Kakashi was confused when his Sensei's son appeared on the back of a strange man. He was also confused when he found out that the man was Naruto's uncle, and Kushina's brother.

But he was a strong shinobi and he would not show his emotions while on the job. He couldn't. But later, when he was off duty he would go to Sensei and Kushina's graves, he would tell them what happened and ask them for guidance and expect no answer. Just like he usually did. Then he would be late to meet his friends. Yes that sounded like a fine thing to do.

Inu promptly shunshined out of the room, leaving behind nothing but a few leaves.

"Well Naruto you may have guessed by now, but the woman Minori here came to look for is related to you." At Naruto's open gawking He could see that Naruto had no inkling of that.

"Really??" Naruto looked astounded, Jiji had said his family was gone! "Where is she??"

"Yes lord Hokage, I would like to know as well." Minori said, a stern look on his face. It was unheard of for the boy not to know his name was his, not just something pinned to him at random.

The aged leader sighed, rubbing his forehead and taking a puff of  his pipe. "Naruto, your mother and father died on the night of the kyuubi attack."

To describe Naruto as deflated would be a mistake, the hope kindling inside him had been squashed like a bug, destroyed like any other false hope he had been given. It was gone.

"This man here is your mother's brother, they're both from the old village of Uzushiogakure." The tired man watched happily as the boy's joy grew as well. Minoru stood in the corner, unsure of what to next.

Should I hug him? How does one meet a nephew for the first time when both of you thought you had no family left?

He settled with an awkward smile and a silent hello. This whole situation was becoming too much to handle.

"Oh and Lord Hokage? How come he didn't know about Kushina?"

"Ah... well that has to do with why she came to Konoha in the first place." The Hokage sighed, and Minori's heart plummeted. "It is your choice whether or not Naruto can stay, seeing as I plan to make you his guardian."

"I was hoping... it was obvious but... why him? Why did it have to be him?" He collapsed into the chair in front of the Hokage. "Naruto can stay for this. He should know."

"Deserve to know what? What are you talking about dattebayo?" Naruto glanced between the two men.

Hiruzen puffed out a ring of smoke and leaned forward to the boy.

"Naruto, there are great entities in this world called tailed beasts. They are massive manifests of chakra that most villages seek out as weapons. In Konoha our biju is usually sealed away seeing as we don't want it to get into the wrong hands.

Nine years ago that seal broke and our bijuu, the kyuubi, wreaked havoc. It was that night that you were born, and that night that your parents sealed the beast into you."
