Chapter Eighteen

~Your POV~

"Elissa, you need to calm down." Kaname told you but you couldn't. Your heart was racing and your thoughts couldn't be contained. You were freaking out.

"It'll be alright Elissa." Yuuki tried to help but you stood up in panic from the ledge.

"What part of this is going to be okay? We have to get this off of me! I'll be damned if I fall in love with Quentin or die because of him!" You instantly went for the bracelet and that was when Kaname caught your wrists, he had grabbed just above the bracelet.

"Elissa calm down. You need to think straight, you can't take the bracelet off or attempt to. It will work faster if you do. We have no idea what he's planned for you... So you have to take that in consideration-"

Your mind started playing the look he had when everyone bowed to him, "Power. He wants power and he got it... He knew he would get it tonight. Control.." you started mumbling to yourself which caught Kaname's attention.

"Control?" Takuma asked curious, he and Yuuki looked at each other and then back at you.

"Ever since he got me he's wanted to control me. He had me in a dungeon at first and then I agreed to join him out of pure fear of him... He gave me a room and then after I tried to escape multiple times he started to assign bodyguards to me... The bodyguards were an effort to try and control me.. he wanted to control my behaviour tonight. Kaname, he wants to control me. He's going to make me his own puppet!" You panicked after the realisation hit you.

"We have to find a way to take it off her! How do we take it off Kaname?" Yuuki asked trying to remain calm for you.

Kaname started shaking his head, "The only time I've ever heard of it coming off is when it's finished doing it's job. I'll have to ask Kaien about it, it's a hunters relic. He should know more and should be able to access the archives in the association. You just have to hang in there Elissa and try to  resist it." Kaname told you and you scoffed.

"Great. That's just great. You're just going to watch me become a mindless puppet? I'll find my own way out of this mess." You scoffed pushing past Kaname and Takuma walking back inside. You looked around to find nobody you actually recognised except for the night class.

"Lady Elissa, are you alright?" You heard and looked to see Aidou. His eyes softened at your half worried state. You were trying to keep it together for the nobles that surrounded you.

"I'm fine, thank you Aidou." You nodded and he nodded back to you. It was the way you two communicated that either everything was alright or everything was just horrible.

"You look pale Lady Elissa." You heard a feminine voice approach. You looked over to see a beautiful lady with long flowing locks of golden hair approach you. She put her hand on your forehead which you flinched away at and Aidou put himself between you both.

"Lady Elissa said she was fine." Aidou bowed to the lady to show respect. You had also sensed her authority, she was another pureblood.

"Perhaps Lady Elissa will want to get some fresh air with me? I was about to go up for some. The balconies don't give me enough air, come Lady Elissa. You'll be safe with me don't worry." She smiled gently at you, she held her hand out for you and hesitantly took it. You both walked up the stairs, Aidou was on protective duty so he followed you. You saw your bodyguards at the entrance and they immediately blocked your exit after the woman passed them. Your hand yanking her back a little.

"Gentlemen, please let Lady Elissa out." She sighed and they turned to her, still blocking you from getting out.

"Lady Elissa is under strict protective detail for tonight's ball. I'm afraid without Quentin, we can't allow her to leave. It's for her own safety." One of them explained and it made you want to burst into tears that this had become your life. Aidou put a hand on your shoulder from behind you, he gave you a reassuring small smile.

"I said, let her out right now." The woman's energy grew dark and the men fell on the floor instantly. She pulled you outside and you took in a deep breathe of the fresh air.

"Thank you for dealing with them... I really could do with the air." You thanked her. This could be it, you could take this oppurtunity.

"Oh don't mention it! Us girls have to help each other out right?" She smiled sweetly at you, causing you to smile and nod back. "Oh, I just remembered you don't actually know who I am do you?"

"No, I don't."

"My name is Sara. Sara Shiribuki, I'm the Head of the family." She explained and you nodded.

"Sara. That's a pretty name." You smiled at her and she chuckled.

"Thank you."

A couple of minutes went by all filled by silence until Aidou spoke up, "Are you getting cold? Kaname will be worried if he can't see you-"

"Kaname? I thought you were with Quentin? You both came in together and I assumed-"

"Kaname is my fiancé, he always has been. I just happened to be spending the day with Quentin today." You made a lie up. Then you thought about it, why would you lie to another that could help you?

"Oh, I see... That is probably why Kaname never seemed interested in anyone romantically in the past. Nobody knew he had you and your sister." She stated and you looked at her, she was staring off at the night sky without a hint of emotion on her face.

