The Cabin (silenttomorrows)

The Cabin

This olde flame never wavers

It's glow shines bright and true

The warmth casts out the shadow

A constant light for you

every so often I return

dust piano keys

ting a note or two

i make sure the writing desk

is all ship shape

waiting for your words to spring love and mischief onto pages

the fire is made

logs ready

mantle has those china cows...

they used to be your mothers

if i pause

for reflection

in our pine mirror,

bought at the county fair,

i still see glimpses

of our life

we meet in that picture

in arms

sea

sky

scarves blowing

locked in time

clicking cupboard shut

folded fresh linen

stored away

bed dormant

laid bare

waiting

waiting

the key is under the stone
