Yashvi jumped out of bed, her face contorted in discomfort. She rushed to find Nadhiya, "Aunty, I started my period today, and the cramps are unbearable. Can you please give me the concoction you always prepare?"
Nadhiya, emerging from the kitchen with a warm smile, nodded. "Of course, Yashvi. Go get ready, and I'll be in your room shortly."
As Yashvi returned to her room, Nadhiya's thoughts drifted back to the day the king had summoned her after discovering the blood on Yashvi's pants. Nadhiya was no ordinary woman, she was a powerful witch who worked for King Agastya. She had trained Aashi in witchcraft and magic, and for the past two human years, she had been caring for Yashvi under the same roof as Agastya and Yashvi.
Agastya had been giving Yashvi a potion to mask her scent, which could otherwise affect his hormones. However, despite his efforts, he couldn't ignore her growing presence and the way she started to admire him. Her transformation from a child into a young woman was evident, and he often noticed her blushing when he kissed her forehead.
Yashvi got dressed for school and stopped in her tracks when she saw Agastya entering the room. His fingers threaded through his slightly longer hair, which was close to reaching his shoulders. Her gaze lingered on him but she quickly shook her head, trying to ignore the unsettling thoughts.
"What am I doing? He's my Agastya, who raised and protected me. Why do I find him attractive now? Maybe it's just a phase or my age. Perhaps if I ate less, I'd be like other girls my age, and these thoughts would disappear." she mused, her internal conflict evident.
Agastya, having heard her thoughts felt his heart ache for Yashvi. Unaware of the Moon Goddess's plan to bind them together, she was struggling with her feelings, completely oblivious to her destined connection with him.
"Yashvi, did you have your breakfast, baby?" Agastya asked gently.
Yashvi avoided eye contact and lied that she had eaten. Agastya, not buying it, went to the table and returned with a plate of toast and juice. "You're not leaving until you've had your breakfast."
With a resigned sigh, Yashvi quickly finished her meal, but her eyes widened in shock when she heard a growl, an animalistic sound from Agastya. He coughed awkwardly trying to cover his mistake, and retreated to the master bedroom. Agastya felt a painful arousal, his thoughts torn between the need to respect Yashvi's boundaries and his own intense desires. He chose to vent his frustration by sealing the walls and screaming at the top of his lungs, his rage echoing through the room.
"Fuck, fuck, fucking 1800 years I've been celibate, Moon Goddess, you're mocking me by giving me a mate I can't even touch. Damn it!" he raged, his voice a mix of fury and pain.
After a moment of screaming, Agastya's pupils glowed like fire, and he finally felt some relief. He walked out with a forced smile, grabbing his car keys, only to notice Yashvi lagging behind.
"Yashvi, aren't you getting late for school?" he called out.
Seeing her sweating and looking unwell, he crouched to touch her forehead. "What's wrong, baby? You seemed fine a moment ago."
Yashvi's voice trembled as she spoke. "Agastya, someone screamed in my head."
Agastya's heart sank, troubled by the fact that she had heard his distress. "The last thing I wanted was for her to sense me in her mind. Is leaving her behind the only way to protect us both? Could I truly live apart from her?"
Trying to mask his concern, Agastya said, "You must be anxious about the parent-teacher meeting. Is there something I should know about your grades?"
"I've passed all my subjects, but I'll try to improve next time." Yashvi replied.
"Okay, stop worrying, I'll handle the teacher.", Agastya said, trying to comfort her.
They drove to the school in silence. Upon arrival, Yashvi led Agastya to her classroom, where the teacher greeted them with an overly enthusiastic smile.
"It's nice to meet you, sir, Yashvi has recently lost interest in her studies. I've been trying to get her back on track, and I understand the challenges of managing a teenager. I'm here to help." the class teacher said.
Agastya barely listened, signing the grade book as his hair fell over his forehead. He moved it aside, but the teacher's gaze lingered on him with a predatory look that made Agastya gag with disgust.
"Sir, would you like some water?" the teacher asked, her tone suggestive.
Agastya watched as Yashvi conversed with a boy, their hands intertwined. A surge of possessive anger bubbled within him, his demon and vampire instincts clawing at the edge of control. He had to force himself to stay calm as he approached them, his eyes locked on their joined hands. Gently, he pulled Yashvi away and towards his car, but before he could open the door, Urmila intercepted them.
"Yashvi, did you hear? The girls who teased you yesterday are dead. The management just received word that they had an accident on their way home." Urmila said with a serious tone.
Agastya's expression darkened. "Someone teased you?"
"Yes, and now they're dead!" Yashvi snapped at him.
Yashvi stormed back to her class, leaving Agastya to punch a nearby tree in frustration. The tree toppled immediately, and security rushed over, alarmed. Agastya, his face a mask of indifference, got into his car and called Kaala.
