#60
It felt very different telling them about all the dreams I had encountered with the woman, it was even worse describing her.
How do I describe someone who scared me too much. The only valid description I could give was that she had a crown and a white face.
The headmaster had asked me to describe the crown, but apart from its black and golden color, I couldn't remember any vivid detail of it.
Honestly, whenever I saw her, my full attention was given at running away not trying to figure out the design of her crown.
Right now, me and the captains were taken to a local restaurant where we were told served the best dere's breast. It was owned by the chief Oba's mate, an old woman who cooked to pass the time.
I half expected her to behave as old as she looked, but she was surprisingly agile, strong and very demanding, going as far as dragging her mate by the ear for coming back late for lunch.
I thought of her as cute and charming, but that was until she looked me in the eye and a loud gasp escaped her mouth, she stared creepily at me. "She is the one in the prophecy isn't she?" she had asked, while I glared at her.
The chief Oba excused her behavior as being old and surprised to see me, then they went in together.
We all ordered and sat round a table, waiting for the food.
But I couldn't help but think back, this encounter reminded me of the unknown prophecy that had spoken about me the first time I arrived here.
It was strange.
Looking at Meg I questioned her.
"What was that about? I remember a talk about a prophecy could you elaborate please? "
She looked at the Others for confirmation before speaking. "We can't talk about this openly, so I'm going to connect my aura to all of you, JJ you have to let me in. "
I didn't know how, but I let Cicero take over, and just like that, her voice rang in my head.
"Alright," she said.
"Since you all can't communicate like I can, if you have a question just voice it out, but make sure you keep it coded, the question can be heard but not the answer."
"As for the prophecy, you remember we told you there was a prophesy which led us to earth to get the power orb?" I nodded.
"Good, that wasn't the only prophecy. Along with the divination of the orb came a riddle.
Beware Redder, of What could turn a warrior weak, of What could make the heart sink, of What could make the hands bleed?
Beware, the path ahead is strewn with danger. Step not out of the circle.
Foolish hearts, heed my warnings, you've been wrong before, don't be wrong anymore. "
I was speechless. Not only had I heard the exact words before, I was very sure it was directed at Redder, who was me. "
"The same riddle was prophesied when Dean was found as the guardian, with the exception of the word Redder. And we still can't fathom the meaning of the riddle now that another guardian is found.
We believed that the orb was Redder; our saving grace and what Dean would use to protect us.
But now, it's not hard to guess who Redder is, it is definitely not the orb," she explained.
"The werewolves also had their prophecy as you can tell. Theirs isn't about an orb, instead it's about the imprint of a lost soul, which is you. But the tricky thing is that, that prophecy was backed up by that same riddle," she finished.
I didn't know what to think, it was a lot to take in, there was so much going on all at once, I had to think about Anna trying to kill me, the evil spirit using her, being a guardian, being an imprint to a lost soul, whatever that meant, and about a confusing riddle.
No wonder I was kept at the dark all this while.
Before anymore could be discussed, our food arrived. My stay with the Wolf's taught me that when eating a dere's breast, nothing could make your mood sour, it was simply a divination of pure happiness. So I silently devoured my food.
After the lunch, we walked back to the pack house, on the way, I couldn't help but glance at the training ground, was it against the rules to train with the werewolves? Because I needed it, I didn't like being thrown around like a rag.
On reaching the pack house, Meg suggested we go on with our discussion, but I didn't want to, I'd had enough depressing talk for one day.
I think Ro picked up on my reluctance, and helped me out.
"Come on Meg, we just had lunch. It's not healthy to talk after eating. Hey JJ, what do you say? Let's take a walk. "
I didn't even wait until he finished talking, I grabbed his arm and ran out. I guess I was that desperate. The truth was that I was scared of finding out more about myself and about the prophecy, whatever it meant only spelled danger.
"Woah, calm down tiger, I didn't know you liked me that much," he said with a wink, making me laugh.
"In your dreams monkey, I had to get out, our conversations were getting depressing."
"That's so not true," he replied with a laugh. " You are just a lazy listener, you barely think or listen you are too quick to act."