"Well I'm sure he had his temptations... I mean, you're beautiful... Who wouldn't want to be with you?" You scoffed a little laughing softly.

"Yes, who wouldn't... Kaname wouldn't." She sighed and you felt awkward just standing near her suddenly.

"Um... Sara, do you have feelings for Kaname?..." you dreaded even asking but when she looked at you with a unhappy look your suspicions confirmed itself.

"I'm sorry, but I do. I've tried to stay away Elissa... But I just can't. He's a close friend and a love interest. I hope you don't hate me, I would never try to go between your relationship with him. I plan on working past my feelings." She sighed and you let out a breath of relief you didn't even know you were holding.

"Lady Elissa!" You turned and saw Ichijo walking towards you and then noticed you weren't alone. "Oh, I hope I'm not interrupting anything." He bowed in respect to Sara.

"Not at all, what's wrong Ichijo?" You questioned growing a little concerned at his state. His face full of worry.

"We can't find Yuuki." He stated and your heart sunk to your stomach. Your breathing hitched and you felt a hand on your back. You looked over to see Sara with a concerned look on her face.

"Elissa? Are you alright?" She asked and you regained your composure and nodded.

"Yes, sorry to worry you. Let's go find her." You looked to Ichijo who nodded with Aidou.

"I'll be sure to let you know if I see her Elissa." Sara smiled at you as you thanked her and walked back inside. Ichijo escorted you back inside with Aidou. You stood on the staircase to try and find her. You saw Quentin mingling with other vampires, Kaname was near as well.

"Where's Zero?" You asked and they looked around for him.

"That is a good question." Ichijo stated quietly and you shook your head.

"If Yuuki is with Zero then she is safe. He would never hurt her." You told them with confidence. Soon after you spotted Yuuki in the crowd in a corner. You immediately bolted over towards the corner with the two boys following you.

The vampires who saw you coming made room for you to get past, but as you grew closer the vampires didn't move. You grew impatient.

"If you do not move away from my sister I will have no choice but to force my way in and that is something you don't want me to do." You warned them with a serious tone to your voice. They all took heed of the warning and move away instantly. Yuuki looked up to you and came to your side as you pulled her away from them. She had apparently been answering their questions and they had gotten too close for comfort. So when you appeared she was quite relieved.

You walked with her to Kaname who was standing with Quentin which made you regret your decision to not find Zero instead. Kaname saw your face and tucked you at his side before Quentin could. Yuuki was standing next to you as you wouldn't let her get near Quentin afraid of what he would do.

"I say it's probably about time we all had some family time don't you think?" Quentin provoked Kaname but he didn't bite.

"Yes I agree." Yuuki commented and shocked you all. Quentin chuckled and nodded to her. "I think it's time we all play nice with one another." She lowered her voice and Quentin smirked at Kaname. Quentin moved towards Kaname and whispered in his ear.

"Even your other sister decides that it's time to give up." He laughed out after and pulled you to him, Kaname still processing what he had said.

"Excuse us, we've got to greet other vampires before we leave." Quentin said causing your heart rate to pick up slightly. You weren't ready to leave, but you had no other choice.

Quentin pulled you away from them and you looked at them with sad eyes. Aidou and Ichijo was about to move forward to get you when some vampires immediately blocked their path to you. You felt like you were being ripped away from them all over again.

Quentin's grip on you had intensified again causing you to hiss out in pain under your breath. "Quentin, you're hurting me." You whined and he released his grip a little relieving you of the pain. You looked at him shocked he'd actually done that. "Thank you." You whispered and he looked down at you.

"Like I said earlier, I'm not a beast and I can be reasoned with." He said and you sighed.

Thinking of the bracelet you looked up at him again, "Is that the reason why you have attached a hunters relic to me that can kill me?"

Your words made him stop walking and look at you with wide eyes. "How do you know what it is? Wait- let me guess. Kaname told you?" He questioned and you nodded.

"I'm not going to be a mindless puppet for you Quentin." You told him with narrowed eyes at him, he laughed at your comment and started walking again.

"My dear, that isn't the plan for you," He said and your bodyguards met you and Quentin at the bottom of the stairs. "I think you've had enough of this party. You two, take her home and do not let her out of her room." He told them passing you to them causing you to fight against them. He then put his hand to your forehead and before you knew it, you lost consciousness.
