Chapter five

Another week had gone by and it was close to the ball. You had been training with Kaname with your new found powers. He had asked Yuuki to join too. That's when you found out Aidou had taught her ice spells too. Yuuki had also unlocked her embodiment shape, you and Kaname had found out that she had the embodiment of a butterfly. Kaname had been quite happy when he found out, it had suited her.  As for you, you hadn't found yours yet. It felt a little frustrating that your younger sister got her embodiment before you had but she had started training before you had. You already knew Kaname's was a bat, which made sense as he was a mysterious being. 

You managed to get access to enough of your powers to be able to protect you if you were unarmed so that was success. You had been so tired with training lately that you had been taking more naps in the day rather than just sleeping at night.

You were running through trees, looking around frantically. You were trying to find Kaname before it was too late. "Elissa!" You heard Zero yell behind you. You looked back worried, on the verge of crying. "You can't just take off like that!" He scolded you catching you up. You weren't bothered about his lecture though, you looked around and took a deep breath in. You tried to lock onto Kaname's scent. When you found it, you bolted away from Zero yet again. He bolted straight after you, fearing that you were going to hurt yourself. You managed to find Kaname and you leaped onto him wrapping him in your arms. He caught you hugging you back, very confused.

"Kaname, I'm so glad I found you!" You cried, Kaname picked you up slightly so you were eye level to him.

"Elissa, you're crying. What's happened?" He asked you as he saw Zero walk up to the two of you. He was holding his bloody rose, which made Kaname hold you to him more protectively. 

"I wasn't sure if I was going to make it in time!" You cried to him hugging him tighter, he looked confused at you and Zero. You looked to the side of you had felt the presence of him. You gripped onto Kaname and he looked over at you then at him. 

"Rido..." Kaname murmured, "You cannot have Elissa and Yuuki." Kaname told him and Rido smirked. 

"I'm not here for them, although they would make nice trophies." Rido remarked and Zero wasted no time to shoot him. Rido stumbled backwards and thats when you saw Yuuki behind him. You gasped, Zero still had his gun raised at Rido he hadn't spotted Yuuki. 

"Zero don't shoot! Yuuki's behind him!" You yell at Zero and Kaname put you back on the floor. He moved you behind him and Rido had an amused look on his face.

"How nice, Zero do me a favour and kill Kaname Kuran." He told Zero which made you look at him in fear and Zero turned his gun on Kaname. He was about to pull the trigger when you had jumped in the way, taking the shot for Kaname. 

"Elissa..." You could hear a faint murmur, "Elissa, wake up!" You heard someone shouting and felt yourself being shaken. 

You then opened your eyes with a scream. You felt arms wrapping around you tightly as you sobbed.

"It's alright, I'm here," You heard Kaname's voice soothe you. Everyone had practically ran inside your room to make sure you were okay.  "It's alright everyone, go back to what you were doing," Kaname told them and they all nodded. They all had exited the room and Kaname had started stroking the back of your head as you sobbed, "Elissa, calm down. It's alright, it's okay." Kaname soothed you.

As you started calming down Kaname had placed you in his lap and had started rocking you. He was still stroking your head. You looked up at him, he noticed and looked down wiping your tears.

"Elissa, you don't need to tell me anything if you don't want to." He told you, he knew you were very upset. 

"I had a nightmare... It was about Rido-" You started trembling remembering it, you were still holding onto him.

"Elissa, you don't have to worry about him. Zero and I put an end to him," You tightened your grip on his blouse as he mentioned Zero and Kaname noticed it, "Oh, it had Zero in too?" He questioned and you nodded stiffly.

"Him and I were searching for you, it was mostly him following me to make sure I was going to be alright as I was unarmed... Rido had captured Yuuki and Zero had shot Rido after he threatened her and I. Then Rido told Zero to kill you and he had pointed the gun at you and I just couldn't lose you so I jumped in front of you and I-" you started babbling uncontrollably as you recalled Kaname's life being threatened and Zero actually teaming up with someone as so crude as Rido.

"Elissa stop, you're alright. I'm okay and you're fine. We are both alive. Zero would never betray you like that." He held you tightly again and you started pulling away from him to face him.

"But would he betray you?" You asked Kaname and his eyes softened as you knew there was a possibility of Zero hurting Kaname but unintentionally hurting you as well.

"Elissa, stop thinking like this. It gets you nowhere. You don't need to think of anything else right now but the ball tomorrow. This nightmare is probably a result of your stress about it." Kaname reasoned and you nodded.

"Is it too late to say no to going to it?" You asked terrified, this ball scared you to the core. There would be so many people judging you. Since you awoken you had become more ladylike, you used to be just like Zero - carefree and reckless. It always worried Kaname that you'd end up hurting yourself badly one day.

"Yes it's too late. You have to go to this ball Elissa. You won't just be the only one they'll be interested in meeting. They all be eyeing Yuuki too, and probably me too been so we are all purebloods. There are people you need to be careful of though but I'll go through them with you another time. You're too shaken up at the moment." Kaname told you and you just stayed silent.

You stayed like that for a while. You felt safe in his arms and that had helped you calm down. You were still thinking of it, how Zero turned around and tried to shoot Kaname without a problem. Kaname got your attention, you were thinking that he was still thinking of your nightmare too as he was still holding you tightly.

"Elissa, you said earlier you jumped in front of me because you couldn't fathom me getting hurt... If a situation comes up where I have a hunters weapon pointed at me, please stay behind me. It's not that I don't think you can't protect me, I think you're very capable of protecting me. But Elissa, you must let me protect you too. I won't get hurt as much as you would, you and Yuuki are fragile. You bruise more easily than I do, I have felt what Hunters weapons do and you have not. When you are struck with a hunters weapon it's about surviving and trying to not think of the pain as your injury slowly heals. It's a painful process. So you mustn't jump in front of me, you could get seriously hurt." He told you and you turned to him.

"And you can't get seriously hurt?" You asked him a little harshly.

"I can still get hurt pretty badly but I would heal faster than you would because I know what it's like being struck by a hunters weapon." He told you and you could feel yourself growing furious at the mention of anyone hurting Kaname.

"Who has struck you?" You asked and he didn't answer you. You had gathered that he wouldn't tell you anyway.

"A lot of people, but that doesn't matter. What matters is that you get plenty of rest for tomorrow's ball." He tells you and laid you down on the bed, tucking you in and planting a kiss on your forehead. He turned to leave but you had grabbed the back of his blouse. He looked back at you with soft eyes.

"Don't leave me Kaname, I don't want to go back to another nightmare." You tell him and he turns to you. He sits on the bed and holds your cheek in his hand.

"What would you like me to do?" He asked you.

"Stay with me until I fall asleep." You answered and his eyes softened again. He  smiled at you gently.

"Alright." He said and sat on the chair next to your bed, grabbing a book and started to read it. You turned over to watch him and you smiled, closing your eyes and drifting to sleep.

Hello! Alright here's the next chapter and I'm going to continue writing the next one now, I've got to catch up updating with this book. I haven't the best days since Thursday so I've not been updating. Everyone needs some personal time once in a while and that was my personal time.

I hope everyone is doing well though and I am aware it's results day sometime soon and I hope everyone gets what they want to achieve.
