Chapter 1

Year: 2018

Location: Hotel Inferno

Kumakura Toeyin opened her eyes to the silence of the night, shifting slightly under her bed sheets she couldn't help but shiver at the cold hand of the boy sleeping next to her. The room she was in was hot, extremely hot, yet there she was under the cover next to the boy of a sixteen yer old boy that was as cold as ice. It was highly possible he was sick yet she didn't want to bother with him.

She couldn't help but become uncomfortable as she felt how cold he was, it seemed impossible exactly how much his temperature had dropped over a few hours. He was freezing, like he was a cadaver. She swiftly got up from the bed slamming her back to the wall. There was just no way, maybe she was over reacting, low body temperatures didn't always mean that the body was dead. Her heart beat increased, something was wrong, terribly wrong, and the sound of crickets didn't help the situation at all.

Toeyin gulped calming her raging heart, various emotions swirled through her head she as manged to calm herself down. Maybe she was overreacting, that was highly possible considering how it was nearly impossible to have such a hot corpse when it was around 26 degrees Celsius outside the hotel and around 19 inside. She calmed down reassuring herself she was thinking too much and approached the body, her night clothes bean to unconsciously stick to her body due to the amount of perspiration being released by her body because of the slight heat. Her hand reached out touching the boy and shaking slightly as the cold invaded her cells. She shook him lightly and he rolled heavily falling off the bed with a loud thump. He was actually dead.

She stopped herself screaming subconsciously, it was early morning and waking the entire hotel won't solve a thing since he had been dead for a while most likely. She couldn't even call the emergency services as this was a 3rd world country, they didn't have a fully functioning one. Toeyin quickly ran out and knocked on the door of the person in the next room, nothing. She knocked louder nearly bruising her knuckles in the process, still nothing. She grit her teeth annoyed, before running down to the lobby.

She ran into the long dark hallway illuminated by lights, before running towards the stairs brushing off the elevator as it could possibly be time consuming and head to the lobby. About half way down the lights flickered before switching off, she stopped shocked that she still hadn't heard a single sound in the entire building. It wasn't possible that every single human being was asleep as the hotel staff should be preparing for the clients that should be waking up now, she stopped still unsure if she should go downstairs.

Toeyin opened up the door to the nearest floor that happened to be a passage to a corridor of room with one of them being a janitors closet, running to it she searched quickly and found a rather hefty old fashioned torch light that still needed batteries, she groaned in annoyance, maybe she should find one that was charged by electricity for convenience.

She carried on searching before finding an electric torch and heading back out to the stairs with the white light shining in front of her. Toeyin reach the reception but everyone - she discovered - had collapsed on the floor and soon enough she heard an ear piercing trumpet resound in the air.

She ran to the kitchen which was through the eating lounge as the loud trumpet resounded throughout the hotel, the kitchen was empty as expected because unknown to her she was the only living being in that specific hotel, everyone else had died leaving only her alive. She quickly ran in grabbing a knife as a loud announcement could be heard from outside that shook her to the core.

"Good day participant 106623, welcome to the Armageddon!"

Her face seemed to pale when she heard that word.

"Today officially marks the start of the first game, the aim is to survive this world for six months!" The childish voice came once again from apparently nowhere

"All the humans except the chosen have been put to death." She clenched her fists in anger, they were the ones behind all this!

"Good luck to all participants! I hope you survive till the next round!"

"Each participant had been given an ability card that can be stored in their body, please use your ability carefully!" The voice stopped and a card seemed to magically appear in front of her.

She looked down at the card in her hand.

Kiyoshi Ayumu forced himself up despite his splitting headache before searching for his rucksack that was a few feet down the isle. His blue hair dampened with perspiration as he grabbed to rather heavy bag of goods. In there luckily was a Swiss knife, some bottled water and some food he had packed for the journey. He picked it up as the body in front of him twitched, her eyes opening a terrible cut on her forehead.

Kiyoshi fumbled around in the upper cabins clumsily until he managed to find a first aid kit before helping her clean her wound. As she opened her chapped lips a loud trumpet sound was heard forcing the two to pay attention to it.
