#62

Night came all too quickly, and we all retired to our beds.

I found it hard to stop thinking of all that had happened.  Ever since I stepped into this world, I almost always find myself in life threatening situations, and today, I had escaped by pure luck. If Ro hadn't been with me, or Jobber hadn't appeared in time... I shivered just thinking about how far apart my head would  have been from my body.

It wasn't long before sleep found me, but just like always, I wasn't humbly welcomed into the dream world.

~~~~~~~~~~
I found myself in a strange, unfamiliar land... no scratch that, it wasn't unfamiliar,  it was a place I had unfortunately visited before.
The unending vast field,  filled with overgrown dry plants stared back at me. 'What the hell' I thought.
Just then, my beautiful, and annoying pest, graced me with her presence. She came barging into my head with the grace of a falling angel.
"Redder something is wrong."
"Of course something is wrong Cicero, in case you hadn't noticed we are once again lost in a nightmare."
"Don't be stupid Redder,  I'm talking about this place,  something is wrong with it."
That's exactly when my fingers began to tremble from the effects of my good ole tingles.
'Shit, what now? ' I thought bitterly.
"This is where you run Redder, whatever it is isn't a good thing."
I did as advised,  or rather tried to, but my legs wouldn't move.  'What the bloody hell is going on? ' Terror gripped me hard, the tingles moved upwards to my shoulders indicating the high level of danger.
The more I tried to move, the harder I was stuck. Then I felt it.
Something was slowly crawling up my feet. No, not crawling,  it was wet and sticky, and it was growing around me, it wasn't water as its thick red color made a statement.
The plants around me began to shrink and fall, and I stood glued to a growing pool of red liquid around me.
'Red liquid?   Oh my God! It couldn't be what I think!  It couldn't be blood. ' But as it kept increasing towards my waist at a fast rate, I realized it was blood.
The whole field was already covered. Instead of a dry land with dry plants, it was a sea of blood already at my shoulder level, and I still couldn't move my feet.
Mustering all the strength in me, I fought the numbness in my legs, calling to whatever powers I possessed to help me, but of course nothing happened and the red liquid had already covered me whole.
'I can't die, no, this is a silly dream, I will awake soon. ' Even as much as I tried to assure myself,  I knew it was a lie, I wasn't safe anywhere,  not even in a dream.
I stretched above the blood to drag in a huge amount of air before going back into the sea. I had to do something.
I could feel the rest of my body except my legs, so if only I could get my feet unstuck, then I might be able to use my arms to propel my body upwards.
So with determination, I reached for my sneakers, and as fast as I could, I unlaced it. Trying to get my legs out of the shoes proved difficult, my breath began to seize and a strong wave of dizziness hit me at once.
What is wrong with me, I wasn't about to give up, never will I succumb to death. So with the last remaining breath I possessed, I pulled my legs off  the shoes and like magic I  felt my legs.
Without wasting time, I swam upwards to safety as fast as I could.
I wasn't even completely on the surface,    when another wave of tingles exploded my fingers.  And just when I thought I was safe, a strong iron grip took hold of my ankle and I was dragged back down.
~~~~~~

With a scream, I jumped up from bed. What the hell was that? A dream? My body shook vigorously as a result of my fear, or was it cold? I held tightly onto my wet blanket.

Why was it so cold? I froze as realization dawned on me. Wet blanket?

Looking down at my body and bed, a chilled striking ice went down my spine. I saw blood, I was covered in blood, all around me was blood.

My scream was stuck somewhere below my throat, goose bombs filled my skin as I scrambled far away from my bed. My hair was sticky and smelling, I couldn't even cry, all I did was, walk out of the room, looking for a way out of all this madness.

I badly wanted out,  I'm done with it all, I wanted nothing of this world anymore.

I walked as far as I could,  barely noticing my surroundings,  or even the sharp pain in my left ankle.

" It's going to be alright Redder"

"Yeah, that's the problem,  I don't want alright,  I want out."

"That's your emotions talking Redder."

I stopped walking and stared ahead. My emotions? I couldn't help but laugh out loud,  yeah, my emotions.

"I can't even rest a minute without feeling terrified of my surroundings.  Even the trees laugh at how miserable I am, and you tell me it's just emotions?  Ha-ha-ha, this is fantastic."

"I totally understand how you feel, we will get through this Redder, we will."

"We? We? Ha-ha there is no 'We' just me. I don't want anything to do with all this weirdness, I need out and I mean out of everything,  including some random, annoying voice in my head."

The silence I felt afterwards was torture,  but I was passed caring, fear had already filled my heart, it didn't matter anymore, nothing mattered.

"What are you doing here!" Someone bellowed.

I didn't even bother to turn around or look at the invader of my space, I only kept on walking.  But judging by how mad the male voice sounded, he didn't like me much.

