Chapter 5: You're Going To Make A Great Vampire

~Karma's POV~

I yawned slightly, strolling back into my room, seeing (Y/N) passed out on the bed with a peaceful expression on her face. I smiled a little sitting on the edge of the bed. I reached over and gently shook her awake. She grumbled something under her breath before rolling over and ignoring me. I snickered. "Cute." I muttered. Almost immediately her head shot up. "What did you just say a*shole?" She spat. I laughed a little. "It's time to get up, duh." I said. She shot me a glare before sighing. She got up and stretched with a yawn. "How are you feeling this morning?" I questioned. (Y/N) hummed a little before making a sideways motion with her hand. "So, so. Could be better, could be worse. I don't feel terrible. But I don't feel at 100% either." She responded. I nodded. "Yeah, you'll feel a little off for the first few days. But just try and take it easy. Don't go picking fights is what I'm trying to say." I stated. She shot me another glare and I chuckled. "It's a joke." I said. She scoffed a little before doing what appeared to be morning stretches. "What are you doing?" I questioned. "Morning exercise." She grumbled back. "Why?" I asked. "It's a habit when I wake up. Something Karasuma would always ask me when I walked down the stairs was 'did you do your morning exercises?' and if I didn't he'd send me back upstairs to do them. I haven't been able to do them the past few weeks because of well...." She trailed of shooting me a look as her eyes flashed red. "That." She growled, going back to her routine. I snickered a little as she finished up. "Alright then. Today we'll be taking a look around the castle. And I'll be introducing you to a few vampires." I said. She nodded. "Alright." She grumbled. Guess I'll have to get used to this... She thought. I snapped my fingers poofing up some clothes for her. She walked into the bathroom and changed. Once she came back out we got a move on. I led her all around the castle, telling her where everything was, explaining a few things, and of course introducing her to a few vampires. Specifically the guards, and of course we ran into Itona. After chatting with him for a little we continued walking. "Now, I'm sure you're wondering where the hell we're going now, since we've already been all over the castle. Well, this is only the first floor, and currently I wanted to show you the kitchen. Y'know, so you know where that is if you get hungry and I'm not around." I explained. (Y/N) gave me a look. "You're vampires, the hell do you need a kitchen for?" She questioned. "Well, while human food can't give us the energy blood does, it can satisfy our hunger. If only for a little while. And it still tastes pleasant to us. And hey, we're allowed to enjoy food outside of blood. But, as said earlier. It can't provide us with the same energy that blood does. Nor is it that healthy for vamps. Think if it like our version of junk food." I said. She nodded before a look of confusion spread across her face. "What about the blood of another vampire?" She questioned. I smirked. "I had a feeling that question was coming up. The blood of another vampire has almost opposite effects. It can provide us with energy, but never quell hunger. Only human blood does both and satisfies our hunger for longer. Keeping in mind that human food can never satisfy us for longer than a few minutes or a day at most." I explained. (Y/N) nodded, making mental note of it. "There are also different things that we can do with blood. Some vamps like their blood high up on sugar. That's not a lie before you ask. Others prefer it straight out of a human. And for special occasions we can even spike blood. No joke there is a vampire that works in the kitchen that actually makes alcoholic blood. It's crazy what you can do with it." I said. She tilted her head to the side, giving me a look. "What about you? Do you have a preference?" She questioned. I smirked a little. "I honestly prefer it straight out of a human. But because of my whole, 'not liking to socialize with humans nor vampires' thing, I only ever treat myself like that on special occasions. Things like my birthday, specific holidays, and of course, The Scarlet Night." I said. She raised an eyebrow. "I thought vampires didn't give two s*its about time, how the hell do you keep track of your birthday?" She questioned. I laughed a little. "Well that's because my birthdate is ironic as f*ck. Not only is it on a holiday, but one of the more holy holidays." I said. I shot her a look and smile. "December 25th. Christmas." I stated. She froze for a minute, jaw dropping. I burst out laughing. "Oh, you're f*cking joking." She said. "Nope. Told you it was ironic." I said. "Yeah, no s*it Sherlock. A f*cking devil like you born on Christmas? Hell nah." She said, shaking her head. "But it's true. You can ask any vampire here that actually knows me and they'll tell you the same thing. Itona, Kanzaki, and Sugino being among them." I said. She facepalmed. "Geez. You weren't kidding about the irony." She grumbled, shaking her head. I smirked. "C'mon, let's keep going." I said. She nodded.

