#68

What prevailed after I was hit by this beam of light was worse.

The whole place became pin drop silent.  I could even hear my heart beat clearly. Even the trees and breeze remained immobile.

"W-wha-t creature are y-you?" The girl creature asked.

What creature am I? She got some balls to ask me that question?  We should all be questioning what she is and not the other way round.

Then, as if struck by a realization she immediately gasped out.

"oly tar! O my tar! Are you JJ?"

That even got more shock reactions from us all.

olly tar? What the hell is tar?

And how the hell did she know my name?

I rose with care and dusted the soil and dried leaves off my body.

I stretched my arms, legs and jumped a few times to check if I had lost a body part.

Nope, all body parts intact.

"So... who are you? And what the heck! You almost killed me, how do you know my name, and how am I not dead? I'm pretty sure your friend just died from that lightening strike."

"Tsk... ee ad it coming a long time ago. Even though I'm surprised you aren't dead, I'm very relieved. I don't know aw I would've explained to the Agwam that I killed the uman."

Ok, I didn't know what was more weird. Her funny accent or that her partner had died from her strike without even a blink of care from her part.

"What do you want?" Meg said interrupting her.

"Wouldn't you wanna know uu I am first?" She said with a sigh.

This creature certainly sparked a lot of interest in me, I mean, apart from the fact that she had scales as her skin and long red hair, she wore no clothes. Not even an underwear. I suddenly became ashamed of my thoughts and looked away.

Before I could finish my thoughts,  Dean landed a heavy punch to lady creature making her stumble to the ground.

Damn... I didn't see that coming.

"She asked you a question, you better start answering now." He spat out.

"What the dreamy tar is your problem guardian prince!?" She screamed out while holding her bleeding nose.

I couldn't hold it in any more  and began to laugh.

I had never heard such curse word before.  Dreamy tar? Yeah, right.

But yet again?  How did she know he was Guardian and Prince.

"I will not answer any of your questions you slimy lime." She said looking straight at Dean.

Slimy lime? Was that as insult? Holy shit, I couldn't believe people like this existed, it was hilarious.

"I only answer to my Agwam."

"Come on! At least could you tell us your name? I can't keep calling you lady creature in my head. " I asked.

"O, yeah. You can call me Kasit."

"Kasit? Wow, that is a... um... nice name."

"Of course it is. Did you expect me to have a funny name? Tsk..."

Wow, I gotta say, this creature was out of this world.  I didn't know what she considered a funny name, but 'Kasit' wasn't a not funny name.

"Hmmm, by the way, I love your skin. It's so... Pretty."

"Awn, thank you JJ. I do have a beautiful skin don't I?"

Huh! Wow.

"Of course. So... what creature did you say you are again?"

I kept the conversation going, knowing that was the only way to get information. And of course,  seeing that she loved talking about herself, it gave me the confidence I needed.

"I never said anything about what I am JJ."

Oops... she is not stupid JJ, she is not stupid.

"But, since it's you that asked, I will tell you."

Wheew...

"I am a Laccarmee."

"What?! "

Both Dean and Meg screamed in unison.

"But, I thought dragons were extinct." Meg added

What! Dragon?

Immediately after that statement, Kasit's expression immediately changed.
"I am not a dragon?  Laccamees are not dragons! Dragons are extinct,  Laccamees are not. Don't you dare call me a dragon. "

That was a touchy subject I thought.

"But it's the same thing.  Laccamees were born from dragons. " Dean replied.

"Do you slimy snugs  want a lecture on the eestory of laccamees right now?"

"Nope, we definitely do not want that," I replied quickly.  I didn't trust that Meg wouldn't agree to a history lesson,  I wasn't just cut out for that.

" I didn't even know dragons existed."

"Of course you don't know, you are supposed to be uman remember?"

"Yeah, true. But how did you know all this about us?"

"It's all thanks to our Agwam."

"And where and who is this Agwam?"

"That's the clan's leader, ee is like our aighness and King. And ee and the whole clan are awaiting your arrival now."

I turned to Meg only to notice the uncertainty in her eyes.

Looking at Dean didn't reassure me.

I wondered what was going on in their minds.

"Uh... In case you all have forgotten,  some of us are still tied up down here." Jody screamed out.

Shit, I had totally forgotten about them.

"I'm so, so  sorry," I said whilst running to them.

After cutting down the rope which held them, we all sat round the three creatures. Of course Wulf didn't forgive them easily and proceeded to tie them the same way she was bound.

It still baffled me how the creatures didn't care that one of them was dead. They didn't even seem bothered that they were sitting with the dead body.

Apparently,  the creatures were half dragons. The half, meaning that they weren't big, scary animals that breath out fire. Instead, they had human body (not including the dragon scales), and possessed the power of a dragon which was not breathing out fire, instead,  they had the ability to render every supernatural useless.

