_______________
The trial has started.
It's on.
My client is Amanda, seventeen year old who's still in high school, pregnant and assussed of murder. I'm the defense lawyer who's trying her best to win the case but so far nothing.
As per the information I got, Amanda belongs to a poor family with three older brothers and a mother. Her brothers don't care about her and her mother can't do much for her. She fell in love with Trevor Wells, son of a doctor. Everyone considered her as nothing but waste. Trevor hadn't known she was pregnant when he told her he didn't want to see her anymore. He'd only been acting on the advice-the insistence-of his parents. They'd been so positive that he was about to ruin his life by getting involved with a girl like Amanda who wasn't worthy of him, they'd threatened not to pay for college if he didn't listen.
Trevor started dating Ella, daughter of his mother's friend very soon. Amanda started stalking Trevor and called him many times asking him to take her back. On the night of murder, Amanda was driving her car with her neighbor, Heather. Ella was walking through that way and Amanda turned the wheel causing the death of Ella.
I don't believe the the last sentence and that is the reason why I'm here in the court as Amanda's attorney. This is the third trial and everything has gone out of my hands.
All the witnesses were against her. Trevor didn't accuse her of anything but he told the truth about Amanda's obsession on him. According to Amanda, it was Heather who turned the wheel but she swears that Heather didn't mean it and it was just for fun and it was too fast and that it was just an accident. At the same time, Heather's testimonial was against Amanda, she told the court that Amanda is the one who turned the wheel. Everyone including my friends, the whole court and the Judge believes that Amanda is the one who committed mistake but something inside me doesn't let me believe them. My friends were giving me grief for taking up the case. My hundred percent record of winning the case may break after this case but I don't care.
Amanda lifts her head and looks at me directly. Her eyes are filled with tears and my heart cracks farther open while my stomach cramps in shame. Where have I gone wrong?
I swivel my head to look at Roy Matthew, the prosecutor. His face is triumphant and filled with haughtiness. I look at Judge who gives me a regretful sigh. I sit there as they destroy the respect of a seventeen year old girl.
After half an hour, the Judge dismissed everyone and scheduled the next trial on Friday which is two days from now. I grab my bag and rose to my feet. I see Ella's parents who are glaring at me and when I walk towards them, Brick, Ella's twin brother takes a step towards me.
"My sister is gonna get justice and that whore is going to serve for what she did."
I didn't say anything, I stood there without uttering a word, staring right at his brown eyes. Roy gave me a smirk. "I told you, Allison, this case is mine to win and I'm almost there."
A small grin appeared on my face. "You're almost there, Roy but you didn't win yet. I repeat again, that girl has not done anything wrong and she will get the justice she deserves." I turn on my heels and walk away with Cassy right behind me.
"What in the world were you thinking, Allison? She killed a girl and why in the world are you supporting her and this is gonna affect your career badly. You may even loose your hundred percent win record, which I don't have to tell you is almost impossible to achieve." I ignore her blabbering as I walk through the busy hallway of court. I stop in my tracks when I find Daniel standing in front of me with his usual cold face.
I stand there, taking in the sight of him. I check my watch and it's sharp twelve. Punctuality! I step towards him with a grin plastered on my face. I remember texting him to pick me up from the court for cake selection and other things. "Hey hubby," I tell him, wrapping my arms around his neck. "Let's go."
Cassy's eyes widen. "Are you serious right now? The next trial is within two days, how can you be this relaxed?"
Well... I have that doubt too.
I frown. "I'm a bride and I would like to spend some time with my groom."
Daniel sighs, removing my arms from his neck. "You ready?"
"Yep!"
I wave at Cassy before walking with Daniel through the hallway in silence. Slowly, I peek him through my eyelashes, and he looks down at me through the corner of his eyes. I grin and his lips twitch.
"Liam," he calls, making me jump in surprise. I see a man in his early thirties walking towards us. Daniel turns towards me. "He's my driver." Liam smiles warmly at me.
"Nice to meet you, Liam. I'm Allison Hart."
"You too, ma'am." He sounds polite. Liam turns towards Daniel. "Mr. Avery?"
"We're ready to go."
"Sure, Sir. This way."
I blink in confusion as I follow him. Daniel sounds so...cold.
No. I think he's hot.