We continued walking and I kept stealing glances at (Y/N). She looked deep in thought, and I could tell that she was processing all the things she had learned. "Hey, that reminds me..." I said, trailing off. She hummed a little, shooting me a look. "You've never mentioned your birthday. When is it?" I questioned. She flinched a little, dropping eye contact as her thoughts grew silent. Oh great. This is one question I was afraid of being asked. She thought. I raised an eyebrow and she took a deep breath. "We...we don't know. More specifically....I don't remember when." She mumbled. "Eh?" I questioned. She sighed, a little shakily. "The thing is...when I was five my mom and dad got killed by a vampire during the Scarlet Night. I think I've mentioned that the (L/N) family is a line of high ranking vampire hunters. So my mom and dad believed we'd be fine traveling during that night. But we got jumped. And they both got killed. Soon after I was found by Koro-sensei. Memories that far back are...extremely hard to recall. So things like when I was born they.....I forgot. So for eleven er...twelve years now, I've never experienced a birthday party of my own. Only those I'd show up to for the sake of my friends." She said, voice getting quieter as she went along. My eyes softened a little. "You....you don't remember your own birthday?" I questioned. She shook her head. "That's....that's sad. Even by my standards. Everyone deserves a day where it's all about them." I said. She shot me a small look before smiling sadly, gaze returning to her feet. "Eh. Everyone except me. I kinda deserve it...not gonna lie." She said. Okay now I feel like f*cking crying, Demon Gods. I thought. She shot me another look before flinching a little. "The hell. Quit giving me that look of pity. D*mn. It's weird seeing something other than a smirk on your face." She grumbled under her breath. I sighed a little, shaking my head. "Through experience, and research of psychology, I know that typically you'll never forget certain details like that unless there's extreme trauma involved. Seeing as how much you suppress memories of when you're younger, something tells me you're trying to forget something. Something big. And as a result of the heavy memory suppression, you're forgetting certain details about life when you were a child. I could very well be wrong mind you. But I think that's the reason you can't remember. Not because it was so long ago. Because trust me. No one ever permanently forgets their birthday." I said, staring ahead of me. (Y/N)'s mind was a quiet buzz, and she didn't say anything. I sighed again. "I think the thing you're trying to suppress is the memory of that Scarlet Night, isn't it? When your parents died. And I'm assuming that's why you became a Vampire Hunter in training as well. But even so, I don't think it's just parents dying that you're trying to forget...am I right?" I questioned. I noticed a slight flinch in her movement. I crossed my arms slightly. "(Y/N), I'm smarter than I look and act. You've probably been able to guess this from some of our interactions. But I'm not just basic intellectually smart. I'm people smart. I know more about the human mind than you think I do. And I know how people act. Keep in mind, I'm older than I look as well. I've had time to learn these things." I growled. (Y/N) started tensing up and I shot her a small glare. "What happened? What was so bad that you're going to these lengths to forget it?" I questioned. She clenched her fists as I sensed a memory bubbling to the surface in her mind. She smothered it gripping at her hair. "Can we....can we not talk about this here?" She questioned in a quiet voice. I sighed a little. "Geez. Fine. We can talk about this later. But only because I can sense it's making you upset." I muttered.

