Chapter 2: Vampire Blood

~Meanwhile, With Karma~

"Um...Sire did she just...?" The vampire trailed off shooting a look at his smirking king. "She did. She knows I'm watching. It's her way of saying challenge accepted, bring it on." Karma said. "Why are you perfectly okay with her doing that?" Itona questioned. "Because no one ever sasses me and it's a nice change. But try it and you're dead." Karma explained. "Looks like she's approaching the first trap boss." A vamp said. "Alright (Y/N). You want a challenge, I wonder how familiar you are with chess." Karma mumbled to himself, sipping on a glass of blood.

~(Y/N)'s POV~

I stopped seeing the ground in front of me in a black and white checkerboard pattern. I noticed on one of the bricks there was a symbol. I leaned over to get a good look and realized it was a picture of the knight piece from chess. I hummed a little to myself looking across the board. I smirked, snapping my fingers. I took a cautious step onto the brick with the picture on it before moving two spaces forward, then to the right. Nothing happened. My smirk grew as I continued moving two spaces forward, then to the left or to the right. I reached the other end of the board and looked at the camera hidden in the corner. "Oh gee. I wonder what would've happened if I didn't know how the knight moves in chess." I said aloud before sticking my tongue out at the camera. I continued walking to the next puzzle. I stopped seeing a large gap in the floor that I couldn't jump or walk around. I looked around, looking for something to build a bridge or use to cross when I noticed something on the wall. A riddle. "A man walked into a bathroom and shot himself in the head, a few minutes later he walked out completely unharmed. What did he do in the bathroom?" I read aloud. I smirked. "Ha! Heard this one before. He shot his reflection." I stated. There was a dinging sound and the gap closed. I walk across, not wanting to admit it but slowly finding this fun. I came to the next puzzle quickly and hummed. I examined the tile floor, confused. I looked around and spotted a skeleton of a dead human. I shivered a little before walking over and taking one of the rib bones and chucking it onto the tile floor. A spike came up and snapped the bone in half the moment it landed. I hummed, crossing my legs and thinking. That's when I heard a faint tapping sound. 1, 2, 3. 1, 2, 3. I started tapping my foot until a faint feeling of recognition rose in my chest. I smirked again and sighed in relief. "Thank God for that one time they dragged me to a party." I mumbled to myself. I took a step forward and took a deep breath. "God let me be right about this." I said to myself. I placed a hand in the air as if resting on someone's shoulder and the other one, held out to the side as if holding someone's waist. I stepped onto the tile floor carefully and began waltzing across. "One, two, three. One, two, three." I muttered to myself, following the pattern. I eventually reached the other side and sighed in relief.

~Meanwhile With Karma~

Every vampire stared at the screen in shock. "HOLY S*IT!" One shouted. "She just cleared the first few traps like it was nothing!" Itona exclaimed. Karma laughed to himself and started clapping. "D*mn that is a clever human." One vampire said. "Let's see how she fairs against the rest of the maze however." Karma said.

~Back To (Y/N)~

I continued walking until I reached another tile floor puzzle. This one had different animals on the tiles. Deer, wolves, foxes, bears, and dragons. I gave the puzzle a confused look for a minute, thinking. I reached down and picked up a stone and tossed it across the floor. It landed on the dear and immediately the tile fell away revealing lava underneath. "Okay. I think Karma mentioned this puzzle before. Think (Y/N)." I thought. I then came to a conclusion and took a step forward, placing my foot on a dragon tile. It didn't fall. "Ah-ha! Dragons have scales and can fly while the others are grounded with fur." I said. I hopped to the next dragon tile, nearly tripping and falling on a wolf tile. I hopped to the next tile, then to the next, and finally I reached the end. I sighed out in relief and began making my way to the next puzzle. I reached a dead end and stared at it in confusion. "Okay." I muttered. I noticed a book on the wall and took it down. I opened it to see...unfinished quotes. I raised an eyebrow before flicking to a page that was marked with a book mark. This one had trivia and unfinished quotes.

1: Eliminate the impossible, and whatever remains is the ______?

I thought for a second before noticing a pen where the book was sitting. I grabbed it and filled in the blank.

2: I'm not insane, the voices in my head tell my I'm perfectly ________?

I smirked. "Tell me I'm perfectly sane." I muttered, filling in the blank.

3: Lust, Sloth, Envy, Pride, Gluttony, Wrath, Greed, and ______?

This one I stared at in confusion. "One, two, three, four, five, six, seven....Aren't there only seven deadly sins?" I questioned aloud. I hummed a little, thinking back to my time with Karma. I scoffed a little. "Knowing how his mind works..." I trailed off writing down 'Insanity'. "Unfair for anyone who hasn't met him before." I said.

