the daily grind

I wiped sweat from off of my chin as I practiced drills under the rising sun. I had approximately ten more minutes of training before I had to get ready for school. It was getting dangerously close to the final exam, so I absolutely could not be late. After a few more throws of my kunai, I ran inside to get ready.

I took a cold shower because I had no time to wait for warm water. My reflection in the mirror was as disappointing as always; I had a small figure that paired with my shoulder length hair that my mom never let me grow.

It was the same milky lavender as my eyes, a stark contrast to the rest of my family. My mother always told me that having such a gaudy hair color was disgraceful to our family, so they never let me grow it our past my shoulders. I brushed out my bangs and threw on my clothes before dashing off to school.

Class was normal per usual, but a certain blonde was missing, making my day pretty bland. "Hey Sakura," I walked up to my pink-haired friend, lunch in hand. "Hey Y/n!" She waved as I sat down next to her.

"Have you seen Naruto?" I looked around the classroom to no avail. "No, but you should be glad. I don't know why you put up with that idiot anyways." She took a bite of her rice ball, her small nose wrinkled in disgust. "He's not that bad!" I pulled out my bento, pointing my chopsticks at her. "In fact, I really like him..."

"You'd be the first." Sakura stuck her tongue out a bit and I couldn't help but let out a dry giggle. "Ugh, you're so mean to him!" I took a bite of vegetable while she sighed. "Look, it's not that I have anything against him. It's just that he's super annoying, you know? If he wants to be better liked he should stop pulling stupid pranks and act more like Sasuke!" She finished her sentence on a dreamy up-note, turning to face the ever-brooding teen.

"I don't understand what's so great about Sasuke... He's always so upset looking."

"At least he isn't being dragged into the classroom like that." Sakura pointed at the door and we watched Master Iruka pull Naruto in, tied up with ropes. I groaned, my head falling to meet the desk. "See what I mean?" Sakura quirked a brow when she said this, sassily taking another bite of her lunch.

After we ate, Master Iruka began scolding Naruto for his actions and announced that we would be reviewing the art of transformation. Most everyone groaned angrily, grumbling that this was all his fault, but I didn't mind. I was quite good at this jutsu.

We all lined up, getting ready to transform into Master Iruka. I caught sight of Naruto, sending him a little smile and wave. He smiled back, scratching the back of his head while mouthing "sorry". Soon it was my turn; I quietly stepped up and performed the ninjutsu perfectly. "Good job Y/n. You may take a seat." I bowed before my teacher and left to sit next to Sakura, who gave me a quick thumbs-up.

"Okay Uzumaki, you're turn." Master Iruka, gestured for him to come up. "Bet he'll mess this up." Sakura whispered to me.

"We'll see." I mumbled back, holding my own hand. "CHANGE!" Naruto brought his hands together, smoke enveloping him. I was about to prove Sakura wrong, truly believing that he had completed the challenge. That was, until the smoke settled a bit.

"Chu~" Naruto was replaced with a beautiful girl that was completely naked. "Eh?!" I felt my face heat up and I covered my eyes in confusion. Master Iruka was already on the ground with a major nosebleed and Sakura was screaming in mortification. "Oh Naruto..."