Perverted inner mind!
I find Liam moving towards black Audi SUV. Not a bad choice though I would choose Mercedes over Audi. Liam opens the door for me and I get in and Daniel follows my lead. Liam sits in the driver's seat and within seconds the car starts the journey.
I sigh, grab my hat from my bag, and wear it. I turn towards Daniel. "How do I look?"
Mmm.. like a devil?
He sighs. "Ridiculous," he mutters.
"Rude."
I turn towards Liam. "So Liam, how long has it been since you started working for Daniel?"
Without taking his eyes off the road, he answers, "Four years, Ms. Hart."
Four? He deserves an Oscar.
I agree.
"Good."
"Are you married, Liam?"
"Yes, Ms. Hart." I grin.
"Do you have kids?"
"Yes, ma'am."
"Wonderful." I clasp my hands together. Daniel gives me a confused look.
"How many kids? Boy or girl?"
Liam smiles, it's so wide I can see it from where I'm sitting without leaning towards him. "Two, ma'am. One boy. One girl."
"Fantastic."
"Do they call you papa or dad?" Liam smile widens.
"My boy calls me 'Dad' and my little girl goes with 'Daddy', Ms. Hart."
I smile at Liam. "I don't mind you calling me Ms. Hart but I'd like it if you call me Allison. That's my name and calling me by my name makes me feel more comfortable."
"Sure, ma'am... I mean Allison."
"Thank you." Liams gives me a small nod. "Do you mind if I ask you questions while you're driving?"
He shakes his head. "No, Allison."
"Thank you," I mutter again. Daniel looks amused but I ignore him as I turn towards Liam.
"Are you planning to quit this job? If you are then don't hesitate to give me a call, I would love to appoint you as my driver. You're a good company. I'll give you more than what he's giving you."
"Allison," Daniel calls out, narrowing his eyes.
"No, Allison. I don't plan to quit though I would love to call you if I think of quitting," Liam replies.
"Amazing. Now tell me Liam, you had a girlfriend in high school?" I ask, leaning back against the seat.
Don't you think that's too much information?
"What the fuck are you asking?" Daniel snaps, he glares at me.
I narrow my eyes at him. "Don't curse. I'm gonna charge you money if you curse again." Amusement lights up his eyes.
I turn towards Liam. "What do people call it, Liam? This...thing that kids have when people curse."
"Swear jar."
Seriously?
"Yep. That's right." Daniel sighs, probably in frustration.
Cling!
I sigh when I hear the sound from my phone. I open the phone only to find a text from Ben.
Your face is all over the gossip column. Check it. Soon!
A smile tugs at the corner of my lips. I knew this would happen. I google my name and select the latest news.
Daniel Avery and Allison Hart seen outside Tiffany.
The photos below show Daniel Avery entering Tiffany along with Allison Hart. As you all know, Daniel Avery is one of the handsome bachelor of America who's a billionaire business man. There were no reports of him getting involved in a relationship for past few weeks. He's usually seen with his family friend Miss. Annabelle Ronald who attended all the charity events with him for the past few months. They denied being involved in a relationship.
For past few weeks, Daniel Avery was spotted alone in every event he attended. So it came out as a surprise when he was seen with Allison Hart. Allison Hart, beautiful, hotshot lawyer just like Daniel Avery was not involved in any relationship for past few years. She always attended important events without a date.
Yesterday, Daniel Avery and Allison Hart walked inside Tiffany together and came out with hand in hand. From the photos below, we can confirm that that both of them are romantically involved. Allison Hart had a big stone on her finger which was not seen when she walked inside the shop so we can confirm that now she's taken. She's engaged and it seems Daniel Avery is the lover boy. This is the first time the pair has been seen in public. Both of them have not commented on it yet but we're expecting their response soon.
We can almost hear you asking what else we can share about Daniel Avery and Allison Hart. From what we've heard from numerous sources, families of both Daniel and Allison have their company involved so is this marriage another business deal? Is this just an arrangement made of money? Just like you all, we have the same doubts but the photos say otherwise.
Daniel had his lips planted on Allison's knuckles, looking tenderly at her and Allison smiled up at him in...love? Is she anticipating something?
Anticipating? What is anticipating?
"Liam? What is anticipating?" I ask Liam who smiles at me again.
