Chapter 32- Twelve

MINA'S POINT OF VIEW

"Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear Naruto...Happy birthday to you!" Everyone sang as the twelve year old blew out his candles. The crowd clapped as the whiskered boy grinned, happy to be the center of attention. I say crowd with a grain of salt. It was Shinasui, Sasuke, Kiba, Tsume, Team Gai and I sitting around the table. I had Naruto hand out invitations at school for any of his classmates and friends to come over but all had rejected except for Sasuke and Kiba. I have received rejection notices from several parents including the Haruno's and the Yamanaka's...people Kushina and Minato had worked with in the past. I didn't understand why so many people had denied coming to something as simple as Naruto's twelfth birthday until I received an angry letter from someone's parent. They were insulted that I would 'dare invite them to an event for the class nobody. They would never put their child in danger to be around the child nine-tailed fox.' I was livid when I read it...to the point that I wanted to march down to their home and strangle them for having the tenacity for saying something so cruel about my child. Kurama was all for it. He felt insulted for being used as a derogatory term. If it wasn't for Itachi being with me when I read it...I probably would have hurt someone. I didn't want my son feeling low about himself so I made sure the responses were a secret.

I pulled out the candles and cut the chocolate cake that had his name on it. I passed it around to the children first, making sure Shinasui had a very tiny slice considering she is a she-devil on sugar. Naruto was giggling and chatting with Kiba and Sasuke...something I was happy about. It was clear that those two boys were his best friends. Shina was sitting in Uncle Gai's lap since her daddy and her "husband" Itachi were on missions. Ugh my daughter is going to be such a headache in her teens. She has been eyeing up Neji all night, wanting to play with him. I was about to sit down to eat my own piece of cake when I heard a timid knock on the door.

"Who could that be?" I mumbled out loud. I walked towards the door and opened it to see Iruka and a little girl standing at his feet while holding a small gift. She was blushing heavily, her eyes were a pupiless lavender, much like Neji's.

"Hi there sweetheart! Are you here for the party?" I smiled sweetly at her, attempting to ease her social discomfort. Iruka smiled at me after she shyly nodded.

"I was on my way over here to give Naruto my gift when I saw my student Hinata also heading over. Hope you have room for two more?" He asked. Hinata blushed, her dark navy hair was cut short. She was so cute!

"Of course! I just cut the cake, feel free to dig in!" The little girl bowed and gave me a soft thank you while I greeted Iruka with a friendly hug. The two came into the house, Hinata slowly making her way over to the crowd.

"I'm happy you could come Iruka. I'm even happier a classmate of Naruto's came to celebrate too. I was getting really worried." Iruka gave me a sorry expression before sighing.

"Mind if we talk later?" I nodded, getting an idea already of what he was about to say. The kids welcomed Hinata with open arms except for Neji who gave her an unmistakable death glare. I wonder what that's all about. It then dawned on me that Neji was a Hyuga and the princess of the clan was named Hinata. Ahh...a clash between main branch and side branch I see.

"Hi Hinata! I didn't know you were coming ya know!" Naruto smiled at her. Her face turned fully red and she shook slightly as she held out her gift for him.

"N-naruto...I-I brought y-you s-something..." She whispered. I was grinning from ear to ear. This sweet little girl must have a crush on Naruto. Naruto smiled as he took her perfectly wrapped gift and opened it. He pulled out a little green frog coin pouch, something that looked absolutely adorable. Naruto was surprised and had a little streak of red on his cheeks seeing something thoughtful from Hinata.

"I-I t-thought s-since your m-mother w-was a famous t-toad s-sage th-that y-you would li-like that..." She stuttered as she tapped her two fingers together. Before she could react, Naruto gave her a quick hug and a grin.

"It's super cool Hinata! I'm gonna use it forever! Thanks ya know!" The poor girl looked like she was going to faint so I gave her a glass of ice water. Naruto received other gifts and such that were fitting of an academy graduate, considering he was going to finish school this week. Kakashi and I saved up money to buy him a full kunai set with sharpening tools and a "How-To" book on standard meditation. He seemed to like that. I was so happy Naruto was having a fun time with his friends. I was terrified that no one but my friends would come. I really appreciate Sasuke in particular considering it was from his own will and not Itachi telling him to come that he made his way over here. Sasuke put on this fake shell like his father but it's obvious he and Naruto were friends forever.