They could easily render every supernatural powerless, by blocking the link between a person and his or her power supply.

The night arrived quickly and just as I had promised myself,  I took the first night shift. I wasn't going to sleep anyway, at least I was going to do something productive.

I was staring at the black, night sky when I heard footsteps coming my way.

Turning around I was met with Jody.

"You also couldn't sleep?"

"Yeah, something like that."

She sat beside me and gave a very long sigh.

"You know JJ, I don't know how you do it."

"Me? What do you mean?"

"You know, I became a captain just three years ago. My reason being that, I wasn't well accepted back at my home place."

That got my attention, Jody?  Not accepted?  Yeah, right. It was almost impossible not to love her.

She laughed at my expression before speaking again.

"It's hard to believe right?  But it's the truth.

My Dad was the best transporter in Valhalla.  He and my mom met during a time travel incident"

I could see the joy in her eyes as she spoke of her parents.

I had never bothered to ask about their family members,  it never occurred to me that they may have had a life outside of being captain.

"My mom, had been running away from a suitor at that time, which made her time travel to the past where she met my father. Of course, when she returned to her time, she looked for him and they fell in love.

Everyone talked about how powerful they were. Up until this time, only a handful of people can time travel, it's the most successful thing to accomplish as a transmitter. "

"Wow, that's so cool Jody. Your parents are really powerful then. That must be where you got your amazing talent from. " Of course Jody was really an amazing transporter as well as warrior,  as far as I knew she was the only transmitter in the academy.

A sad smile suddenly appeared on her face.

"That's the problem JJ, when I was born into this world,  everyone expected me to be just that great."

"But you are."

"No... JJ, not until three years ago, I didn't even know how to transport."

"Huh?"

"Unbelievable, right.  For twenty years, I lived as a commoner in a house with that much power.

I remember the first time I transported. I always dreamed of that moment and how happy I would be.  But when it happened,  that was the saddest day of my life."

"Why? What happened?"

"The place I transported to, was my home, precisely my Parents' room where I found their dead bodies."

What!  I froze at that statement.
I was so surprised by that revelation that I had forgotten to breath in and ended up choking and coughing my lungs out.

"JJ, calm down will you. You shouldn't die on me now. She laughed."

I didn't know what to say, I was speechless.

"Uh..."

"You don't have to say anything JJ. Don't mind me, I'm glad though. The headmaster found me that day, and here I am now, training towards being the first ever warrior transmitter.

" Wow, I never thought you had such a sad back story.  I'm really sorry for making you relive that."

"What, come on JJ,  I'm really thankful to you. Honestly, I didn't have anyone to pour my heart out to like this, I'm really glad you're here to listen.  It feels like a burden has been lifted off my shoulders."

"Well, if you say so, I'm glad to always be a listening ear."

I turned to the group to notice them all sleep without a care.

" Don't be fooled by all the carefree act JJ.  You wouldn't believe what they all had to go through to get where they are now.

Sometimes when I look at them all, I think to myself that my problem isn't really a problem compared to what many of them had to pass through."

"Damn, Life isn't easy at all. It's really sad."

"You know,  I see the way you treat and behave around the prince. We are not stupid JJ. For some weird reason which I don't know.  You seem to  trust him more than you let on."

"What? Trust? No, never."

"Oh JJ, you don't know it yet, but you do. It's a good thing though. Seeing as he is literally the only person who can understand what is happening with you right now."

"What! I don't know what you mean."

"Of course you don't,  only someone who has gone through the same thing can understand."

"Huh!"

"Ahh, forget all I said, sometimes I just speak randomly.  I don't even understand any of what I just said. But I just want to let you know that I'm here for you, we all are. You are part of our family JJ."

"Thank you so much Jody, you don't know how much it means to me."

"No need to thank me."

After that, we stayed up watching the starless sky.
And at the early rise of the sun, we set out to continue our journey.

~~~~~~~
Meg had communicated with the headmaster, and a decision was made which only Dean and Meg knew the reason for.
Instead of going right where Hell occupied, we headed to the right where the Laccamees live.
"Why exactly are we following these creatures to their slump?" Wulf grumbled.
"There have been a change in the mission, " Meg started.
"When we get to a safe location,  the headmaster will reveal it to us all."
"And by safe location you mean?"
"The cave of the dragons." Meg replied.
"We are not dragons! Aw many times do I need to correct you all. We are Laccamees."
" Laccamees,  dragons.  Makes no difference,  you still live in caves."
Oh no. This is going to be a long day, I thought.
It's been seven days since we left the werewolf pack and we still haven't come to a final decision on how to stop the demons attack.
That's just frigging nice.
