The Corner

Corners keep you rooted
They keep you sane
- Well for me at least.

They ask why I like being by
Myself.
Here's why.

He shouts too much
And curses me off about things
That are true for him also.
He calls me things like pig -
Though I'm nowhere near fat,
He calls me a Devil child -
though he doesn't realize he's calling himself a Devil.

She tries being my age too much
Though she's too far from my age.
She cusses about almost every little thing,
Calls me grandma though not recognising that
Traits like those are inherited.
She acts like she's better than everyone.

If I ever try to correct her
I'm told by he to shut up
Because chat too much.
When I interact with her
Problems always arise.

When I discuss things with him
It turns out I'm either
stupid, can't accept things or I'm difficult -
I'll take that as a compliment.

So to avoid all these noises and squabbles
I created a corner for me only.

There no negative words don't seep
And I don't say things in my head I'll regret later.
I created it so problems don't arise
As I realise that I'm the problem
Since they blame everything on me.

They always said - 'Let the problem solve itself'
So that's I the problem did; solve their problem
they don't even realise I'm gone.

But the funny thing is they still upset
When they don't see me for hours on end -
though I could care less.
That's where I learnt a new lesson -
Don't live your life trying to please others,
Just find your own corner,
It'll keep you sane and true to yourself.