I poured some sake for Gai, Tsume, Iruka, and I so we could relax in the living room and have 'adult time'. The kids were all out back and Shina attached herself to Hinata today, the two giving each other makeovers in my bathroom.

"Ughh so glad I can rest my feet! Hana just made chunin the other day and Kiba makes we wanna run my head in a wall sometimes." Tsume groaned. My best friend made me chuckle, my stressed out joints popping slightly as I stretched.

"Oh I feel that. Naruto seems to love getting in trouble and Shina seems to have a new ability every week. I'm really worried for her ya know." Gai raised a thick eyebrow and Iruka also looked concerned, the young man not really drinking his sake.

"What do you mean? Is she just a fast developer like how you and Kakashi were?" Gai asked. I shook my head no.

"No this is different. Kakashi and I talked about it but I want to know what you guys think ya know. She...doesn't seem to show any of the same abilities that Kakashi and I had growing up. I mean hell I was a year older than her when I joined the academy but it seems like her chakra is growing faster than her." Tsume and Gai looked wide eyed. Iruka didn't know me as a child so he wouldn't understand.

"What abilities does she show?" I took a deep breath before drinking my entire cup of sake.

"She can...see visions in her dreams sometimes. Apparently...a few years ago when I was on a mission for two months, she saw that I was in trouble in her dreams and told Kakashi about it. He told me the details she gave and it was completely correct...down to the specifics of my opponent and everything. There was no way that she or Kakashi would have known. She is also completely immune to genjutsu. Itachi tried to watch her dreams before with his sharingan so we could test our theory and she immediately rejected him. We've tested her with little things like picking out fruits in a jutsu and she completely dismissed it. I'm concerned too and Gai you know this from experience but she also has some of the nine-tails chakra in her from being in my womb. She has yet to control it...meaning she is dangerous until she can. Kakashi and I have been trying desperately to get her to learn chakra control so she won't accidently hurt herself but it seems she's still too young to understand ya know." Iruka looked concerned before leaning forward, interested in hearing more about his future student.

"That's incredible...I haven't seen a child like that yet in the academy and they are three times her age!" I shook my head. Iruka was missing the point. He was a little young so I'm not surprised.

"Iruka...yes my daughter has talent...but the part that has me worried that unlike Naruto and I...her chakra is unstable. She doesn't have a seal and the nine-tails isn't actually inside her. It's just his chakra ya know. She may have abilities but she can endanger herself and others if she doesn't mature quickly. Just this week we had an incident with chakra. She nearly broke her door in a tamper tantrum." I poured myself another glass before looking at the setting sun through a window. It was getting late...

~~

The sky was getting darker and I wanted to make sure young Hinata was home in time for her folks to be satisfied. I was incredibly surprised the Hyuga allowed the princess to travel here so I wanted to remain on good terms with one of the few clans that supported Naruto. The kids came inside and Shinasui had fallen asleep on my chest, her waist length white locks were a little tangled from play time. I stood to say goodnight to Tsume and Tenten who headed home. Gai and the other boys I let sleep over so Naruto had something to do. They were all heading to the basement to play games I suppose but before Naruto could head down too, I called him over.

"Hey Naruto." He looked over at me before walking over.

"What's up Mama?" I rolled my eyes. That's a new name.

"I want you to walk Hinata home. In case it get's dark there's a flashlight in the cabinet under the sink." He groaned.

"But Moooomm-" I gave him the Mom look that made children freeze in their steps.

"Fine." He said. I smiled at my son as he took the flashlight and like a perfect little gentleman, took Hinata's hand. She was crimson in the face so I made sure she had a water bottle before she left.

"Goodnight Hinata! Stop by anytime ya know!" I grinned at her.

"T-thank y-you Mrs. Hatake!" I really liked her. After Naruto and Hinata left and the rowdy boys (including Gai) went into the basement, it gave me an opportunity to speak to Iruka privately.

"So you wanted to talk Iruka?" He nodded, taking out a file that he had brought earlier.

"Yes. As you are aware of, Naruto is graduating this week...although...I am quite concerned about his ability to pass." I cocked an eyebrow.

"What do you mean?" He pulled out papers that showed all of the total punishments, detentions, and failing test grades Naruto had...my worst nightmare right now.

