Chapter 4

Where, oh where is he? It's officially 4:12 and Colby isn't here yet. Like boi, if you planned this shit then at least show up on time. Oh, I just made myself laugh ha.

"Oh Baaaywatch... where's your little friend Colby slowby? He's suppose to be here by now!" Artemis sarcastically said.

"Yeah okay babe, he'll be here any second." I replied while rolling my eyes.

"Stop calling me babe," she said while flipping her hair back.

"Whatever babe,"

"Asshole." she stammers.

"Bitch." I respond.

"Dick,"

"You motherfu-"

"Hey guys," Dylan interrupts "shut up."

I cross my arms, walking away from Dylan, and Artemis who also happens to be crossing her arms.

"Oh dudes, he's here." Dylan says, pointing to the car pulling up.

"I'm here, I'm here!" Colby says, holding up the sign, "WOOO, I made it on time with minutes to spare." He exclaims happily while rushing to the main entrance. Dylan was already there on the large step ladder, ready to put up the sign.

"Hey, here, steady steady." Colby carefully loud whispers to Dylan's positioning.

"Yeah, I fucking got it dude. Aha and yup, done bitch." Dylan says. He hammers the last nail in the sign and steps down from the ladder and stands back in admiration at his handy work.

"Damn that's tight." He finally says.

"Yeah, looks legit." Colby adds.

"He better buy this." I say.

Everyone turns at me with a nod, I'm not wrong, if he doesn't buy this, then hell, we're screwed. Like fuck me, but come on, this plan has a fifty-fifty chance in working. We are kinda at a sixty-two point one one and a half (62.11 and a half?)  percent chance. The good part is not even coming yet, Mr. Manager is late and not on time.

"So Dyl, how many people are coming?" Artemis asks.

"Lets just say a lot. Or too many," he nervously laughs," I know a guy, who knows a guy, who knows a guy with lots of peeps."

"So you're inviting random people to a party because your guy, knows a guy, who knows a guy." I ask, raising my eyebrow.

"Pretty much," he says.

"Lovely, for a guy who wants to get arrested and have some dude selling weed by the pool." I said.

He rolls his eyes with a smirk. He knows it's true though!

"So Baywatch, got your eyes on any pretty babe." Artemis says coolly.

"Yeah, she just so happens to be standing right in front of me." I casually conclude. She looks at me, surprised. I'm not sure it was a blush, or anger. She began to speak, but I cut her off rushing.

"That bowl of beautiful chips is my pretty babe!" I say running past her, hugging the bowl.

"Idiot." Artemis says, walking away with her arms crossed yet again.

"You didn't think it was actually you, did you?" I say, raising an eyebrow.

"Just quit being an ass." She ran off in a stormy haze. I couldn't help it if I should feel bad for teasing her like that, but my assumption is she never liked me anyways.

"Pull your head out of the bowl, South." Dylan yells, "show-time!"

I put down the bowl and place it gently back onto the table and rush off in Dylan's direction.

"Hi sir, you received a very important phone call from our boss of the Treetopple industries!" I coolly say, holding a phone in my hand. "They want you to go to an interview right away, right away, you gotta go now sir!"

"Boy, what are you talking about?" Mr. Manager asks, snatching the phone, "Hello, who is this?" he brusquely questions in the phone. What he doesn't know is that Wally and Dylan are on the other end telling him he needs to be at Treetopple Industries downtown in Vegas.

On the other end I'm pretty sure it's Dylan faking our CEO's voice and Mr. Manager is totally buying it all, "This is Tray Topple, CEO of Treetopple industries, we've heard many good things about your position as manager in our leading Treetopple hotel in Los Angeles, California. We would certainly love to present you with a better position into the main corporate building. A better job and pay, come down for an interview in Vegas at 7:00 p.m but-"

"Wait, hold up sir, are you promoting me?!" Mr. Manager looked so excited, it's gonna be pretty sad crushing his little old man dreams.

"Yes indeed, do you have time to write this down? Yes? Okay so it's at-"

"No, no, someone get me a piece of paper and a pen!" He yells at me and Artemis who is sitting at the front desk.

Artemis fumbles with a pen and notepad she had in the desk but hands it to Mr. Manager nevertheless.

"Okay so 7:00 p.m, Vegas-" He writes.

Dylan cuts in,"45th floor in building 3, office room 17."

"Sir, I don't mean to be rude but... Vegas?! At 7 o'clock?! I can't make it on time!" He anxiously says.

"Then you better leave now."

"Yes, right okay thank you so much and everything you've-" He pauses, "Um hello?"

I explain he must've been busy and he hung up. Mr. Manager understood and rushed out the building to his car with his pen and paper. BINGO! He drove off, out of the parking lot and made his way to the highway.

