#32

I heard it loud and clear, it was a growl.
Oh my God, what have I got myself into?

I took a step back, ready to high tail out of there.

Then I heard movements behind me,
Oh my God, it's behind me? I wanted to cry.

There was a door in front of me, which was opened. So without a second thought, I bolted in.

In just a mili-second later, I realized my mistake, and I knew I was dead meat. Because I just entered into the lions den.

Growling at me, was a very, extra large black horse. I could estimate it was nine feet tall. It was very huge. And it had wings, long black wings. The winged horse sneered at me with its sharp razor like teeth.

I gulped in fear, I wasn't ready to die yet. How did I even get here, I only wanted to go to bed.

The winged horse roared at me, making me stumble to the ground. What the hell! Could horses roar? Now I was stupid, obviously, the once with wings could.

It wasn't coming close to me, neither was it moving away from where it was. I noticed, whenever it tried to move, it would sneer and move back.

It was as if it was chained. But looking around it, I noticed it wasn't chained.

I looked at its legs to see a black substance surrounding it on the floor. And one of its hinge legs was covered with the black substance.

It tried to leap towards me, but once again, it couldn't. And this time around I knew what was wrong. It was injured and it didn't look pretty.

It was at that moment I also realized something, something big. Even though I was scared to death, I didn't feel the tingles. It was either, my sixth sense was asleep or I wasn't it danger.

I stared at my fingers weirdly, what was going on. Then I heard a very loud thump. As I looked up, I saw the winged horse on the ground, I guess it couldn't stand any longer.

Now, it was a battle between common sense and JJ's sense. And you could guess who was winning.

Common sense told me to run away, while JJ sense told me to help the creature.

So I walked slowly to the horse, looking at it carefully and expecting it to jump at me.

It did nothing, only following my movement with its eyes. When I got to the leg with the injury, I crunched low, still looking at its eyes. And it still did nothing to me.

I took a brave moment to glance at the injury, and I gasp loudly. Oh My God! It was bad.

I touched it gently, but the horse flinched and sneered at me.

After inspecting the injury closely, I realized that there was something inside it. Whatever caused the injury was still in his leg.

But how was I going to get it out, when it kept flinching.

Just as I thought that, I loud bang echoed behind me. I jumped up frightened, only to come face to face with a very pissed off Dean.

"What in the Deity's name are you doing here," he asked with a raucous voice.

"Em-eh, I am eh," clearing my throat.

"I was strolling, and he, eh it needed my help. The horse I mean, it's injured, I was helping it."

I closed my eyes in prayers, hoping he wouldn't kill me. But I heard his footsteps coming close to me in a hurry. I opened my eyes slightly to see him drop a bag to my foot and go down to inspect the injury of the horse.

Breathing out a sigh of relief, I noticed he was covered in sweat and mud. And he frantically tried hard to stop the bleeding, by trying to bandage the leg. Which was the worst thing to do.

"Hey, what are you doing, are you trying to kill him?" I shouted at him.

Quickly, I pushed him aside, got on my knees and started working frantically. I wasn't a nurse or doctor. But I knew it was wrong to bandage the leg without removing what was inside first.

"What are you doing?" He breathed out.

I didn't answer his question, I focused my attention on trying to locate, the stuff in his leg.

But he got impatient, and the next thing I knew, I was floating on the air away from the horse.

I screamed, "what are you doing."

"Get away from him," he bellowed.

"I was just trying to help, there is something in his wound that needs to be taken out, before you bandage it."

He looked at me then he looked at the horse and I slowly retreated down to the ground.

What the hell! I thought he had fire power, or do they have two gifts? I was sure the headmaster said they were gifted with just one. Then how did he lift me up, that was a Teek power.

Slowly I walked back to the horse who was very still and quiet. I slowly put my finger into the wound and searched until I found something.

Grabbing it gently, I pulled it out.
It was an arrow, or rather the head of an arrow. It was black and also covered with the black blood of the beast. But the extreme tip of the arrow was red.

Just as I was about to touch it, it erupted in flames, and the culprit behind that screamed at me.

"Don't touch it Banshee."

Huh! Who the heck is a banshee.

"My name is JJ, not Banshee." He only rolled his eyes at me and grumbled whatever.

"That was poison, you would have died if you had touched it.

Or I should have just let you do that."

"Oh."

He shook his head. And proceeded to bandage the horse. But before he did that. I noticed that the wound of the horse was already healing. Hmm, it actually looked so much better.

When he was done, he picked up the arrow head and examined it.
"So that was why he couldn't heal." I heard him grumble to himself.

I stood up ready to go back, but a very deep voice stopped me.
" Thank you Redder," I froze, what!

It wasn't the voice of Dean, and looking at how shocked he was. I was sure it wasn't him.

Then I turned to the horse, and saw him looking at me.

"Did he just say something?" I asked Dean.

While Dean opened his mouth, closed it, opened it again and asked. "Did you just hear him?"

Then the voice I heard before, spoke again. " Did she just hear me Voog?"

Now I was convinced that I was mad. I heard the voice, but I didn't see the mouth of the horse moving.

"What is going on? You heard that right?"

Dean kept looking at me with mouth open. As if shocked.

I shook my head, I couldn't take this, I was fatigued, I had to sleep, if not I would keep hallucinating.

About to head out of the place, Dean stopped me.

"Hey, Banshee! Wait."

"My name is not Banshee, psycho. It's JJ"

"Whatever, you talk like a banshee. Either way, I just wanted to warn you. Whatever happened here have to remain here. Do not mention this to anyone. Understood?"

Was he joking? After what I just did for him and his horse, that was the appreciation I got.

I looked at him with anger.
"Really? That is what you stopped me for?
And what if I say no, what are you going to do? Cut my tongue out?"

"That will be such a good idea, only that I would also cut out your stupid neck." He gravelly spoke.

"All you do is throw fake threats, you won't do anything. Your elders forbid you from killing me."

"Do you want to bet? I will be doing them and everyone a huge favor." He said giving me a big creepy smirk.

By now we were standing very close, just a foot away, glaring at each other. I didn't realize how tall he was before. But now I did, he towered over me, and he seemed to realize that fact, because he bent a little, to emphasize how much he towered over me.

His pretty blue green eyes shone with anger down on me, his sharp jaw was clenched so hard, I wondered if it hurt. Even his nice sculpted nose flared with irritation at me.

And I knew, it meant a lot to him, not to speak about what happened here.

But I also had something I needed from him, and which meant a lot.

"Alright psycho, you win." I spoke with sudden confidence.

"Do not call me that."

"Yeah, whatever. I will keep this to myself, on one condition."

"What Is it 'Banshee'?" He asked, making sure to stress the name.

"You have to be my second couch, 'psycho' "

He laughed out loud and then stopped and growled.
"In your dreams little Banshee."

"Okay, no problem, I guess I will just have to explain certain things to the headmaster. I noticed he loves hearing me talk."
I said while sashaying out.

He grumbled something I didn't hear. Then announced.
"Okay, I will do it."

"Sorry, I didn't hear you?"

"I said I will train you."

"Oh, I know you will, you had no other choice." I said laughing to myself.

Then I left him standing there.
But I remembered another thing and ran back to him.

"Um, psycho, could you maybe point me in the direction of the captains wing?

I had to wait for him to finish with his horse, and then we walked to the captains wing.

On seeing my bed, I quickly jumped on it in relief. And closed my eyes immediately.

Dream world was calling me.
But just as I was about to doze off.
A soft feminine voice whispered in my head.

"Sleep well Redder, you did good today."