"...Oh god...Excuse me for a moment." I flickered upstairs and placed Shinasui in her bed for the night, immediately flickering back downstairs. Iruka was stunned and looked at me confused. I forgot he wasn't aware that I had learned the Second/Fourth Hokage's jutsu.

"I have marked kunai stationed in every room of the house so I can travel quicker. I use the body flicker technique." Iruka shook his head in awe.

"I-...How-...I'll just let it go...You amaze me, my god." I chuckled before turning to look back at the horrid papers.

"Now right now, he is barely passing the class. He did well on his last exam when I explained to him the situation he was in but I feel as if it is better to talk to you. He constantly seems distracted and prefers to be the class clown over anything. I am really concerned that he won't pass the final exam." I was thinking about when I was in school and how Obito did. After all, he and Naruto acted the same. The only reason Obito acted as a class clown was because people picked on him. After reading the responses from the rejection letters, I knew that it was definitely the same problem.

"That's because the children in your class are picking on him." Iruka looked at me oddly as if he didn't know what I was talking about.

"What?"

"That's right." I picked up the letters I had hidden among the mail and gave them to Iruka to read. I could tell his heart broke a bit seeing the reaction letters to my little boy...

"I'm so sorry...I never thought...I never knew that they saw Naruto this way...I had a feeling things were tense but I didn't know the parent's were pushing it too..."

"It's only natural for Naruto wanting to make them laugh as a gateway to try and get them to like him. I mean he has been treated like some fucking demon since he was a baby!! Can you imagine? People not even wanting to acknowledge your existence because of who you are? I was lucky. I was old enough to prove my strength and I also had Kakashi by my side. With Naruto...he doesn't have that. Naruto has a supportive family but he doesn't have someone out there to prove to the world that he is just a child. Naruto is hated for no reason other than something that was out of his control...something I should have bared the full impact of. My sister and the Fourth Hokage wanted my son to reign as a hero of this village and he is treated like a disease. Can you imagine trying to work everyday in that poisoned environment of hatred?" Iruka sat and thought about it for a moment, putting his head in his hands.

"I'm...so sorry. I have failed Naruto by not noticing this before. Look...I'll offer a proposal." I looked at him before raising an eyebrow.

"If you come to speak to the class about comradeship on Monday, I'll allow Naruto to retake any exams he has failed. That way you can express your feelings and Naruto can revive his grade." I quickly agreed and read through his transcript...

Naruto you can be such a headache.

~~

I walked Naruto to the academy the day I was supposed to along with Shinasui. Naruto gave his baby sister a piggy back ride, excited to show her the school he goes to. I smiled at my babies, still miffed that Naruto has been doing poorly in school. Hopefully today, I can make the kids rethink what their lousy parents had taught them. Hatred is a learned trait and I want to break that before it becomes them and hurts my son's future. I walked towards the door to see Iruka greeting the kids entering the academy, giving me a bright smile when he saw my family and I.

"Ah! You came! I have everything prepared for your lecture." Naruto looked up at me oddly, so did Shina.

"Huh?" Naruto cocked his head, his sister copying him. I gave him an Uzumaki grin, one Kushina would have given me.

"That's right. Mommy's teaching today!" Naruto's blue eyes went wide before he started to look nervous.

"Mommy...really it's okay...you don't have to do that ya know..." He looked worried before I leaned down to his level and kissed his forehead.

"No one and I mean no one will mess with you today. Got it? Don't tell anyone I am your mother. Keeo it a secret." Naruto looked surprised and nodded.

~~

Shinasui and I walked around the hallways a bit as Naruto got settled into class. Iruka had to take attendance and do basic things before I took over so I thought I would give my daughter a tour of her future school.

"This was the room Mommy and Daddy learned in." She gasped and looked at me excited.

"And that's where Tobi learned too right?" I raised an eyebrow. Tobi? Her imaginary friend? Although I'm glad that the lisp she had with her t's has disappeared.

"What gives you that idea?" She smiled at me before rolling her violet eyes as if it was obvious.

"Well that's when he fell in love with Mommy he said!" I froze...could she mean...

"And today class we have a very special sensei who will discuss teamwork and comradeship today. She is one of the two living toad sages in the world. She also was a student of the Fourth Hokage and a legendary Sannin. Give the utmost respect to Minako Hatake." I smiled Shina.

