1. Everything Short Of Normal
CECELIA STARK HATED SCHOOL. It wasn't because she hated learning or having to get up early and spend eight hours a day in what most students essentially called Hell. With her being a Stark she was a genius just like her older brother so she got along fairly easily in school. The reason Cece hated Midtown High School had to do with the students.
Now the students at Midtown High didn't bully her or anything like that. It was quite the opposite actually. If anything the students were always being extremely nice to her and always acting like they were her friends; essentially making her the most popular kid in school. Of course, she already knew why they were being so nice.
They wanted to meet Tony.
This had been happening before her brother outed himself as Iron Man and now that he had it seemed to only get worse for Cece. No matter where she was she couldn't get a moment of peace without one of her "friends" asking if they could hang out after school at her place. And despite giving the same answer all throughout the day, she knew she'd be giving it a few more times before she left the school grounds.
"Hey, C! Wait up!" A voice called out from behind her causing a small smile to grow on her face as she slowed her pace.
"Hey, Peter. What's up?" She asked the younger boy with a smile.
Peter Parker. One of the few real friends that Cece actually had. He was the first person she had met that didn't pretend to like her just to meet her brother. Yes, she knew that Peter was a huge fan of Tony but not once since he found out they were related had he ever asked her if he could meet the older Stark. Cece was grateful for that and it was that exact reason that Cece had been contemplating on taking Peter to meet Tony one day. It was the least she could do to thank him for being her best friend. But, if she took Peter she'd probably end up taking Ned too and Tony probably wouldn't be able to handle Peter very well much less would he be able to handle Peter and Ned together. The only one Tony might be able to handle would be MJ as she was pretty... closed off. Which meant she probably wouldn't go. Maybe she'll just convince Tony to show up to Peter's birthday this year.
"The sky. Duh," Peter replied with a playful grin as he pointed his finger above them.
"I will drop kick you, Peter. I don't care that you're fourteen."
"Sorry. Sorry," the brunette replied throwing his hands up in mock surrender. "So, do you - ah!"
Peter was suddenly cut off as Cecelia grabbed his hand, yanking him away from the school gates and over to the brick wall behind her. He stared at her incredulously while he rubbed at his wrist. "Why did you do that?"
"Paparazzi," the girl replied, leaning her head back with a sigh. "They're always trying to get a shot of me, the youngest Stark, as they say, but I refuse to have my face plastered everywhere. I want to have a normal childhood where the only things I have to worry about are if my crush is going to return my feelings or if I'm going to find a date for homecoming. Teenage things."
"Ok," Peter nodded his head slowly. "So how are we getting out of here without being seen then?"
A smirk slowly found its way onto her face as she spoke. "Around the back."
✯ ✯ ✯
"THIS WAS A TERRIBLE IDEA!"
"Well, excuse me! I'm sorry I didn't anticipate extra paparazzi in the alleyway behind the school!"
Peter and Cecelia had made their way back into the school without being spotted by the mob of reporters that didn't understand the meaning of privacy. In Cecelia's opinion anyways. They easily snuck through the school since they weren't supposed to be there and pushed through the backdoors only to be greeted with flashing lights and dozens of questions being thrown their way.
"Cecelia, how's life as an average teenager?"
"Cecelia! Is this your boyfriend?"
"How long have you and Cecelia been together?"
"Are you ready to inherit Stark industries?"
"What are your ideas for the future of Stark industries?"
"Run!" Cecelia shouted over the questions, the two teens bounding down the alley as fast as they could with the paparazzi hot on their heels. How these people could run so fast while carrying microphones and cameras without tripping each other up would always be a mystery to Cece.
When the two had finally managed to ditch the mob they stopped to catch their breath just as a black SUV pulled up in front of them. The passenger side window rolled down to reveal Tony Stark looking at the two teens with an amused smirk on his face and Cece could just faintly make out a slight smile on Happy's face as he looked at them from beside Tony. "Need a lift?"
"I hate you," Cece scowled at her brother as she slid into the backseat next to Natalie, Tony's new assistant. "You want a ride home, Pete?"
"I'm good. I actually have something to do. I'll see you tomorrow, C." Peter politely declined waving at his best friend with a smile. She waved back and pulled the door close with a soft thud.
"You forgot these this morning."
"Yeah, no shit, Sherlock," the younger Stark replied sarcastically as she snatched her custom made Stark glasses out of his hand and slipped them on, her own personal A.I., MERCURY, greeting her and informing her of the paparazzi's location.
✯ ✯ ✯
"I DON'T SEE WHY YOU HAVE TO BE in here." Tony muttered causing the younger girl to roll her eyes at him.
The brunette was in one of the many labs of STARK tower working on upgrading MERCURY's system as well as duplicating her matrix in order to implant her into a watch, something she was less likely to forget over her sunglasses. She had a holographic blueprint in front of her that she would look at and edit every few seconds as she continued to work on the two objects laying before her. Unfortunately, the only problem was that she was doing it in his lab like she didn't have a lab of her own. "You know damn well why I'm in here, Anthony. Your lab is bigger than mine and I'm working on two things so I need two tables."
"My lab is not bigger than yours," Tony argued, ignoring the fact that she just called him by his full name.
"You have a whole floor for your lab. I have half a floor."
"Well, if you wanted a bigger lab all you had to do was ask," Tony muttered as he turned his attention back to the blueprints for one of his newest Iron Man suits causing Cece to release a chuckle at his obvious annoyance with her attitude. But what did he expect? She was a Stark, his baby sister, after all. Other than making great inventions annoying each other was what they did best.
The duo fell into a comfortable silence inside the lab, the only sound being the occasional clank as Cece dropped one of Tony's tools and it clattered to the floor when she got to excited about a new upgrade to give to MERCURY. Eventually, the silence was broken as Cece finished up and watched Tony work on his suit.
"Hey, Tony?" Cece called out to him after a few minutes of silence. "What's it like? Having the world know your secret? That you're Iron Man?"
"Well, considering I'm still alive," Tony huffed. "I'll say it's going pretty good so far." Tony glanced over at his sister expecting to see at least a hint of a smile on her face from his joke but all he got was a frown in return.
"That's not funny," she said glaring at her brother. "We already lost mom and dad. And I almost lost you once already; I can't go through that again. I can't afford to lose you too. You're all I have left."
Tony wrapped his arms around her smaller figure gently rubbing circles in her back and pressing a kiss to the top of her head. "Hey, hey, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it. It was a joke; a very terrible and stupid joke. I'm not going to leave you, not for a very long time. So please stop crying. Please."
"You better not," the brunette sniffled her words muffled by Tony's shirt but not too bad that he couldn't hear her. "Or else I'm leaving right after you and giving away the company."
"Pepper would never let you."
"You don't know that. And neither do I. We'd just have to wait for that fateful day to find out."
Tony chuckled before pressing a kiss to the top of her head again. "I love you, Cecelia."
"I love you too, Anthony."
AUTHOR'S NOTE
And here it is! The first chapter of my first ever Wanda Maximoff fic. I know not a lot happened in this chapter but I wanted the first chapter to focus on Cece being a normal teenager and her relationship with Tony.
And while I know Peter should not be fourteen in this as we don't officially see him until Iron Man 3 in the movies and he's only a child in that I just thought it'd be nice if I threw him in here and gave Cece a friend that wasn't trying to use her to get to Tony.
I hope you guys enjoyed reading this chapter as much as I did writing it.
Feedback is much appreciated and I hope to see you in the next chapter.
Hugs, kisses, and all that good stuff.
