Prologue: The Classical Musician

It was the first day of school for Mafumafu. He finally managed to get into the famous Academy of Entertainment.

It was always his dream of getting in there but because you could only get into the Academy by getting scouted by the principal himself Mafumafu gave up but still decided to make music after he would have finished school.

His parents were famous in the entertainment business, his father being a film producer while his mother being an actress, so he grew up with them being busy all the time.

But don't think sadly because his parents loved him after all. He was just lonely sometimes because they were busy with work. Mafumafu would usually spend his time in his room watching all the movies his parents ever made.

He was amazed by their work of course but they never moved him much to the point that he would cry over it. He grew up watching all the movies and reading scripts of famous writers.

One day, Mafumafu was in the office of his father looking through the DVDs he had. None of them never really stood out to him as he just looked at everything bored.

He looked at the shelves but didn't find anything as he sighed and decided to give up walking out of the room. When he did though he tripped over nothing as he threw a box down and the contents scattered all over the floor.

He winced as he rubbed his hair and sat up to look at the CDs scattered on the floor. This confused the small child as he picked one up and searched for a CD-Player and put it in.

His parents only owned movies so he was surprised to find something else besides that in the house. Mafumafu sat down waiting for the music to play. Instead of that a voice starting talking.

"Is this working? Ahem... So... I don't really understand why I have to do this... But you two just insisted on me singing... I don't even want to sing that much but I guess I can do it for you as a wedding present.

So here it is.", the person said and Mafumafu tilted his head confused. "Who is that person talking to?", Mafumafu asked himself but of course no one would answer him that.

Everything was silent for a while. You could only hear some shuffling, the person probably sitting down. And after a few seconds of complete silence a piano melody started to play.

The piano was soft and it felt light as Mafumafu suddenly felt a strong wind blowing towards him making him close his eyes.

The next moment he was surrounded by the wide open blue sky as a voice started singing. Mafumafu was feeling emotions he never felt before as he could only sit there quietly listening to the song. It was as if he couldn't escape something holding him there. And when the song ended Mafumafu realized he was in his room and not outside and he felt tears slipping down his cheeks.

"So this is my present from me to you guys. Congratulations on your wedding. I wrote this song thinking about your marriage and it sounds cheesy coming from me but... I just want to thank you for everything you two did for me. So... thank you.", the person thanked softly and shortly after, it stopped playing.

This was the first time he cried for something, the first time he was moved in a way like this. The song was happy but for some reason, Mafumafu didn't believe that "Thank you" was the only message the person wanted to convey.

More like that person wanted to say—

"Mafu-kun, you're spacing out again!", a brown-haired brunette shouted as Mafumafu snapped out of his thoughts.

"Eh? Ah, Ama-chan! What is it?", Mafumafu asked as Amatsuki frowned at Mafumafu. "You were thinking about that singer again, right?", Amatsuki asked as Mafumafu laughed awkwardly. "Maybe? Where were we again?", Mafumafu asked as he put his attention on his childhood friend.

"We were waiting for Sakata... if he is not arriving in the next minute I am going to leave without him.", Amatsuki said as he looked at his watch sighing. Just as he said that a red-haired boy ran towards them in a hurry.

"Ah, sorry... I was sleeping when I woke up I noticed that I overslept.", Sakata apologized and scratched his cheek as Amatsuki sighed again. "Whatever! Let's just get into the academy before we're late!", Amatsuki said as he took his suitcase and started running.

"Hey, wait for us!", Mafumafu said as he ran after Sakata following close after. That's right. Not only did Mafumafu get scouted as a singer but Amatsuki and Sakata got scouted as well.

Someone close to the principal noticed Amatsuki's talent when he performed on the street and then filmed the performance and showed it to the principal who approved and thus Amatsuki was scouted as a dancer.

As for Sakata, he was famous in the city for being the comedian and soon people started suggesting him to the principal all the time which is how he got scouted. And finally Mafumafu.

Mafumafu wasn't known at all in the city. At least not for singing because he preferred singing in private and he made sure to only sing in front of  close people.

He was very insecure when it came to singing in front of people even if his friends told him he was good. So he was surprised when he received a letter of him being scouted as a singer.

He didn't know why he deserved to be in such a prestigious school. He wasn't as talented as Amatsuki or Sakata. He wasn't known so he couldn't understand why he deserved to be here with all the other talented students.

Yes, he wanted to study music and become a singer and yes he wanted to find the person who made that song he listened to in the past.

