#36

They charged at each other. Running so fast it was almost a blur.

Everyone was quiet, the atmosphere was tense.

Dean ran with an almost impossible speed, but at once he bent backward, maneuvering his body to the point his back was almost touching the ground.

The reason for his reaction came almost immediately. A long spear appeared in Vic's hand from nowhere slicing the air, where Dean had once been.

"Woah!" I couldn't help but exclaim, how did he even see that coming? And most of all, how did he react so quickly?

They exchanged positions and began to circle each other.
My heart hammered in my chest in expectation of what was to come.

All of a sudden, Dean burst to Vic with a more incredible speed, with a sword in hand.

Now, just where did that come from?

He struck Vic with the sword, but Vic easily sidestepped him, and attacked with his spear, stabbing the space Dean had just left.

It became a battle of who dodges more. Vic stabbed, Dean, sliced.
Vic jumped, Dean dived.

I tried hard to keep up, my eyes even became teary at a point, because I wasn't blinking.

I stared in wonder at Vic, as he barely escaped a knife that hurled at him out of nowhere. But even then, it didn't stop him from sending a powerful strike of his spear into Dean's chest.

The whole arena became pin-drop silent. I stared in shock at what I just witnessed.

Dean did not fall to the floor as I had expected, instead, a loud humorous laugh echoed. And I just realized it came from Dean's mouth.

"Wow, Now this is a fight I'm willing to put any effort into." His voice rang with mock anticipation.

I wanted to laugh, but what rang in my mind was, he wasn't putting in effort?

As if with a switch, the large smirk on Vic's face dropped into a scowl.

Dean reached out to the spear on his chest and brutally pulled it out. Almost immediately, the cut on his chest healed.

My mouth hung open wide, throughout the exchange. To say I was shocked was an understatement.

Without warning, they crashed at each other again, but this time, without a weapon.

Vic went low and grabbed Dean's legs in the process. He did a 360 turn and flung Dean a good twenty feet away, and Dean crashed into the iron bars separating the field from the stalls.

He bounced off the floor, landing on his feet with a little annoyance on his face. He looked like he just scraped his nails.

But Vic wasn't sitting back to wait for Dean to regain his strength, and he attacked once more.

Dean, however, was fully ready for Vic. Just as Vic neared him, he leaped himself, and took to the air, jumping over Vic, while extending his legs and kicking Vic to the head, sending Vic crashing down on the barricades.
He landed with a smirk, and vigorously raised his hands in the air as the crowd cheered for him.

Turning back, Vic had a sword in hand, and raised it high in the air, before charging at him.

Vic, pushed Dean back as he swung his sword too and fro. Then Dean twisted his body to the side and grabbed the wrist of Vic holding the sword, he went low still holding the wrist and bent to an awkward angle, but his full weight was placed on the twisted wrist. Making Vic drop the sword.

Then Vic used his other hand to give a good blow to the face of Dean that had him spinning around.

I squeezed my face and bit my lip, I could feel the impact that the blow did, it would have left anyone unconscious. But not Dean.

Vic tried to throw another punch, but Dean caught his fist and pulled him closer, then used his elbow to smash in between Vic's elbow and wrist hard.

A loud grunt of pain was heard, and I winced and cringed as I saw the bone on his arms shift outward to an impossible angle.

A punch was thrown at Vic's jaw, so powerful that he stumbled to the floor. But just before he hit the floor, he kicked out his legs in an attempt to bring Dean down, but Dean easily jumped over him.

Dean launched himself at Vic, with clear precision. But like magic, just before he was able to deliver the blow, the ground shook, sending him sprawling to the ground.

Literally, the ground shook. Wow, I never actually knew what gift Vic possessed. But it made sense now, he controlled the earth. That was why even his walking steps always felt heavy and thunderous.

They both groaned before standing up again and began circling each other. This time around they stayed that way for a while, both observing their opponent.

Then, as if a click resounded in their heads, they lunged at each other.

A big rock came hurling with the super speed at Dean, but it was all a front, because just as he dodged the rock, a stone, that had a very sharp end, and looked very deadly, came up from the floor, just a few feet behind Dean.

It was placed with a thoughtful calculation, that looking at it, I knew it was unavoidable. Because if he was to fully dodge the rock thrown at him, he was going to end up on the sharp rock. He was focused on dodging the rock, that he didn't even look back.

I was off my seat faster than you could imagine, screaming along with everyone at the circumstance he was placed in.

All of a sudden, he landed on the sharp rock, or rather, were they sharp rock was supposed to be.

"Huh!"

I looked to the far left of Dean, to see an innocent but deadly rock laying still.

Dean jumped up fast and sent what looked like a fireball at Vic through his hands. At first, it was just one at a time, but then it got faster, and more difficult to escape the ball.

But just like that, a sand wall appeared in front of Vic shielding him from Dean.

Then the ground beneath Dean, spread wide, came up and began to swallow him. While the wall that had been a source of protection now attacked Dean, it came with full force, with the intent of knocking him out.

The ground had swallowed Dean to his waist, and the wall has been just a few inches away from him when a bolt of fire exploded, and the sand and walls fell to the floor as if to worship.

He wasted no time and ran to the sharp rock laying on the ground, picked it up, and threw it with precision at Vic, but of course, he was ready for it. And he sidestepped it while welcoming a heavy blow on the side of his head, where Dean's foot just left.

Before he could regain his stamina, another powerful blow bounced off his left jaw, and then a kick to the stomach, an elbow to his back, a dropkick, and a powerful hurl of his body to the other side of the field.

Just as he was about to land on the floor, the sharp rock came lunging at him again, and this time it was too late, he couldn't escape it. Just before the rock pierced his skin, it disintegrated into pure sand.

I was standing on my seat the whole time, clapping along with others.

Vic stood up, with a little difficulty and went into his stance once again, before darting to Dean.

He attacked with full force, throwing punches, here and there. He was brutal, his punches parked a strength, but Dean was able to deflect it.

They were almost the same, the way they fought was like looking at someone and his reflection.

Dean gave a round horse kick, and Vic caught his leg easily using his elbow to smash Dean's leg.

But Dean used it to his advantage, by throwing his other foot in the air, his knee came in contact with Vic's face, but he wasn't done.

With a swagger to his steps, he sent a mighty kick to Vic's abdomen.

Vic bent forward with hands-on his knee, Dean came closer to finish him up, but then he froze, his features changed from confident and cocky, to what I couldn't read.

What happened? He was about to win.

Then Vic shot up with an incredible speed, giving Dean an uppercut.

Even with blood dripping from Dean's nose, it didn't stop him from kicking out Vic's legs from under him and throwing a series of punches at Vic.

There was a glint of anger on his features that wasn't there before.

In fact, as if by a switch, Dean changed, and instead of a fight on the field between two opponents.

It became a beat down. He didn't wait for Vic to get up like he had been doing. Instead, he attacked and attacked, and threw him around like a rag. Even going as far as kicking him to the air like a football.

It became a battle of survival for Vic, and a battle of destruction for Dean.

He was ruthless, and evil, he didn't care that Vic wasn't even trying to stand again. And I knew that something had happened on the field that we had missed.

His body began to vibrate and he stood still trying to control himself, but bolts of fire exploded from his body, all directed in one direction.

Vic.
