#50

With a loud gasp, I shot out of bed. I was doused in sweat and I clutched to my chest while taking in deep breaths; my heart raced as if I had run a thousand miles.

I tried calling for help but ended up in a spree of coughs. It felt like I was dying; I couldn't understand my bearings.

Someone came in, handed me a cup of water, and I gulped it down as fast as I could.

I could finally breathe, I took in deep breaths, relishing the feel of the cool water in my lungs.

I looked around, only to notice the strange room, I had woken up in.

It looked like a hospital room with two beds facing each other; I lay in one and the other was occupied by another girl.

"Hello Dear, how are you feeling?"
I flinched upright, upon hearing the hoarse voice of a woman standing beside my bed.
She was so tall, I had never seen any woman this tall in my life, she towered over me by a good ten feet. Well... I might exaggerate a little bit, but she looked like a huge mountain, with long golden hair.

"Hello, I know you are confused, but you don't need to be scared. You were brought here by your friend. You were unconscious for a while," She spoke with a hoarse voice dripping with a thick accent.

" What?" I questioned back.

"Oh, I'm Doctor Shina, the pack's doctor."

"Shina? Doctor? What's going on?"

"Hold on, I'm going to get the others, I'll be back." Her accent was a weird one, She rushed out of the room, and came back not a minute later with Dean and another huge man, who was covered in tattoos of different sizes and shapes.

I sat up straight, looking at Dean in puzzlement.

He didn't say anything, he simply stared me down. I turned to the other man and looked at him with raised brows. He was part of the group of men we had seen in the woods, he had a shaved head with tattoos scattered across the tan skin on his face.

"Do I have something on my face?" The unmistakable dark rumbles came out of his mouth. I choked on my breath on hearing it. What the hell? He had the voice of a viper, not that I knew how a viper sounded, but I could imagine it was that deep.

The Doctor chuckled at seeing my reaction, while Dean stifled a laugh, but I was still left with a gaping mouth.

"Well... How are you feeling?" The doctor asked.

I cleared my throat before answering her, "I'm fine, I don't know why I'm here in the first place."

" What do you remember last, can you tell me?"

"I remember running in the woods, from some wild wolves, then being kidnapped, and everything else is kind of blank."

" Okay, you don't remember how you got out? And everything else?"

"I don't. What's the problem? Is something wrong with me?"

"No, not at all, I think you are still in shock, it's a way of dealing with things, you just need to rest and everything will come back to you.

I was given more water and food, I ate as I had never before. Even though the soup tasted like a mixture of toothpaste and bitter leaf. I still ate it all and even asked for more.

After that, I slept off, dreaming about seeing myself at a beach with real dudes serving me.

-----------

I woke up to the sound of whispers.
"Stop that, you are going to wake her up!" Someone whispered.

"I'm trying to sing her a lullaby, it's you who will wake her with your irritating bark!" Another voice answered.

I opened my eyes to witness two figures sitting on the opposite bed. After taking in their appearance, I used my palm to clean my eyes and looked at them once more.
They didn't look like two different people at all. They looked exactly alike. They were brunettes with tan skin and looked around my age. Both skinny with hints of muscles on their forearms. The only thing that differentiated them was that. One was wrapped up in bandages, and the other seemed to wear the most expensive clothes and shoes.

"You call that singing? You sound like a dying whale," the one in bandages said.

"Oh no, you did not just say that. And here I was, actually missing you when we couldn't find you. I shouldn't have wasted my efforts." The other twin replied.

"Of course you have to miss me, no one tells you the truth about your terrible singing." the mean twin stated dryly.

" Yeah? And no one tells you about your ugly face." the soft twin responded. I didn't know whether to laugh or state the fact that they had the same face.

But that's when the mean twin noticed me. "Sleeping beauty is finally up."

She seemed familiar like I had heard her voice before, but I couldn't recall where.

"You appear to be speechless, if I remember correctly, you were quite a talkative," her voice dripped with that same unknown accent.
And that made me realize where I had heard her voice before. It was the girl from when we had been kidnapped, the girl opposite my cell.