"Expecting something."
I see. Expecting! Well...I'm expecting many things.
I know! That body of his, right?
"You're intelligent, Liam," I praise him, smiling. "You should come and work for me."
Daniel snorts. "Just because one knows the meaning of 'anticipating' doesn't mean he's intelligent."
I scowl. "Look Liam, he's insulting you. You should quit the job and work for me." Liam chuckles.
I pass the phone to Daniel, he grabs it from me, reads it, sighs, and freezes. I peek at my phone only to find him staring at our photos together. It was the where he kissed my knuckles, my ring sparkling.
Suddenly, for some reason, the atmosphere between us changes, charged with something electric. My breath hitches as my heart races. His head turns towards me, his eyes meets mine. All of a sudden, he closes his eyes, takes a deep breathe for few seconds. After another few seconds, he opens his eyes and the lust that was filled in his eyes vanished. He turns away from me, giving me back my phone.
I sigh.
Missed your chance.
I turn towards Liam. "So about that girlfriends?" He chuckles.
"Two."
"Good. Did you loose your virginity to a younger girl or elder?" I ask, I hear a choking sound from Liam.
What the fuck?
No swearing!
"What in the world is wrong with you?" Daniel asks, glaring at me.
"What? I was just asking." I purse my lips.
"Older," Liam mutters.
My eyes lights up. "Really? Even Adam and Ben lost their virginity to an older girl," I gush. "Whom did you lose your virginity?" I ask Daniel. His eyes flare in surprise. I wink at him.
"Liam, do you think Daniel is easy to seduce?" I hear a gasp from Daniel.
Wow! That's something I would like to know about.
He turns towards Liam. "Liam, I'm gonna raise the privacy screen. You can listen to your music," Daniel orders and turn presses a button causing a private screen to rise prohibiting me the sight of Liam.
"No," I whine in annoyance. "You don't talk to me, you just stare outside the window. I like talking and you don't have the right to deny it. I wanna talk to Liam. You're boring," I complain, folding my hands across my chest.
I shut my mouth for few seconds before opening it again. "Don't you feel anything when you look at me? Do you wanna kiss me?"
He inhales sharply. "Are you trying to flirt with me?" he asks, raising his eyebrows.
I grin at him. "Mmm...more like brushing up my seducing skills. Is it working?"
"No."
I chuckle, adjusting my hat. "Maybe I should try harder."
Yes!
"Jesus!" He tugs my hand, and before I know it I'm on his lap. He has his arms around me. "Shut up," he breathes.
"Bu-"
"Shut up for a minute, Allison, before I loose my patience." His words are so intense. My blood jumps. "Do you know what you do to me?"
"I do-"
"Shut up, Allison."
I scowl at him. "You're mean. You ask me questions and then you don't let me answer. You're immune my beauty, you look like stone with no emotions. I'm trying so hard to get you talk to me but all you do is sh-"
"Shut up," he growls. Before I know what's happening, he has me pinning against him and his hands on my face, pulling me in for a brutal kiss.
Finally!
Oh my!
Our lips meet with a fiery clash of desire and yearning. Our tongues duel, heavy panting and tentative touches. He removes my hat from my head and pull my hair down, letting it fall down my waist. He hands pull onto my hair hard as I moan against him. Pressing his pelvis foward, he groans when I start grinding against him. Abruptly, he pulls away from me. I growl in disapproval.
He stares at me, his blue eyes bright and he has an unreadable expression plastered all over his face. I smile at him, his lips twitch causing my smile to widen. "That was nice. Maybe we should try it again, don't you think so?"
His lips quirk up into a half smile. "You're something, Allison." I grin at him as I rest my head against his chest.
"I get that always." I hear him chuckle before I close my eyes.
When I wake up, I find myself wrapped around Daniel. I blink and stretch but doesn't get away from Daniel. I wrap my arms around his neck and press my face into the corner of his neck, inhaling his smell. The familiar smell of orange hits my nose. Daniel wraps his around me and caresses my hair.
"I hate waking up," I mutter as I pull away from him. I look up at Daniel only to find him staring at me.
I frown. "Do you always wear suits? You don't like casual clothes? Something which makes you look more like... hmm.. human?"
My inner mind snorts. Says the one who's a devil.
