying their best to hide that from Kaname. Zero bent down and put his head on her shoulder. Elissa hugged him putting her arms around his neck to shield what he was about to do from Kaname. She felt Zeros fangs pierce the skin on her neck and she looked up at the sky. The stars were out and the moon. It then started snowing. She could hear Zero drinking her blood, until he pulled away. She had reached into her pocket to grab a plaster to stick on it for now. She had quickly put it on, Zero wiped his mouth and looked at her. He hated doing this with her and Yuki. He felt like he was being a burden to them.

Elissa looked back at Zero and she smiled a little, "Its fine, if it's you it's fine." Elissa told him and he widened his eyes a little at this. She had looked at the window to see if the class was still in session and found Kaname gone. It was go time. She had to find him quickly. She turned around to go and find Kaname but she didn't have to. He was standing on the roof top with her and Zero. Kaname wasn't in his night class uniform though, he had a black coat on with a white blouse, black trousers and his normal black shoes. He stared at Zero with such hatred, he walked towards him and grabbed him by the throat, swinging him to the ground whilst Zero aimed the gun at Kaname's head.

"You filthy level E, you have no right taking her blood like you did." Kaname told him, anger clearly in his voice. She stared at the scene trembling, Kaname had never expressed himself this way in front of her or Yuki. If Yuki had seen this she probably wouldn't have gone near Kaname again. Elissa felt the fear she had felt trying to protect Yuki from the vampire all those years ago. She was confused as to why Kaname was so angry with him.

"She said it was alright, so stop sticking your nose in where it doesn't belong, pureblood." Zero said back hatred clearly in his voice.

"You don't deserve the blood of-" Kaname had stopped himself, feeling the presence of Elissa behind him. "I should kill you, but I won't as Elissa would never forgive me if I did, and neither would Yuki."

"Am I supposed to be complemented by that Kuran?" Zero asked, pulling the safety off of his bloody rose.

"Zero don't! I still need answers from him!" Elissa exclaimed at him which made him lower his gun. Kaname stood up and made his way over to Elissa. She stood watching him approach her, he reached out to her but she had stepped away. Kaname lowered his arm and looked at her. He had such sadness and loneliness in them.

"You're afraid of me now Elissa?" Kaname asked her, but she shook her head no. "You backed away from me."

"I need to speak with you Kaname." She told him and he smiled a little. He always looked so sad.

"That is rather fortunate, as I need to speak with you also." Kaname told her and she looked at him a little concerned.

He held his hand out for her to take and she did hesitantly. He turned to Zero and picked Elissa up in a bridal style, she was shocked at this and protested a little.

Zero watched this with hatred in his eyes, Kaname stood with her in his arms for a minute before speaking out to him.

"You needn't look at us with such worried eyes Zero. From now on, Elissa and Yuki are my responsibility." He told him and Elissa stared at Kaname confused. Just what did he mean by that?

"What are you talking about Kuran?" Zero asked bitterly.

"You have been good and protected them well. However, you will not betray them." Kaname had told him and used his powers to make the snow fly into his face making Zero look away and cover his eyes. Elissa held onto Kaname so she didn't get attacked by the snow as he teleported away with her.

They were on the roof of the clock tower but not at the top of it. He put her down on the floor and she stood staring out in the horizon. It was a nice view of the trees starting to get covered with the snow. Kaname stood near her watching her.

"What did you want to talk about Elissa? I think you should talk before I do." Kaname told her and she looked over at him.

"Yuki... She isn't herself, she needs answers to her past. She's scared out of her mind. Kaname you have something to do with our past, I know you do. I sense it when you look at us. I want to know who you are to us... before it drives Yuki mad." She explained to him. He sighed.

"Are you sure you want that answer?" Kaname asked her and she thought about it for a moment before nodding. "Then stay here for just a moment longer. I'll be back in a minute." Kaname told her and she nodded, he left and she started to feel a little cold. A few minutes went by before he returned with Yuki laying limp in his arms. She ran over to them, taking Yuki from him.

"What happened?!" She asked moving Yuki's hair out of her face. She stopped when she realised how peaceful she had looked. She smiled a little at it, she couldn't remember the last time she had seen her peacefully sleeping.

"I put her to sleep, she'll wake in a few minutes. It won't hold her under for long," Kaname explained taking Yuki and putting her up against a wall. He walked back to Elissa caressing the ends of her long brown hair. He looked in her blue eyes and continued talking. "You want the answer to your question do you not?" He asked as she looked back out to the horizon.

She looked out before sighing, she was nervous about what he was going to tell her, "Yes I do Kaname."

"Very well." He said and he walked behind her, she felt his arms wrap around her holding her in place. She started trembling at what he was going to do to her, she felt him lick her neck and she knew exactly what he was going to do. She couldn't even grab her weapon to stop him. Her heart had sunken to her stomach and she thought she was going to be sick. She was scared. How she wanted Zero to come and save her from this moment.

"Kaname! Stop! Don't do it! Zero will never forgive you! He'll hate me! Please don't Kaname!" She struggled against him crying, but he squeezed his arms tighter around her, but not too much to hurt her. He never wanted to hurt her. Hearing her say all these things near enough killed him with guilt and sadness.

"He'll hate you in the end anyway... This is the only way to give your answer. I am sorry Elissa." He told her before piercing his fangs into her neck making her near enough scream. Her tears flowed more as she knew there was no way back now. Zero was going to hate her. She would have already lost her best friend. Kaname pulled away from her neck seeing the bitemarks on it. He looked over at Yuki to make sure she wasn't awake. 

He brought his wrist to his mouth taking his blood in but not swallowing it. He turned Elissa around and lifted her head up, crashing his lips on hers, he transferred his blood to her making her swallow it. After he pulled away she stood staring at him. He stared down at her, wondering what she would do.

"Why would you.. do.. that?" Elissa managed to get out before she fell forwards towards Kaname as he caught her. He sat her down against the wall and then moved Yuki for him to be sitting in the middle of them.

He brought Yuki closer to him and then pierced her neck, she woke up instantly. He felt her grab his hair and kick her legs to try and scramble away from him and his sharp fangs. He pulled away from her not being able to savour anymore blood, he had realised he drank quite a bit of Elissa's blood when she had fainted on him.

"Yuki, it's time to wake up, before you go mad." He told her and bit his wrist giving it to her. She drank from him willingly, she was doing better than Elissa. Yuki stopped and looked at Kaname sitting up putting her hands on his cheeks. "Do you remember who I am Yuuki?"

"You're my..." She started before hearing a gun click. She looked up at the top of the clock. It was Zero, Yuuki ran behind Kaname to protect him yelling to Zero. "Zero stop! This man he's my... My older brother!" Yuuki said and then fainted as Kaname turned to catch her. Zeros eyes widened, he looked over to Elissa.

"You've turned them both! How could you do such a thing to them?! Is it true what she said?!" Zero questioned.

"Yes, it is true. Elissa and I are Yuuki's older siblings. Even you should be able to sense their presence," Kaname told him and Zero did sense it. He couldn't believe it. Elissa and Yuki are purebloods? "Yuuki is the youngest daughter of the Kurans. Elissa is the older daughter, she is also my fianceé." He told him getting the reaction he wanted from him, he picked Elissa up bridal style and Seiren got Yuuki. "You have befriended these two girls and care deeply for them and yet you are the thing that hunts us. Just what will you do?" Kaname asked leaving Zero stunned at the top of the clock tower and vanishing into the night.

He felt like his whole world just came crashing down in an instant.