"Hey, it works for me though, thinking is overrated."
"I can't believe I have to give you a thinking and listening lesson, alright, follow me."
"Where are we going?"
"You'll see," came his reply.
It wasn't long before I realized where we were headed. It was as if he had read my mind. We came to a stop on the training ground.
"What exactly are we doing here? "
"I want you to observe the way they trained, let me see how you think."
"Hmm... I don't know what you want me to observe, they all have the same fighting style."
"Really? Look closely JJ. "
I did as he said, but still came up with the same answer. Yes, some were more aggressive than others, but either way, they all fought in the same pattern.
"What is it you want me to see?"
"Look over there, the guy with a gray short and his partner, now study just the both of them, do you still think they fight alike?"
I looked at the guy in question, he was aggressive as hell, kicking and throwing punches to his partner without a break.
His partner seemed aggressive in blocking the blows, but it wasn't enough, he never attacked until he was sure the hit would make an impact. The guy with the short never saw his partners blow coming, and just when he felt in total control, his partner will attack a weak point.
It was like I was transfixed watching them exchange blows, and just like the guy in a short, I didn't know when it happened, but he ended up on the floor with a broken nose. His partner had used precision and patience to win.
"Wow!"
"Yep, now you see what I'm talking about?"
"I do, they both had aggression, but each had their own fighting style."
"Good, now let's see how good you are in reading the other fighters on the field."
We walked around, while I learned new ways to know my opponents next move. I also learned what weapon Ro favored amongst others, he told me how much bond he shared with a bow and an arrow. "It's almost like a second skin," he said. It made total sense, he controlled the wind, there wasn't any better weapon for him.
He asked me what my favorite weapon was, but apart from a sword I didn't like any other.
"Alright, I guess it's time to test whether you listened or not," he said, coming to a stop.
"Test?"
"Of course, " then he left me and walked to a group of wolves, after a minute he came back with a boy, the first boy I had observed who had won with patience, control, and precision.
"Hi, " the boy said.
"Hello, I'm JJ nice to meet you. "
"I'm Tuff, it's my pleasure. "
"He is your partner for the first test," Ro said.
"First? There is more than one?"
"Get in position JJ."
Standing in the middle of a growing crowd, Tuff stood opposite me and went down to his preferred stance.
I stood straight, legs opened slightly. It would look to others like I was almost bored or standing in a lazy stance, but it was quite the opposite, that was my preferred fighting stance, it wasn't a good balance to others, but it was perfect to me.
I knew he was aggressive, and at the same time careful, but he didn't know how I fought, hell, I also didn't know how I fought, so I used it to my advantage.
He didn't attack me first like I predicted, he waited to see my flaws and take advantage.
So I gave it to him, my fighting style was full of flaws, but it was my style.
I attacked him, I went hard and fast, I had to overshadow his aggressiveness, but I had to be even more precise. I remembered during his first first, his right knee was affected.
So with brutality, I attacked that knee, bending and breaking it in impossible ways till he gave up.
It wasn't a problem because werewolves healed incredibly fast.
It went on that way for a while, I was beaten by some, but I won others.
I was presently fighting a young, petite, girl who was as fast and sneaky as a snake. I absorbed every blow she gave, while dishing out my own, what helped me a lot, was the fact that she couldn't predict me, since I had no fighting style.
Just as I had put her to the ground, my tingles attacked.
She frowned, stood up and looked at me in confusion as if she didn't know what was happening.
"Redder, I think you should run!"
I didn't need to hear it twice, because I felt it, it was that same tingle. I looked around for any sign of Anna, but she was nowhere to be found. Then I saw the girl in front of me, but she didn't look normal, she had a dark look in her eyes, like the one Anna had.
I stepped back, only to be stopped by someone, it was Tuff, beside him where the other three people I had fought, they all had dark eyes.
Ro didn't wait any second, he threw the girl to the side, grabbed my hand and prepared to run, only that we couldn't. Everyone who was present in the training ground, had that strange look.
We were surrounded by more than twenty wolves, who looked thirsty for my blood.
It got worse, as if controlled by a remote, they began to break bones, transforming into their wolf form.