4: Do you think he realized he just muted himself? ____________________.

I smirked a little a snickered. 'Give it a minute'. I wrote.

5: On the bright side however, no need to wonder where your God is. Cause's he's right here! ___________.

I couldn't help but laugh, remembering that scene. "And he's fresh out of mercy." I said, writing it down.

6: How does a vampire turn a human into a vampire?

I hummed a little to myself, remembering what Koro-sensei told me. 'By forcing the human to drink their blood.' I wrote. These questions continued for a little until I finished the page. I stuck the book back on the wall and it melted into the wall. The wall then disappeared, allowing me to continue with the maze.

~Time Skip~

After that I started failing at the puzzles. Not many, I still got a majority of them right. But I did accidentally set off a couple of traps. I managed to survive, thankfully. And I had finally come to what I believed might be the final puzzle. I was bleeding from a couple of scratches. And my limbs felt heavy and exhausted. I'm not sure how long I've been in the labyrinth for, but I've been in here for at the very least a few hours having near death experiences. I stared at the last puzzle, the way was blocked by many wires extending from one wall to the other. Most of the wires were different colors leading me to believe that each wire set off a different trap. I took a deep breath and slowly began moving past the wires, careful not to touch or trip any of them. I made it about half way through when I felt my foot get caught on something. I looked down to see that I had tripped a hard to notice red wire. "S*it." I muttered. I started running, tripping a few more wires as I heard explosions going off around me. I jumped out of the mass of wires, onto the ground and covered my head with my hands as explosions rang out above me. Once I felt the burn and sting die away I pulled myself to my feet. I continued walking despite the pain and eventually spotted a doorway, leading outside as moonlight shone down. I stopped by the doorway and just waited when I heard clapping. "Wow. Color me impressed. No one has ever beaten my labyrinth before." Karma walked up next to me, cloak swishing behind him. I didn't move. I didn't even look at him. "What? Freedom is right in front of you and you're not going to take it?" He questioned. "Did you really think I forgot our deal?" I shot back. He chuckled. "So all of that earlier was just a little show to save your friend huh? Then why did you still go through with the labyrinth?" Karma questioned. "Elementary dear Crimson, because I had a feeling you'd kill me one way or the other. At least this way I had the chance to see the outside world again, even if only a glimpse. But time marches on, even without me. My life is insignificant in comparison to the many lives I probably saved by striking that deal with you. Bottom line, I don't give a f*ck, and I'm a master of puzzles so why not do a maze in my final hours? If I died by the maze, fine then. If I die by you, I could care less. I can't fight back because of that deal, nor can I make any actual attempts to leave. So by all means, try me. Once again, I have nothing to lose." I said, shooting him a smirk. He sighed a little, shaking his head. "So young, yet so wise and talented. So intelligent yet sharp tongued. Never before have I met a human so unique and skilled. Solving those puzzles took a vast knowledge of widely different subjects. From riddles, to chess, to dancing, to weird anime abridged parodies, and even how my own mind works. Truly impressive how you were able to remember all of that, despite one year of basically doing nothing. And of course physical skills, another thing to behold. You can still use those same techniques despite it being a year since you've needed to fight anything. Instincts are powerful things are they not?" Karma questioned. I looked away from the red headed vamp. "Is this your way of being polite before killing me? Complements? If so, thanks, but just get on with it." I growled. He chuckled a little. "Nah. I don't think I could bring myself to kill someone so interesting and fun." Karma said. I noticed him bite his own lip for a second with his fang. "I'm gonna do something much worse." He added. I turned to give him a look only to realize his lip was bleeding. My eyes widened slightly. Vampire blood. I thought, realizing what that meant. I started to run back inside the labyrinth only for him to grab my wrist and pull me back to him. I struggled against his hold in a panic but d*mn vampire strength is annoying as f*ck!

"Just relax. It'll be over quickly." Karma said softly. "F*ck off!" I shouted. He chuckled a little bit. "Cute." He muttered. I turned to face him. "The hell did you just call me a*shole?" I questioned darkly while glaring at him. Big mistake on my part. He smirked before pressing his lips on mine, eyes blood red. My eyes widened, in both shock and in fear. I was frozen, unable to move until I finally registered the metallic taste of blood in my mouth. I pushed him away from me but stumbled back myself. My back hit the wall as I placed a hand on my forehead, feeling feverish and unbalanced. Karma himself smirked, wiping his lip to clean off his blood. "You....b*tch." I spat angrily. He shrugged. "Well my name is Karma." He said. After he said that I started falling only for him to run over and catch me quickly. Last thing I saw was Karma picking me up before I passed out.