As we continued walking, now in silence, I noticed (Y/N) wipe at her eyes with her thumb every few seconds. I sighed. Way to f*cking go Karma, you made the girl cry. I thought. After mentally slapping myself a few times I shrugged a little. "Have I ever told you the story of how Itona spiked my blood?" I questioned. "No." She responded simply. I chuckled. "Now this seems to be a reoccurring prank with the others, either that, or it's some kinda competition. But anytime I show up to a party, everyone tries to be the first to spike my blood. Either they switch it with a spiked cup, or they legit spike my blood without me noticing. Now this has only happened twice before. The first time I was the one who accidentally grabbed a spiked cup instead of my cup. The second time well...Itona managed to spike my blood without me noticing. So I took a sip, stopped, set the cup down, and slowly stood up. With blood red eyes, I took a deep breath, before shouting at the top of my lungs. 'Who had the f*cking guts to spike my drink!?' Everyone immediately shot eachother looks before one of the guards shouted 'Itona did it!' And after that all hell broke loose. This is one of the reasons I don't go to parties often." I explained while sweat dropping. (Y/N) chuckled a little when we heard the rattling of chains. I looked down one of the halls and smiled. "Ah. Speak of the devil. Akasuki! Come here for a second!" I shouted. The brown haired vampire with bright green eyes shot me a look before smiling. "Right away sire!" She shouted. She shot a glare at the chained up humans before running over to us. "This is the guard that informed me about Itona spiking my drink. Akasuki, this is (Y/N). (Y/N), this is Akasuki." I introduced. Akasuki smiled brightly at the (H/C) haired female before shaking her hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you m'lady!" She said. (Y/N) sweat dropped a little. "Please, just call me (Y/N)." She said. Akasuki smirked a little. "Ah. Exactly like his highness I see. He can't stand it when someone is formal with him. I swear, if everyone in the castle didn't do it out of respect they'd be doing it just to annoy him." She said, rolling her eyes. A tick mark formed on my forehead. "Okay, that's enough of that." I grumbled. Akasuki just giggled a little, letting go of (Y/N)'s hand. "But seriously, it's an honer to meet you. Anyone who catches the attention of our king has to be special." She said, winking at me. "R-really? I don't consider myself that important." (Y/N) mumbled, avoiding eye contact. "Oh nonsense! Be more confident sweetheart." Akasuki said, waving a hand. She gave (Y/N) a sympathetic smile. "Oh, and don't worry so much about adjusting to being a vampire. Everyone here has gone through it at one point. The first few days are the hardest. And sorry if his highness has been a little bit manipulative. He's actually a big softy once you get to know him." She said. More tick marks. "Akasuki I swear to all that is unholy if you don't shut your trap..." I trailed off a little leaving the threat in the air. The female in question just giggled a little. "Anyways, I'm just trying to get (Y/N) familiar with the castle and introduce her to a few vamps. Are those the new ones from Scarlet Night hunts?" I questioned, shooting a look at the chained up humans further down the hall. Akasuki nodded a little. "Five this time. Not much but enough with the rest. I swear, the number gets fewer and fewer every year." She grumbled, shaking her head. (Y/N) rolled her eyes a little. "Don't worry. There's always gonna be at least one idiot who will go out during the Scarlet Night. Trust me. I knew f*cking five of them who would've gone regardless if I was with them." She growled. She facepalmed. "There's always one person who doesn't believe legends and warnings. Because human logic is simple. See it to believe it. If they can't see something with their own two eyes, it doesn't exist. Simple is that. The only male in my group didn't even believe that vampires existed in the first place. To which I respond with something along the lines of 'then explain the dead bodies with no blood'." She continued. Akasuki shot me a look and I smirked. "She came into the forest with a group of six, including herself. (Y/N) here was a hunter in training. So she was armed. What shocked me most of all was when she actually shot at me when I had one of her friends." I said with a laugh. (Y/N) sighed a little. "You're awfully happy for the guy who got shot." She grumbled. I smirked patting her head. "You only grazed my cheek. And besides, they never give trainees the real hunter weapons. What you had wasn't nearly as powerful as what Karasuma and Koro-sensei have. Besides, I have higher pain tolerance than most other vampires. So I was actually happy to feel pain for a little there. Call me Bill Cipher, but pain is hilarious." I said with a laugh. (Y/N) shot me a look before sighing. "Guess that makes me Dipper considering how much you f*cking harass me." She growled. Akasuki chuckled a little, shaking her head. "Ship it." She mumbled under her breath. Me and (Y/N) faced her immediately with glares. "The f*ck was that?" We both questioned in unison. She jumped back in shock before smiling. "I said nothiiiiing." Akasuki said. I facepalmed. "Demon Gods Akasuki." I grumbled. A sudden sharp ping echoed in the back of my mind as I looked over at (Y/N). Eyes red and wide with fear. I coughed a little. "And with that I do believe it's time to move on, see ya' later Akasuki." I said, throwing an arm around (Y/N) and guiding her back to the hallway we were walking down previously.

