Middle School Band AU

I'M SO SORRY FOR NOT UPDATING IN LIKE THREE WEEKS I WON'T EVEN TRY EXCUSES I'M SO SORRRYYYYYYY

(everyone's in middle school and sorry its kinda crappy but you can expect a totally new story for just a band au coming your way but its not utapri)

Nagi walked into the entrance of his school's band room. This was the first time he's been in here, and he was amazed. First off, the room was grand. Like the size of 16 (slight exaggeration) basketball courts. Shelves meant for holding instruments and music lined the right wall and next to him was a grand piano. In front of him, there was a riser with chairs and stands. In front of that were two rows of more chairs and stands. And of course to the left of all that there were even more chairs and stands. The space in the middle and a bit to the front was the home of the conductor's stand. The rest of the space was occupied by just instruments. All sorts of drums, flute, saxophones, string instruments-you name it- they had it.

There even was an actual wooden recorder!

Like, Nagi hadn't even thought of a recorder since the tragedy that was third grade recorder class.

In his admiration, Nagi didn't realize that the band teacher was staring at him. Nagi took notice to him and bowed. The teacher was a kindly looking man, with a shock of white hair and smile lines around his eyes. Nagi took a deep breath and bowed again.

"I wish to join the band club!"

Two weeks later Nagi found himself seated in the saxophone section. It was a miracle how he got into the school band. Him, being a first year of middle school, had two years of experience and virtually nothing else. The school band was well known in the country, and tryouts had to be held to see who would stay and who would be banished from the music business come back next year for another shot. Nagi himself had no idea what made him so special, but he did enjoy everyone knowing him as the boy-in-first-year-who-can-actually-play-a- saxophone-somewhat-decently.

So anyways, Nagi was loving band. He played all sorts of tough music, with kids who could actually keep up with the scores, and a teacher who loved telling puns! There was something that put him off though. So every section had a person with the title of "Lead Chair". This person acted as a leader to a certain group of instruments. The other lead chairs were all very helpful to their kouhais and actually worked with them, but not Nagi's.

You know why?

His lead chair was the one and only Ren Jinguji.

Ah yes. Everyone had heard his name. He was good looking, a smooth talker, and his charm made all the girl's ovaries explode (if that was even possible in middle school). He wasn't just given the lead chair position for nothing though. Ren could play those sax solos that everyone hates so perfectly that people hated them even more.

So naturally, Nagi swore that he was enemies with Ren even though they've talked -2 times.