After he found out that that person knew his parents who attended this academy as well. He knew that he could find out their identity if he searched for clues in this academy.

But did he really deserve to be here? "Mafu-kun, stop with your negative thoughts.", Amatsuki said as he lightly flicked Mafumafu's forehead.

Mafumafu held his forehead as he slightly pouted at Amatsuki. "Owie... that was mean Ama-chan!", Mafumafu puffed his cheeks out as Sakata linked his arm with Mafumafu.

"What are you talking about? Anything that can distract me from this boring entrance ceremony is fine to me.", Sakata whispered as Amatsuki leaned in closer as well.

"Mafu-kun is being all negative again.", Amatsuki explained as Sakata nodded.

"You know what you should be worried about? I heard there was a rumor about vampires lurking around and drinking the blood of innocent humans?", Sakata said shivering as his voice slightly raised.

"A vampire? Sakata, you're being stupid again believing those rumors. There aren't any vampires in this world. This is why you're the idiot of the group...", Amatsuki sighed as the other male gasped when he heard that.

"How dare you say that? But seriously, there have been witnesses seeing the victims having bite marks on their necks! What else could it be other than vampires?", Sakata asked.

Before any of them could answer some of the teachers shushed them as they apologized and turned their attention back to the principal.

He just finished his speech and they thought they were finally dismissed before the principal talked again making Sakata sigh as Amatsuki shushed him. "And now before you go we want to show you one of our talented students.

We want to show you that, even if it might look unrealistic to you right now, you can have a bright future like this individual if you do your best and never lose sight of your goal.

Please give an applause to our instrumental musican, Soraru.", the principal said as he started clapping the crowd following along.

A ravenette male walked up to the stage as he stood in front of a crowd standing there as if he didn't want to be here. He looked at the microphone the principal held towards him and looked at the principal for a while before sighing again and taking the microphone.

"So... you're probably expecting something so great and modern right now but sucks to be you, I am going to play you a classical piece wether you want it or not.", the senior said as many people either groaned because he was going to play classical music or squeal because he was handsome.

He threw the microphone back to the principal who caught it and just sighed when he saw how his student didn't have any motivation at all.

"Soraru, please show some effort. I don't want my new students to go away after this.", the principal joked as everyone laughed.

Soraru ignored him as he closed his eyes putting his hands over the piano.

"Well, because Soraru is not going to tell you anything about himself and about the piece I will do it for him. You see, Soraru is one of our talented students here. He plays a variety of instruments and he prefers classical music the most.

And now he will play you a piece of Chopin on the piano. Étude Op. 25 No.11, also known as Winter Wind.", the principal said before staying quiet and walking off the stage.

Mafumafu heard everyone whispering among themselves as the raven-haired just sat still not playing anything. "Do you think he can even play? He sat there for a minute not doing anything now.", one of the students said.

"He probably got scared of screwing up.", his friend said snickering.

"A classical piece... I didn't know there would be people here who would be entertained by such music.", one of the people said. "Aw, I thought it would be so cool if he could play. Was this all just a facade?", one of the girls complained.

"How long do you think is he going to sit there?", Sakata asked as Amatsuki shrugged.

"I don't know. But I really want to go explore the school soon so I'd appreciate it if he would start soon. Right, Mafu-kun? Mafu-kun?", Amatsuki repeated when he saw that Mafumafu wasn't listening to either of them but instead just looked at the performer on the stage intently.

For some reason, Mafumafu thought that his senior was someone he had met before even if he couldn't make out why that was.

He sat there for a few more seconds before finally starting to play. At first it sounded so simple though that everyone but Mafumafu started to ask themselves if he could actually play though.

(Please listen to Chopin's Étude for this. It's a great piece and that's what I'm going to try to describe in this story now. If it motivates you to listen to it more, this piece was used in Your lie in April as well www Also yes, I like to listen to classical music sometimes. If anyone else likes classical music, please let me know in the comments so I won't feel alone (*;ω;*)

"That's all he can do? Why is he even here—", and that's when Soraru suddenly played a row of flowing tones in a high speed as everyone quickly shut up surprised you hear him playing such a difficult piece.

Mafumafu didn't care about the difficulty of the piece though but about the way he was enchanted again. Just like last time but the only difference was the scenery.

It suddenly felt cold as he could even see Amatsuki and Sakata shiver beside him. It was like he could hear a message from the performer himself. As if he was the only one the message was conveyed to as everyone else could only feel the cold, he could feel the warmth in it.

