#31
Chaos. It was chaos everywhere.
The turmoil in the cafeteria was something else. Everyone was happy about the two battles. But more about the Prince and Vic's fight.
I had haters, a lot of them. And even though, Monty was also hated, it wasn't as much as me.
As we walked out of the cafeteria, people kept throwing snickers at me.
"You are going to be crushed human!" Someone shouted.
"Because of you, the A troop will lose our captain." Someone else spat at me.
"Filthy human!" Another sneered.
It was better when I didn't know who I was fighting. Because not only did I know my opponent, I was sure she wanted to use the opportunity to crush me.
She wasn't a fair opponent at all. Because of what conspired between us, she was here to get me.
Now, I just had to win and literally fight for my life.
Meg escorted me to the garden for my training.
I remember asking her why she couldn't train me herself, and she replied that it was against the rule. She only had the power to pick who will train me. Herself excluded.
I met the headmaster, and we exchanged the usual greeting.
(Me talking animatedly, and he snubbing me while feigning sleep.)
"I can see, you failed your first assignment," He announced.
"Please, you of all people should know, that was an impossible task."
"Oh, really? Then I have to introduce you to a very good friend of mine."
Just as he said that. The big door opened and in came...
"Wait! What is that?"
A weird looking machine came sliding in. It was shaped like a man but had an iron in its body. The mouth was wide opened with something like a pipe sticking out.
It had two arms, and each arm had a wired rope dangling out of it.
Its legs were wheeled. And it came towards us like a professional, experienced skater.
"What the hell?"
"Until you get Dean here, Webline, my dear friend will be your coach."
"It has a name? And it will train me? My goodness!"
"Yes Jay girl. Now go and stand there." He pointed at a spot. And Webline rolled and positioned its self opposite me.
All of a sudden, without any warning, the rope on Web's right arm whipped me hard I cried out in pain, and before I could recover, another whip came lashing out on me again.
I wasn't quick enough to escape it, as I felt extreme pain on my back. Then my legs, my arms. And I knew that it wasn't going to stop.
It came once more to whip my tummy and I jumped back to avoid it. It kept coming and coming. But I kept running and running.
Then it changed. It started using its two arms with the ropes on it. And it became faster. I tried my best to dodge it as best as I could, but I couldn't escape it all.
The Webline, was aggressive. When I finally got used to its rhythm. And began to dodge it, it improved.
This time around. It stuck out its legs and tripped me. Immediately I fell, it pounced on me with the ropes.
I rolled away as fast as I could, but it came after me again.
I couldn't keep running forever, this thing is a demon. I thought. My whole body ached from the beating I was receiving, but I had no time to think about it or I would receive more.
We kept dancing around in circles. Until I was used to its movement once again.
Then the worst happened. Out of its mouth came a hot blazing fire directed at my head. I screamed and crunched low, but the whip came slicing at my skin. I jumped up again, only to go back down.
What the hell! Is the headmaster trying to get me killed?
I was scared now, I couldn't even take a break. I thought of running out of the garden. But as soon as I stood up to run, the ropes tied my legs, making my trip landing on my face.
But I had no time to think of the pain. I rolled out just in time to avoid another rope.
After a long while. I finally understood the rhythm once again. It reminded me of the dance classes I took when I was younger.
The webline moved as if choreographed, so I danced to its rhythm. Left, right, left, jump, right, down, roll, jump, left, right, and that was how it went.
It finally became easy, and the ropes weren't hitting me anymore. We dance for a while before the Webline, stopped and I turned to see the headmaster looking at me with a slight smile his face.
"That was better than I expected Jay girl.
Now, that was the primary level of Webline. Rest for a minute and I will change it to the next level."
It continued that way for hours, until, I was more than exhausted and my whole body went asleep.
It was as if he realized how screwed I was, because it was even past dinner time and he came up with more ways to torture me.
He only lets me take a few minutes of water breaks in between.
By the time he dismissed me, it was already pitch black. And the hallway was cleared of all Valkyries.
I faltered out of the garden in tears and travail, I blinked my eyes a couple times to get my bearings. It was already so dark, and the only light in the hallway was from a lantern hanging on the wall.
I walked for a while back to the captains wing. But I didn't realize I had taken a wrong turn.
The paintings on the wall, and stone walls should have given me a clue. But of course, things weren't that easy. Because I didn't notice it and kept going.
I dragged my foot sluggishly along the glass like floor, I rested my arms on the translucent walls, I wanted to sleep badly.
I stopped all of a sudden. 'Wait, what! Translucent walls, and glass like floor, with paintings on the wall. Paintings of weird looking objects. And it that...?"
" Oh my God," I couldn't help but whisper out. "Where the hell am I."
I stumbled in shock, staring at the painting in front of me.
"Are those the elders?"
Oh no, where was I? The elders portraits were on the wall, and there were other paintings on the wall that didn't make sense.
I stared down the hall in front of me, there was a portrait on the far end of the wall, which really looked familiar. I couldn't help but gravitate towards it.
It was in the form of a ball, a glass ball with blue sparkles inside it. It was hypnotizing. I couldn't tear my eyes away from it.
My hands itched to touch it. I stretched my fingers and touched the painting, but I wasn't satisfied.
That's when I felt a really strong pull to the door at the end of the hall. I stared at it for some time before taking large confident steps to it.
Pulling the door open was easy. "What the hell are you doing JJ, you should go back."
I stopped for a moment before brushing away my thoughts and stepped into the room.
At once, my whole body vibrated from the shock of something powerful. Whatever it was, made me come to my senses, and I turned around to run back.
Only that the weirdest thing happened. I couldn't move, my body was frozen.
Until I felt a pull that I couldn't resist. My body gravitated to a direction I didn't know of. I felt elated all of a sudden, I felt so good. Tingles exploded my body, but it wasn't a bad tingle.
I felt at peace, I wished to remain in this state of tranquility.
I walked to the inner part of the room, but I didn't seem to notice how the room looked like. My attention was fully drawn to the feeling I felt in the room.
I felt so strong, so powerful. I didn't even know what powerful meant, but I sure felt it.
With confidence in my steps I walked to a corner and just like magic, my heart stopped beating. I couldn't see, hear or even feel anything except the glass ball staring back at me on a wooden platter.
I stretched my fingers to touch it and all my lost feelings came rushing back at me with full force. My heart beat increased tell folds.
My fingers grazed it and everything blew up. My emotions where all over the place.
I felt a deep sadness that shook me to the core, and a tear rolled out of my eyes.
Then I felt like I just discovered a very big secret, but a good one. I was elated once again and I felt peace.
But it was cut short when my fingers exploded with the bad tingles. My sixth sense warned me of an impending doom. I had to get out of there.
I ran out of the room without looking back at the ball.
I ran as fast as I could, without knowing where I was headed. But I had to keep going. My body ached all over, but I didn't care.
After running for a while. I noticed once again that I was lost. In fact, this place didn't even look like I was still in the school.
I stood on a concrete floor, with crumbling walls that looked staled and old. It looked like it could fall apart any moment.
I stared in shock, I was damned to suffer in this academy.
" This can't get any worse," I whispered, expressing my bitterness.
And just like always. The universe was against me.
Because I heard a loud growl, like that of a wild animal or demon from behind me.