Once we were further away I shot a look at the female and let go of her. "Are you alright?" I asked. She shook her head a little. "I noticed it when Akasuki first walked up but it didn't bother me at first. Oh God..." (Y/N) grumbled covering her mouth a little as if she was going to be sick. "What did you notice?" I questioned. She slowly lowered her hand. "One of the pris-humans back there. I-I think they were having a panic attack and well...." She trailed off, looking down. "You got hungry, didn't you?" I questioned. She nodded slowly. I sighed a little, shaking my head before placing a hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry. That's gonna be normal first few days. Hunger is always common the first few days. It gets easier. But remember how I said earlier that I prefer drinking blood out of a human? Fear, (Y/N). That's why. When prey is scared of you it makes the hunt more exciting. Glad to know we have the same tastes." I explained. (Y/N) finally calmed down after a few more seconds of walking before shooting me a look. "How'd you know something was going on?" She asked. I scratched the back of my neck. "Ah, that. Right. Something I forgot to explain was the bond." I said. (Y/N) raised an eyebrow. I sighed. "You see when a vampire turns someone a bond of sorts forms between them. If the person turned gets in serious trouble or is threatened they can send a signal to the vamp that turned them that they need help. The bond can only grow, can never be broken unless one of the two dies. This bond that we now share allowed me to sense that you were in trouble back there. That sharp spike of panic that went through your mind turned into a signal that went directly to me. And it works the other way too. If I got in trouble, you'd be able to sense it." I explained. She hummed a little to herself, now deep in thought. "What happens when the bond grows?" She questioned. I smiled a little. "Well it becomes easier to sense other things, and the two are able to send different kinds of signals, not just ones for help. Short warnings like 'don't go that way' or phrases and questions like 'what movie do you want to watch in a few minutes'. Other things that could be sensed would be emotions. The bond can only grow if the two love eachother, platonic or otherwise." I explained. I saw (Y/N) smiling a little. "You're blushing." She said. I jumped a little. "Th-the hell!?" I shouted at her. She laughed looking brighter than normal. Ah how the tables turn. She thought. I just looked away while scratching the back of my neck. "Ah...Sorry about that. Anyways, we're here." I said. I pushed open the doors to the kitchen with a smirk. No one was in the kitchen currently, good. I moved over to one of the containers and pulled out four bottles, one marked with O, the other A, AB, and finally B. I set them down on the counter before retrieving four cups. I filled each cup with a specific type of blood before handing the first cup to (Y/N). "Type A." I said. She stared at if for a minute before taking a small sip. She set the cup down looking deep in thought as I handed her the next cup. "Type AB." I said. She nodded slightly taking a sip. Her eyes seemed to spark a little as she set the cup down. "Then O and B." I said. She drank a little O then B. After setting the last cup down she looked deep in thought. "Which do you like best?" I questioned. A few things went through her head, too fast for me to tell. She finally reached over and picked up the glass of AB. "I think, yeah. AB." She said with a slight smirk. I looked away quickly, probably blushing. Ah s*it, I'm so f*cking screwed. I thought. I noticed her tilted her head to the side a little. "Something wrong?" She questioned. "Nope! Nothing at all. It's just that typically a vampire will favor the blood type of the blood they drank first. And Ayame's blood was B." I explained. She hummed a little. "That is odd. But then again...wasn't Ayame the second time I drank blood? If you want to be accurate of course." She said. I shot her a glare. "What do you mean?" I questioned. She smirked. "Well I mean in order to turn me....you had me drink your blood riiiiight?" She questioned. My face was probably as red as my hair at this point. "Wait...wait. Don't tell me...AB is your blood type isn't it?" She questioned with a smirk that rivaled my own. "You sneaky little-." "B*tch? I've been called worse." (Y/N) said with what I could only describe as an evil chuckle. I just stared at her blankly for a minute before sighing. "You're going to make a great vampire." I grumbled.