He felt many things and emotions coming up when he listened to his senior. Anger. Coldness. Warmth.... and Loneliness.

Soraru soon came to his end playing his last notes with each note the room getting even colder if possible and when he reached his final note there was a long silence.

No one said anything before they snapped out of their thoughts and everyone applauded loudly. Soraru simply ignored them as he walked off stage not looking at any of them which didn't stop anyone from clapping though.

Just as he disappeared from the stage he glanced on time into the crowd and his eyes met with the albino. His eyes widened slightly with surprise before going back to its usual emotionless expression as he walked off stage.

"Wow, I never thought classical music could be this good! I wouldn't mind listening to more if Soraru-senpai would perform.", Sakata said as Amatsuki nodded in agreement.

"Right? And I thought it would be boring. What did you think of it, Mafu-kun?", Amatsuki asked as Mafumafu snapped out of his thoughts. "E-eh? Me? I thought it was good too.", Mafumafu said which was an understatement.

"Well, I have to find my dorm now and maybe I can quickly become friends with them.", Mafumafu said as he took his suitcase and walked away leaving Amatsuki and Sakata behind.

They shrugged it off though as they continued to talk with each other. They were so focused on their conversation so Sakata didn't notice as he bumped into someone. He looked down to see a short brunette looking extremely annoyed.

"Oi, can't you see where you're walking?", he asked accusingly as he waved a small book around.

"Oh, I'm sorry! Are you new here too? We can go find our dorm together!", Sakata said as the brunette grew even more annoyed at him and threw the thin book at his face in annoyance.

"I'm a senior here you freaking idiot!", he exclaimed as he stomped away. "Rude. Are you alright, Sakata?", Amatsuki asked as Sakata just nodded and looked at the object thrown at him.

It was a small script with the imprint Romeo and Juliet the Animation (Modern Arrangement) on it. In it there was the name Urata written in it. "I'm going to search for him to give it back to him!", Sakata said as he ran away leaving Amatsuki back dumbfounded.

"God, now I'm all alone! I hate you guys!", Amatsuki exclaimed but he stopped when he felt someone tapping his shoulder.

It was a tall man with brown hair who had a guitar case on his back. "Um, excuse me... I'm lost here and I wanted to ask if you could help me find my way to this dorm.", the man asked as he showed Amatsuki his number.

"Let's see... 3127 that is my dorm as well! So I guess you are my roommate?", Amatsuki asked as the male in front of him smiled making him blush slightly. "How lucky I am to run into my new roommate while getting lost.

My name is Kashitaro Ito and I am an acoustic musician here. I also sing a bit I guess.", he introduced himself as Amatsuki smiled back and shook the hand held towards him.

"Nice to meet you, Kashitaro-san. I'm Amatsuki, a dancer, and I look forward to being your roommate."

*****

Mafumafu sighed when he couldn't find his dorm and he was about to give up when he suddenly bumped into someone to see it was a girl with pink hair. "Oh, I'm so sorry! Are you alright?", Mafumafu asked as he held a hand towards the person who just smiled and nodded.

"I am fine. Thank you for your concern.", the male said surprising Mafumafu a bit before he stood up and walked away without saying another word. "...Ah, there's my dorm!

Finally!", Mafumafu exclaimed when he saw that he was in front of his dorm.

3028 was it and he took his key to open the door to find his roommate already sitting on the bed with headphones on.

He noticed Mafumafu's presence as he put the headphones down and looked at Mafumafu slightly surprised before going back to his calm manner while Mafumafu could only stare at him.

"A-ah, nice to meet you! I am Mafumafu and I strive to become a singer!", Mafumafu introduced himself as he bowed.

"Huh... not an actor or film producer?", Soraru asked which confused Mafumafu but the older male quickly continued talking.

"So you're going to be my roommate now. I am not one for formalities and all that so you can call me whatever. Nice to meet you I guess.", he said as he put his headphones back on and even though it just couldn't be possible, Mafumafu thought that the senior in front of him sounded exactly like the one person in the recording he listened to.

"U-um, Soraru-san! Do you maybe know Akira and Sakiko, the film producer and the actress?", Mafumafu asked as he expected a no but instead the male just smiled slightly.

Even fondly as he nodded. "Yeah, yeah, I do.", and that's when Mafumafu was sure that he found the person he had been searching for.
