Chapter 38
Clover's POV
I carefully tiptoe down the stairs, attempting to not make any noise. The group behind me do the same, not uttering a word to each other. In front of me, Robyn leads the way.
Suddenly, Robyn stops, causing me to bash into her and then a domino effect happening behind us. "Everyone, shut up." Olive's voice sharply tells the group off.
I turn to Robyn who stands in front of a door. She places her hand on the door handle and pauses.
"Do you know where this leads to?" I ask her and she nods her head and opens the door. We both enter slowly and look around to find an empty room. It has steel walls and a steel floor with a metal door, wide open.
The only thing that made this room interesting was the fact that the walls had scratches going down them like they had been made by a human. Robyn sucks in a deep breath as she looks around while the fight club pours into the room.
"Does this room have any significance to you Robyn?" Simon asks her.
"Yes. I have a friend who used to live in this room. My room was on another floor so I didn't get to see him much. Although he was being kept here because he was an unknown species. He's dead now." She says calmly, going towards the door and peaking out into the corridor.
"Did the scientists kill him?"
"In a way, yes. He committed suicide. That's how most people die here. The corridor is free because no one lives on this floor anymore. We'll be able to get through until we get to the stairs part. Follow me." She says, changing the subject. I give a wary look towards the main members of the group.
Robyn strolls out the room, not giving a look towards the massive scratches on the door. We trail after her into the corridor, leaving the boy's room behind.
The hallway isn't any different from the room. It has the same type of steel on the walls and flooring. Every once in a while, we would come across a mark on the wall or some dried up liquid on the floor that would make everyone even more scared of the place.
"Clover?" Oscar comes up beside me, whispering. "Do you think we will make it out of here alive? Every single one of us in this fight club?" He asks. I take a while to answer.
"Everyone knows the danger of what they're getting themselves into. They know that there is a possibility that they won't make it out here alive." I respond, trying to make sure that no one can hear me but Oscar.
"I'll protect you if you need me to Clover. I know I'm not as strong as you but I'll risk my life. For you." He tells me and I look at him to see if he's meaning it and he is. I can tell it in his big brown eyes.
"Thank you, Oscar. I appreciate it." I say, smiling.
"Are you scared? About going up against the scientists?"
"Yes. I'm terrified." I respond immediately. He gives me a look that I can't identify until I hear someone whisper my name down the front. I leave Oscar and go down towards Robyn. She stands where the corridor splits off into two.
When she sees me, she puts a finger to her mouth, signaling for me to be quiet and points down the hallway. I carefully look down to see two guards, guarding what seems like a stairway. The first guards we come across look difficult but it can't be too hard for the attacking group to take down.
I order my attacking group down to the front and show that there are guards. They understand immediately and get ready to fight. As we're about to attack, a hand grabs my wrist and I turn around to find Olive and Dominic.
"You can't fight. We need you here leading the group." Olive whispers.
"Guys, I'll be fine. I'm a vampire. You've seen what I can do." I tell them and then turn back to my group. They await my orders. "Ready? Go!" I shout and we charge into the hallway.
The guards see us instantly and point their spears that they hold at us. Someone uses their telekinesis to take the spears and their weapons out their hands so that they can't hurt us.
Two people combine their powers together to create a sand tornado, making the guards fall onto the floor and then getting buried in the sand. Their heads pop out the top and their faces show fear. "Please don't kill us!" They beg.
"We weren't going to kill you," I say, earning a disappointed sound from the group behind me. "We'll just knock you out. Jase? Electricity please."
"See ya later guys. You'll wake up in prison in about 24 hours." He smirks at them and then sends jolts of electricity through their bodies, causing them to faint. "Nice work guys."
"Hey, that's my line! You did amazing, all of you." I tell the attacking group who all seemed pleased with themselves. Thankfully no one got hurt as the guards weren't that tough to take down. Robyn comes towards the front again and looks down the staircase.
"Attacking group go first because we might come across more guards on the way down. When you reach the next floor enter the first door that you come across. It should just be empty if it's still the same from when I left."
"And if it isn't?" Asks a girl from the healing group.
"Well, that's why we're sending up the attacking group down first. Right, let's go." Robyn directs my group down with me leading at the front.
I walk slowly down the stairs, being careful that I might run into a guard any minute. But every time we passed a corner, there seemed to be no one.
When we reached the bottom of the stairs, there were no guards that I could see. Even my group seemed surprised that we hadn't encountered anyone on our way down.
"Right, first door we come across," I say and come face to face with a door. I open it and it looks like the rest of the building. Everything in steel.
Except for this time, there were no scratch marks on the wall. There weren't even any signs of anyone ever living in this room. Once my group deemed that the room was safe, everyone in the club came into the room.
"Robyn? What's the plan?" I ask her as she walks in behind everyone.
"I'm going to search this floor with an attacker and defender to see if there are any guards. Once I get back, we'll head to the next floor." Robyn says and picks two people and heads out.
"So we're supposed to chill here until she finds the next case of stairs?" Rebecca walks around, sighing.
"I guess. Just chat amongst yourself but always stay on guard. We don't know if someone might come in any minute." I tell the club and they go into their separate friend groups.
I, however, decide that I want to have a look around this room. Something doesn't seem right about it. It's like it got made for no use.
I leave everyone chatting and begin to walk around, making sure that I don't miss anything that could show what this room was once made for.
I nearly get around the whole room when I come to the corner. I'm about to pass it when I find a lever on the wall. It's so small that you could miss it if you're not up close.
I grab hold of it and pull it down and the wall opens up. It takes me only a moment to realise what was opening up in front of me.
"Clover? What are you doing?" I hear a voice say but I'm barely able to understand who it is. Because right in front of me were two bodies. Dead bodies.
It was a woman and a man. The woman had long, jet-black hair that looks frayed and knotty. She had pale skin and her eyes were wide open with ocean blue filling.
The man had brown shaggy hair, with a side fridge. It all was in knots, the same as the woman. He has a pale face and his eyes were green, hard to miss.
They both had bruises on each of their arms and legs. They looked to be wearing the same clothing, with a badge on their chest. It looked like to be fangs with a shield behind it.
I recognise this badge from somewhere. I recognise these people. They feel so familiar to me.
But then I realise. They were my parents.
**********************************************************************
Hello, my darling! I have come back from the dead!
I'm really sorry I haven't been updating recently but when I say that I was busy, I mean it. I've been on holiday twice with practically a days break in-between. Then I was supposed to have weeks break but then that ended up being my moving week so I was soooooo busy.
And now it's a Saturday and even though I went round my dad's place, I tried my hardest to write and I ended up writing 2800 words so I split this chapter into two so I won't have to write in two weeks.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. It's not a great one as most of the drama happens in the next one. Promise me. Two of you have seen a sneak peak ;)