"It's our cue." I walked in to see the class give me an applause. I smiled at the children, recognizing Naruto sitting next to a pink haired girl and Sasuke. I put Shina down to sit in the little chair next to Iruka's desk that he had set up for her.

"Good morning guys!" I spoke aloud. They replied with a unanimous good morning, Naruto sweating bullets in the corner.

"I'm here today because of a reason very close to my heart. That reason is teamwork and sharing bonds with comrades." I heard a few groans before I raised an eyebrow.

"Let me guess. 'You've heard it all before...you know you have to work together...you know this already.' Am I wrong?" Some random obnoxious boy in the class started talking.

"Come on lady get on with it! Start telling us something new!" I recognized this boy as someone who was mean to Naruto years ago...perfect. I threw a kunai on the boy's desk, inches from his hand before flickering to him with another kunai to his throat. He froze in fear, the entire class staring at me with wide eyes.

"Would anyone mind if I killed him?" The room was completely silent. Iruka stood up, fear in his voice.

"N-now Mi-" I had a clone hold a kunai to Iruka's neck. He panicked, noticing how under powered he was compared to me.

"Sit down Iruka and observe. You might learn something too." My clone spoke. I took the boy by the collar and lifted him up, a kunai still at his neck. I slowly began walking down to the front of the class while holding him.

"Will anyone mind if I slit his throat right now? Hmm?" My steps echoed in the classroom as if it was empty, the air was heavy, I had everyone's attention. I finally was at the front of the class where I looked around again.

"No? No one is going to stop me? No one hmm? I guess it's time for you to die-"

"STOP!" I heard a yell. Internally I grinned. My little boy...Momma's so proud of you.

"Stop it!" Naruto growled as he stood up.

"Don't you dare hurt him!" Naruto spoke up. The boy gasped and so did most of the class. I turned to the class and looked around.

"See? You all thought you knew comradeship now didn't you? Hm? And yet the class clown...the kid you all laugh at and look down on was the only one out of all of you to step up against me. He is the only one who understands so far. You all thought you were so smart. You thought you knew everything since you guys are graduating this week but let me tell you...without the bravery and ability to forgive like he just showed all of you...you will die." I dropped the boy and turned towards Naruto.

"You are the only one that has so far proven that you are capable of being a ninja. Now class, who's ready to learn how to survive?"

~~

It was the end of a stressful week. I had to give a lecture that turned out amazingly well for Naruto's benefit but I also had to help Naruto with tons of assignments that he couldn't understand. This was my job as his mother however and I helped him to the best of my abilities. Naruto was taking his test today to become a genin and I was eagerly awaiting him at home. Kakashi came home the other night and he and I have been having Mommy-Daddy time with our daughter while Naruto was out at school. We took her to the local gardens and through parks. We took her to the KIA stone as Kakashi and I said some prayers...we also took her out for some ramen. It was odd to think that if Kushina and Minato were still alive, this is what Kakashi and I's life would be like normally...

"I missed you Mina." Kakashi smiled at me. He's been more affectionate as of late, not that I mind. He bought me flowers and chocolates. He wrote me love letters and what-not... I didn't know why but I kinda felt suspicious about it. I sat on the couch in between Kakashi's legs, cuddling him with his arms around me. Shina was playing with dolls and action figures on the floor in her room.

"I've missed you too Kakashi. Tell me though...what's up? What's with all the gifts and stuff?" Kakashi tightened his hold on me.

"I'm worried Mina. I'm really worried." I turned to look at him before peeling off his mask and giving him kisses, cradling his jaw in my hands. My violet eyes looked into his obsidian.

"What's troubling you my love?" He moved strands of ruby hair behind my ear.

"I'm so in love with you Mina...I have been since we were kids...you're my angel and you gave me a perfect daughter and a wonderful life...it kills me thinking I will lose you. I will make sure that never happens. You're my beautiful amazing wife and I can't live without you." I raised an eyebrow.

"You're not going to lose me Kakashi. I said forever and always at the altar for a reason...you're my other half." Kakashi shook his head before he leaned his forehead against mine.

"Mina...Shinasui had a dream that you...that you died...protecting this village." I froze. Fear crippled me. Her dreams were always spot on.

I will die and it's only a matter of time.

A frantic knock at the front door caused Kakashi to stand as I sat paralyzed on the couch.

"What is it." He growled.

"It's Naruto! He stole the Sacred Scroll of Sealing!!"