"Banshee! You better stop there right now!"

That made me pause,  banshee?

Then I was jerked out of my thoughts by a far to rough hand that pulled me back with force, causing me to stumble to the floor.

"What the bloody hell is your problem!" I screamed.

"What do you think you are doing out here alone,  do you know how much danger it is deep in the woods?"

"Why do you even care? If I'm not wrong, you want me dead as much as those wolves did! So give up your stupid attitude and let go of me!"

"You really are a fool. Give up your childish behavior and follow me now."

"To hell with you!" I cried out. "To hell with all of you! You pretentious bastard. You always look down on me because I'm human! Do you think I want to be here? Do you think I enjoy being hunted every damn day of my life? So just because you have a perfect life and you are a perfect guardian and captain, you think you can just punish me the way you want to? I'm done with all this, the false bravery, I have to pretend I'm okay all day so no one will cast me out."

"Just what have gotten into you at this late hour? Give it up and come with me."

"Don't you get it? I don't want to come with you? I don't like you so you don't have to take care of me, just go your way."

"Will you stop behaving like a spoilt brat and behave yourself for once? I can't believe I'm having this conversation with you."

"Spoilt brat? You call me spoilt brat? At least I'm not a self obsessed idiot who believes everyone should fall to his feet and worship him! To be honest,  I don't blame your father for regretting having you as a son, you should just go and leave me alone."

Not until I was done with my rant did I realize what I had said, I immediately looked at him in shock about to apologize and noticed the immediate change in his persona, darkness clouded not just his eyes,  but his whole being,  but in a blink of an eye, it was gone.

I stared in shock as well as horror, I had never witnessed such a terrifying thing. Did I think my dream was scary? I didn't want to find out what that darkness in him could do. It wasn't a visible darkness, no, it was the darkness that made my whole body tingle instead of just my hands.

He brought his hands up towards me, while I shook in fear.

"What happened?" I heard him say.

"Huh!"

I looked in his eyes to understand what he was talking of,  only to notice that he stared back at me with what I could only describe as 'understanding'?

He took a handful of my hair and took a sniff of it.

"This is blood."

If I  wasn't so confused, I would have answered, ' thank you captain obvious!"

But my reply was. "Yes it is."

His eyes became as hard as ice and he looked at me with so much superiority, "Why are you covered in blood?"

"Isn't it obvious?  I had a blood bath."

The glare that followed my answer reminded me of that darkness I had a glimpse of, which made me shut my mouth tight.

"Come with me now."

It was an order, which I tried to follow, but the pain in my ankle suddenly intensified, and I fell to the ground with a silent scream.

The pain was so intense that I almost blacked out. Dean came jogging back.
"What is it?"

"My leg hurts so much," I cried out.

He immediately raised my pants up and took in a deep breath.

"When did this happen?"

"Not more than an hour ago."

I looked down at it and goose bombs filled my skin. It looked swollen with a very deep shade of a red handprint around my ankle. What the hell!

I was so confused,  so the grip I felt on my leg in my dream was a hand? Someone had been there with me and tried to drown me a second time?

My hands trembled with fear.

"Can you walk?" Dean asked.

"I think so, I can try."

And he helped me up. As soon as he did though,  he used  both hands to scoop me up bridal style.

"Don't say a word," saying that, he walked quickly out of the woods.

~~~~~~
He had taken me to his room, dumped me in the bathroom and commanded me to get my filthy body clean, and also warned me of putting dirt in his space, then he left, not even bothering to find out if I could walk or not.
I managed to do all he commanded and even put on some clothes I found waiting for me. 'My clothes.' Then sat down, waiting for the prince to return.
Immediately he entered the room, without knocking,  he threw a leather bag my way, and said. "Apply that to your wound."
It was a vile thing in an oval shape, black in color and looked like a stone. "What is this?" I questioned.
"Salve."
"Where did you get it from?"
"Will you shut up and quickly apply it so you can get out of my space?"
Tst tst so grumpy.
I did as instructed,  and by the time I was done I looked at him, I remembered what I had witnessed in the woods, and what had caused it? Do I apologize? do I mention it? What do I say? I thought.
"Whatever you are thinking of doing, get that out of your head now."
My cheeks immediately felt hurt. "Shut up, I wasn't thinking anything."
"Good, now get out."
Shit, I can't. I'm too scared to go back to that room, and I'm too proud to admit that.
"Are you scared that I will hurt you? What's the rush psycho?"
"I said get out."
Damn it, he didn't fall for it, maybe if I kept talking he would allow me stay.
" So..."
"No, get out."
I stood up with reluctance,  and slowly leaped to the door. I looked back at him to see that he didn't even care to check if I had successfully reached the door.
With a sigh, I opened it and went out.
"Wait!" I heard him say, and immediately rushed back in.
"Shut the door on your way out."