He shakes his head. "I was working, Allison. These are my work clothes."
"Right."
His lips twitch. "You look hot in your work clothes." My heartbeat has accelerated, and my cheeks are heating up again. Nervously, I tuck my loosened hair behind my ear.
You're blushing.
No! That's impossible.
Oh just shut up and concentrate on him.
"Did we reach the destination?" I ask, clearing my throat slightly.
"I guess so," he mutters, his expression both cool and amused.
"Sir, we're here," Liam tells from the other side.
I groan as I get off from his lap, running my fingers through my hair so that I don't look like I was ran by a train. I frown as I put my hat back in my bag. I grab my phone and opens the door. Daniel follows my lead as we stare at the huge building in front of us.
We walk inside the building in silence, and move towards the elevator. The door slides open, revealing a girl in her early twenties. She smiles us a small smile before stepping outside. Daniel and I step into the elevator. I turn my head towards Daniel only to find him already staring at me with an impassive expression.
"What?" I snap, clearing my throat. Before he could reply, the doors open. Daniel gets hold my hand and leads me out of the elevator.
I find a woman probably in her early thirties grinning at us. She steps towards us. "Mr. Daniel, Ms. Hart. I'm Angel Carter, your wedding planner," she greets, her voice strangely ethereal.
"Nice to meet you, Ms. Carter," Daniel tells, shaking her hand.
"Do you mind me calling you Angel?" I ask, smiling at her, warmly.
She shakes her head. "No, Ms. Hart. I like it."
"Good," I mutter. "You can call me, Allison. Now can we get to the cake selection?"
"Sure Allison, this way." We follow her to a room where I find so many cakes, sweets placed on a large table. She leads us to a U shaped couch. Daniel sits down and I sit beside him. Angel sits a little too far from me, she looks alarmed. She nods to someone, after few seconds few female staffs walks towards with cakes. They placed them on the small table set up in front of us.
"There are three choices for you. Lemon Summer Berry, Fresh strawberries and cream cake, strawberry shortcake." Angel gives me a bright smile.
I chuckle. Daniel looks at me as if I might bolt, eyes wide, amused. "These cakes are your selection?" I ask.
Angel bites her lower lip. "Mrs. Hart choose them. She said you'll like them."
I knew it! Damn my mother!
I take a deep breathe, trying to relax. I lean against his Daniel, his arm wraps around me immediately. I turn towards Angel with a small but sincere smile. "I'm allergic to strawberry flavor and I'm sure all these cakes contain strawberry in them. I don't wanna die the same day I get married."
Angel's eyes widen. "Oh my God! I'm so sorry!" She panics.
I shake my head. "Relax, Angel. Give us some options which you feel is good excluding the ones with strawberry flavor. We'll wait." She nods her head. "And Angel, I don't know what my mother told you about me but whatever it is, you don't have to be scared of me." I grin at her, a small smile touches her lips. She nods before walking away with the staffs.
I lean against Daniel. "Do you like strawberry?"
"No."
I grin. "Good because you'll not buy strawberries until you get rid of me."
"Okay."
"Now will you kiss me?"
Silence, and then, "Later."
"You're mean."
He smirks. "Which case are you attending right now that may end your hundred percent win record?" I freeze, his gaze serious and intense.
"How do you know about that?" I ask, leaning against him.
He gives me his phone. I roll my eyes when I see the gossip site.
Is the Allison Hart cold queen going down?
Those who don't remember Allison Hart, let me refresh your memory. She's hotshot attorney of the country with a hundred percent win record and she's among the top ten attorneys who get paid the highest. She started her career at the age of twenty and within six years, she started her own firm and had her name in the top ten attorneys of the country.
She charges for every second she spends for her work. She's also as the cold queen because of the way she deals with her professional life. So the latest she attended has been a threat for her record. With the final argument coming, Allison has not made any development in the case. It's also heard that Allison is engaged so is that the reason why she's loosing her professional power.
I close the website, giving back the phone to Daniel. "My record is not gonna break, at least not due to this case."
Daniel raises his eyebrows. "That sure?"
I nod my head in silent agreement. "Now can we get to the kissing part?" I ask in a serious tone. He chuckles and places a soft kiss on my hair.
"Later," he murmurs, I growl in disapproval.