Kaala appeared before him in an instant. "My lord, those girls had been teasing the queen about her appearance and eating habits. Yesterday, they tried to assault her physically. I took care of them on their way home."
"Good, Return to your duties." Agastya said to him and he entered Yashvi's class, finding her still glaring at the teacher. He interrupted the lesson and called for Yashvi, who groaned as she packed her bag and walked out.
"You're disrupting my class," she complained.
"As if you were paying attention, We're going home for a serious discussion." Agastya countered.
Yashvi passed him, and Agastya followed, casting a final disdainful glance at the boy who had been watching her. When they reached home, Yashvi threw her bag and stormed into her room, Agastya close behind.
"Who was that boy? and why were you holding his hand?" Agastya demanded.
Yashvi shrugged. "He's been asking me out for a while. I thought I'd give him a chance. So, yes, he's my boyfriend."
Agastya's nostrils flared with anger, but he masked his emotions. "You shouldn't be doing this, Yashvi. You're still young, and you might regret it later. I don't want to see you with him anymore."
He turned to leave, but a loud crash stopped him. He spun around, sensing Yashvi's rage. Her mind was a storm of curses directed at her class teacher, and Agastya guessed it had something to do with the woman's flirtation.
"What's happening, baby? Can you tell me instead of throwing a tantrum?" Agastya asked gently.
"I don't want you to be my chauffeur anymore, I can go to school on my own. And if you're so interested in my class teacher, keep her out of my sight." Yashvi snapped.
"Where is this coming from?" Agastya asked, bewildered.
Yashvi threw her hands up in exasperation. "Why do you have to flaunt your hairstyle in front of her like you're some model? She was practically undressing you with her eyes. Do you hear me? She was bloody raping you with her eyes!"
"Language, Yashvi," Agastya said firmly.
"I'll mind my language if you mind your body language around my teachers! If you're trying to seduce them, then I'm not doing anything wrong in having a boyfriend." Yashvi retorted.
Agastya's mind raced as he realized Yashvi's jealousy.
"My baby is jealous, and I'm the cause of it. If only she were eighteen, she'd look even more alluring with this jealousy" He thought.
"Baby..." Agastya began.
"Don't 'baby' me," Yashvi interrupted, walking past him to sit on the swing in the backyard. Her tears flowed freely as she grappled with her emotions. "What's wrong with wanting a partner? It's not like he's bound to you forever. He's just my father's friend who's here to take care of me, but here I am, acting like a jealous brat. Get your emotions in check, Yashvi. He has every right to live his life, even if it's with someone else."
Agastya, feeling her distress keenly, rushed to her side. Hearing her thoughts, he ran his fingers through her hair, calming her as he always did. She looked up at him, her tears mingling with a soft smile.
"I'm sorry, Agastya, I shouldn't have taken my anger out on you." she said.
Agastya reassured her, "It's okay, baby, You have every right to be upset, but do you really think I was trying to grab her attention? We've lived together for years. I thought you knew I'd never look at anyone else."
"I know, I'm sorry. I don't know why I acted that way when I saw her flirting with you. I shouldn't have behaved like a brat. You have every right to have a family of your own. I can't keep holding you back just because I'm your responsibility." Yashvi replied, her voice trembling.
"You're not just my responsibility, baby, You're my world. I'd do anything for you." Agastya said softly.
"You don't have to, you need a family of your own, and I can't keep you tied to me." Yashvi said, trying to sound steady.
Agastya sat beside her on the swing, wiping her tears with his thumb. He cursed his fate for the trials they had to endure.
"What can I do to show that I don't want anyone else in my life? I'm happy with you." Agastya asked earnestly.
"Are you serious? But what will you do when I grow up and start a family of my own?" Yashvi asked, a hint of hope in her eyes.
"We'll decide that later, For now, what do you want me to do?" Agastya said gently.
Yashvi looked into his eyes, a smile forming on her lips. "Will you cut your hair and stop playing with it in front of other women? I hate seeing them look at you like that, and I hate myself for being so jealous."
Agastya jumped up from the swing, rushing back inside the house. Yashvi began to cry again, feeling guilty for her outburst. But her tears stopped when she saw him return with a pair of scissors.
"Go ahead and cut as much as you want, I won't mind if you shave my head to make me look ugly." Agastya said, sitting before her.
Yashvi threw the scissors aside and wrapped her arms around his neck from behind, her voice muffled. "I'm sorry, Agastya. You don't have to cut your hair. I'm happy. We're happy being with each other."
"What about the boy? I don't want to hear the word 'boyfriend' from you, at least not until you're eighteen." Agastya said to her.
"He's just a classmate, He was interested in me, but I turned him down." Yashvi admitted.
She rocked his body gently, and Agastya felt a deep sense of peace in her embrace. After all, she was his home, and he couldn't wait for the day they could truly be together.