She looked a lot different without all the blood and bruises. A lot healthier.

"Uh... Hi," I whispered.

"Hello, my name is Lilly and my annoying sis here is Annabell. Don't mind her, she had lost it ever since I remember." The soft twin exclaimed.

"Will you shut it, and be useful? Go get the pack's doctor." On hearing that, the soft twin glared at her sister and stumped out of the room, leaving me in the worst uncomfortable silence ever."

I kept staring at the ceiling in an awkward silence before the door burst open once again.

"Hey dear. I believe you are well-rested, how do you feel?" The doctor said upon her entry.

But I could only stare ahead in silence. I couldn't believe everything that had happened, I couldn't believe that little Alexa had died, I didn't save her, I failed my promise to her.

I had been useless and is still useless. Cicero felt even worse, I didn't understand why, but she was heartbroken as if a part of her had been lost. My heart ached the more I thought about Alexa. Why did it hurt so much, I didn't even know her.

Silent tears flowed down my eyes. I could remember her gaze even after she was dead. She had stared at me as if I was her savior and what did I do? I killed her.

If only I was smart enough, if only I extended my shield to her if only I didn't think of just myself, if only...

"Hey!!" A loud voice brought me out of my thoughts.

"Don't cry alright, everything is going to be fine," the soft twin with expensive clothes said with a little smile on her face.

I didn't notice before that Dean, the big guy with tattoos and an elderly man of about seventy or more had entered the room. They all looked at me with different levels of surprise in their eyes, but the old man looked more with understanding rather than surprise.

"It makes sense now," the old man stated. "The prophecy is being fulfilled."

"Huh?" I replied.

"Oh, don't you worry yourself little one. Everything will fall into place soon."

Why does this sound familiar? I thought. Everyone seems to always leave me with confusion.

"I'm Oba Lawal, but you can call me Chief Oba, everyone does."

I nodded my head, " I'm JJ, nice to meet you."

"Hello JJ," I flinched in shock, at the rough sound that came out of the mouth of the tattooed man. How could someone's voice sound so rough and deep?

"Welcome to the Blue moon park, I'm Alpha Andrew, we are deeply grateful to you for your help. If not for you, we wouldn't have found the rogue's base and our pack members would have been dead, you saved their lives." He said all this, but I couldn't fully comprehend, how did I help? Everything was confusing.

It went on that way for some hours, I was introduced to a lot of people who, to be honest, I didn't remember or care to for that matter.

This was a werewolf pack, the leader was the tattooed man named Alpha Andrew, his 'mate', which is another name for a lover, or a second half as I was told, was the soft twin who I finally got her name as Lily, and the mean sister, as Anna.

Right now I was seated on my bed, with a boy who did nothing but talk, he was left in charge of taking care of my needs. But all he did, was talk, talk, and talk. I was grateful for that because I didn't need to say anything, he did the talking for the both of us.

His name as he kept on reminding me was Benji, he also had the big statue that everyone here seemed to have, as well as the weird accent. With a mop of thick brown hair on his head.

The door opened and the Doctor, Chief Oba, Dean, and Alpha walked in, saving me from another long story that Benji was about diving into.

After exchanging greetings, they all fell into a long silence and kept staring at the eyes of each other. All except Dean had a glossy look in their eyes as if they were communicating with their minds or something.

And at once, Benji shot up with a loud gasp. " She has been imprinted upon?"

They all threw angry stares at him, especially the Alpha, and Benji gulped loudly before sitting back.

"What is this about?" For the first time, Dean spoke, and he sounded pissed. I guess it wasn't only me that was left out of the secret conversation.

They all turned to look at him, and then back at me. They stared as if deliberating telling the secret.

"If this has anything to do with me or JJ, we have every right to hear it, so you better start talking." I was surprised at how calm he looked when giving such a stern order.

With a long sigh and nod from the Alpha, Chief Oba spoke. "Then, we better sit, for this is going to be a long story."
