Chapter Fifteen

A month later

3rd POV

Zero opened the main door to the night class dorms. He trudged inside as everyone stared at him. Everyone was very aware of Zero's new position in the Senate. The only thing they weren't aware of was that he had no other choice. He needed to do this in order to save Elissa, and saving her was on the top of his priority list - other than protecting Yuuki.

He walked inside and made his way to his dorm. He opened the door to his room and walked inside closing the door behind him. Soon after there was a knock on the door and Yuuki opened the door after waiting a minute to be invited in. He lifted his head from his bed and saw the young girl staring at him with worried eyes.

"Zero-"

"Don't."

She sighed and walked over sitting on the edge of his bed as he laid on it. "Why do you continue going? Whenever you come back you always look so unhappy. I miss the old Zero, even then you weren't as grumpy as you are nowadays... You actually smiled back then."

"Back then, I had not just you but Elissa too. We're no closer to finding her than we were a month ago." Zero gripped his sheet in anger, he hated that he couldn't find you.

"Elissa is strong Zero. She's like you, she's resilient. Whatever she's going through, I know she'll get through it." Yuuki told him moving closer and giving him a comforting hug. He pulled her closer to him, he didn't want to let go.

"At least I managed to save one of you." He whispered, staring up at the ceiling.

"We've got to go to a ball tonight, Kaname seems more reluctant to go than anyone. It's a little odd, kinda makes me nervous."

"No, you can't go-"

"I have to, Kaname has asked me to and he's stated that most purebloods will be there-"

"He's insane." Zero said angrily. He stood up and made his way out of the room and to Kaname's dorm. He opened the door and Kaname looked up from his book. "Are you insane?!" Zero yelled at him.

"Excuse me? Remember who you're talking to Zero." Kaname glared at Zero.

"You're making Yuuki go to this ball when you know Quentin will be there! She'll be a sitting duck!" Zero grabbed Kaname's shirt and made him stand up.

"She'll be a sitting duck if we leave her unattended." Kaname told him, his voice starting to show that he was getting annoyed by Zero's hold on him. "She isn't any safe here, especially not alone. You saw how easily he took Elissa, we were both there. What's to stop him from doing the same thing? After this ball, I'm taking her into hiding. I will not allow Yuuki to be touched by him." Kaname stated and pushed Zero off of him.

"You don't want her to be touched by him, yet you are going to take her to him!" Zero asked him as Yuuki entered the room.

"Zero, I know the risks... Kaname has been thorough with them. I want to see her and if there is a chance she will be there, I want to take it. It could act as both a chance to see her and a chance to save her. If I was in her position I know she wouldn't stop fighting for me, that's why I've agreed to go with Kaname. I know I'll be fine if I have you both by my side."

"I am not okay with this." Zero gritted his teeth, looking between the two.

"Do you think I like this anymore than you? I have peace of mind if Yuuki is by our side rather than at an academy dorm where both of us couldn't prevent Elissa from being taken. At least if he makes a move on her, the purebloods at the ball can help us as well as the hunters on patrol."

"I can't do anything as a guest Kaname." Zero's words made Kaname realise that he was right. If he pulled a gun out at an event where he was a guest he would be considered a threat even for the hunters. Everyone would turn against him.

"I'll protect you as best I can if anything happens where you need your gun. Just have it on standby." Kaname sighed.

"Maybe you could try and get a order from the association for the ball. If anything should happen then you'll be in the clear." Yuuki suggested as Zero and Kaname stared at each other. Zero sighed and nodded in agreement. "I'm not sure if it'll be too late to get on the patrol list but I'm sure our father can call in some favours for me." Zero sighed and exited the room.

"You should get ready Yuuki. We'll be leaving soon." Kaname told her as he sat back down only to be joined by his sister.

"Kaname, if anything should happen to me tonight-"

"I won't let it."

"But if it does, I've got Takuma to get me a piece of jewellery to wear that will have a tracking device in. If he tries to take me, I want you to do me a favour and let him take me-"

"What?! No-"

"Kaname! This might be the only way we can get her back! She's suffered enough and I am going to do everything I can possibly do to get her home safely. Whether you support my idea or not, Takuma has faith in me. He has faith that I can do this. Zero will be fighting against this idea I know that, only Takuma and you know about this plan. I can't risk the chance that he figures out that I want him to take me so we can track him. You guys need to play your part in this too. You have to put on a show so he thinks he is winning. You have to let it play out his way. You have to fight for me and Elissa okay? You have to. We'll both be counting on you." Yuuki hugged Kaname and stood up kissing the top of his head.

"I will protect you both, I won't fail you on this Yuuki." Kaname told her before she walked to the door. Yuuki nodded and turned to him just before leaving his room, "I'll see you tonight Kaname. Let's hope this works." Kaname nodded with his fierce but frightened eyes.

He was afraid if this went wrong he would lose her too. That was something Kaname was not prepared to let happen.