"Guys! We did it! We DID it!" I scream, jumping up and down with Artemis who happens to be smiling pretty wide.

"Is he gone? Did we pull it off?" Wally asks, looking around the corner before creeping into the room.

"YES, we did it!" I yell while jumping onto him.

"Hug me Brotha!" Dylan loudly stomps into the room to tackle Wally and I. As we are all laughing at our glory, Artemis chimes

"Okay... Party time! Lets go, lets go!" We all stand up, and everyone's springing their arms in the air saying "Wooooo!" That kinda got interrupted when some woman rang the front desk bell.

"Can someone please check me in?"

Well, my plan worked. I can't believe it. How did we do it so well? Yo no sé my friend, yo no sé. (I don't know, I don't know)

Just so you know, I'm running down a hallway with my shirt off so I can go jump in the pool, people are here already!

I am wearing some pretty fly clothing with my swim shorts underneath. I'm looking hella fire. Like hella hella fire. I heard the music's beat pump through from outside. It was dropping some sweet tracks and I couldn't wait to see everyone greet me for this whole party. Dylan and Kai were already greeting people and I'm about to come out and tell them who to not mess with because we party kings are doing it for the party kingdom of party animals. Bow down to us dudes.

I open the door and the music is blaring through the speakers. It's sick. We got girls and girls dancing in bikinis, and some of my friends partying. A few greeted me as I made my way through the crowd. It was sick. I literally was having such a rush I just wanted to hang with every person I saw. Even though that adrenaline was making me so ecstatic, I had to go to the front where the people walked in so some dudes get the jist of who's running this place.

Dylan and Colby are in my sights as I make my way. I draw closer and spring my arms over them.

"Whats hanging dudes, we are running this party, drinks, chips, whatever is out by the pool." I say.

"Don't go into the fucking hotel and disturb the guests. Got it?" Colby adds.

"Damn Kai, didn't know you're cold." Dylan claims.

"Someone's gotta be the bad guy to fear. Statistically, parties with a security figure have more successful parties. And when I mean successful, nobody DIES OKAY."

"Aight, why don't a call up a friend in case this party gets a little too rowdy, we can have a security guard and make sure people don't get too drunk." Kai says.

"Kay I'm on it." Dylan replies.

While they were still having their conversation, I decided to walk off and party, they had it handled. As I was swiftly making my appearance through the crowd, I high-five a few people and give them some nods. I head to the pool and adjust my eye to the girls dancing and splashing in the water. Damn fire. I began to strip to my swim shorts and put my shirt off to the side. Though I noticed a familiar blonde standing to the side by a nearby bench under a tree. It was Artemis, looking rather gloomy, gloomier than usual. She was in a white crotchet bikini, and woah. She looked really great. I walked over to her, maybe I could just brighten her always gloomy mood to a happier one, we are at a pretty awesome party we worked all day for. It's six right now, and the sun is starting to set.

"Hey babe." I say, sliding next to her but on the bench while she was still standing.

"What do you want baywatch." All she did was give me a measly glance! Rude.

"What's got you down in the dumps?"

"Why do you care?"

"Well I'm a good person so I care."

"You're really just annoying." She bluntly says. I knew she was rolling her eyes, even if I can barely see part of her face.

"Well that's not a good comeback by the infamous Artemis."

"Not in the mood south." Her stone tone gave me chills, though I don't back off if you haven't already noticed.

"What's wrong Arty?" I groan at her.

She spins around, her hair falling all over her shoulders and her sunglasses splashing into the pool. She practically scream yells at me, "Everything's wrong, I'm wrong, and I'm so done with you and your bullshit at the moment. Could you please get your ass off of this bench and leave me the hell alone. You don't know when to quit and I'm surprised I actually find you the least bit attractive, but of course your selfish demeanor covers that fact up with your stupidity!"

"Ouch," I sigh, "I'm sorry." I felt really bad, I shouldn't have pushed.

She stormed off, maybe it was if she was about to cry. Never-mind that though, I followed her into the abyss of bodies.

"Artemis, Artemis wait up!" I yelled into the swarm of people. I spotted her golden blonde hair slash quickly through the masses, so I pushed my way through. I saw her run into the hotel lobby, though when I turned the corner, she was turning the corner to the elevators.

"Artemis, wait!" I wail. When I ran to the elevators, she got into one and as I was facing the elevator, I saw her. Her stormy gray eyes, filled with tears. A new pair of clothes sprung around her back. I could see her face staring back at me.  A face full of sorrows, pain, and broken puzzles. Her shoulders slug and her messy hair scattered perfectly on them.

I hated her looking like this, I hated myself for triggering her. I may not know exactly why she's so upset, but she is, and it's my job to pick her pieces back up and make her another puzzle for herself to solve.
