Eleven

"Will you fucking uncuff me already? I feel like a goddamn suspect." Reed seemed to have run out of energy for the time being, glaring daggers since he was otherwise rendered useless.

"Tell me why I should release you," the RK800 replied immediately. "All possible outcomes to your freedom point to your avoidance of the inevitable. The damage done to myself is on a sliding scale, but less concerning."

"You should release me because I fucking ordered you to!!"

The smirk was wicked on the android's face. "I am deviant. And even if I were not, I would still ignore you." While the human grumbled under his breath, Connor's indicator flashed yellow briefly. "Ah. Right on time," he spoke loudly, going to open the interrogation room door.

As soon as Elijah walked in, Gavin groaned loudly, head falling back. "Are you shitting me right now?! Come on!!!"

The male was much taller than the restrained detective, and there was a vague knowing smile on Kamski's face as he strolled in. But he glanced towards Connor first, murmuring a thank-you before turning his attention back to Reed. "... why are you always like this?"

"Me? Why are YOU always such a goddamn prick?! Paying all that fucking money for some rusty blow-up doll and passing it off as an android?" Gavin seemed close to a full-blown freakout. "Take her back."

Arms crossed, Eli raised an eyebrow before looking towards the android again. "Where is she now, if I may ask?"

"There was an incident at the Eden Club," Connor replied instantly. "Detective Reed jumped at the chance to investigate with her, and subsequently left her there. Some sort of cruel joke about replacing the stolen android there, I expect."

Instead of being angry, or even irritated, the android creator himself sighed, sitting in the chair across from his brother. Hands folded, Elijah leaned a little bit against the metal table. "... you know why I did this, right?"

"I don't know, because you're rubbing it in my face? The fuck does it matter?" At least Reed had stopped his squirming, but now he just seemed uncomfortable. The door opened again, and Hank led you inside the interrogation room, as well. All the cuffed human could do was scoff. "Oh, great, a fucking audience."

Kamski got to his feet again, shaking hands with the lieutenant first. "Good to see you again, and... thank you for getting hold of me." A pause. "Sorry for his angry little fits."

"Nah, it's fine. We're used to 'em. Just not when others are involved," Hank added, jerking his head towards you. "She's okay, all things considered..." he trailed off, sending an awful glare in Reed's direction.

The tall human turned to you, and out of courtesy- and your programming- you held out your hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Kamski. I thank you for coming, as well."

Taking your hand into his own, Eli gently kissed the back of it as he cautiously got closer. "One never knows how the puzzle fits together until it is complete, do they?" His free hand rose and cupped your cheek. "Connor has done a lovely job of piecing this puzzle together. Tell me, then, how do you feel with the way things have gone so far? Do you feel... useful? Is it worth your time to work for this man? Or has he shown you nothing but venom?"

The way you were stared at was incredibly intense, but the resemblance between the two was remarkable either way. Your eyes closed for a moment, trying to clear your thoughts to give a solution to all of his queries. "I have been shown some signs of gratitude, but Detective Reed's true intentions are lost on me. I am made to counter his outbursts, but the opportunities to do so are few and far between." Eyes lowering, so did your voice. "I admit that being offered as a replacement for a sex android at the Eden Club was a situation I did not know how to counteract."

Eyes boring into Gavin's soul, Eli sighed and cupped your face with both hands. "Look at me, darling. Do you know why you are here? Why you were designed in the first place?" As expected you shook your head. "Very well. Surely you, as with everyone else present, know that I stepped down from CyberLife, yes?" When there were some general sounds of agreement, Elijah took a few steps away, hands behind his back. "It made national news, I remember. But what the media and general public did not know was why."

Both Hank and Connor seemed intrigued by this, but your reaction was nonexistent. Kamski gingerly guided you into the chair he'd been occupying moments earlier. Even as a stranger, his handling of you was far kinder than the one you were supposed to assist.

"It wasn't stress. It wasn't money." Eli paused, giving an expression of regret. "... I was being taken to rehab."

"No fuckin' way," the lieutenant muttered.

"Lieutenant, I had stepped down and seemingly vanished. For a year. A suspicious amount of time, isn't it?" Arms crossed, the creator went on. "I was spiraling down, and would probably have ended up dead by alcohol poisoning soon enough. Most everyone wouldn't touch me. I don't know if it was intimidation or fear, but I was mostly left alone." Pacing, Eli stared at the floor. "Lost most of my assets, lost the trust others had in me, lost contact with people I cared for... and instead of also losing what I'd built, someone finally stepped in."

"Gavin," the RK800 chimed in. "He stepped in, then?"

With his vague smile, Elijah nodded. "It was more like he kicked my door down and threw me into rehab after forcing me to publicly step down, but... yes." Turning to gaze at his brother, the male continued. "He could have been gentle about it, but he wasn't. I think it was more effective for him to assert himself, instead of waiting for me to admit my problem. I did admit it soon after, mind you."

"Cause if I waited around, you'd have been dead in a week, you moron," Reed spoke quietly. The edge in his voice from earlier was gone. "I wasn't gonna sit around and watch you drink yourself to death. You're a fuckin' raging bastard when you drink but someone had to care for your sorry ass."

Chuckling to himself, Kamski shook his head. "I won't deny that. After the worst of the withdrawal had passed, I realized what I'd been doing... and swore that I would repay him somehow." Laying a hand on your shoulder, he squeezed you carefully. "It's taken several years for things to be as advanced as I'd wanted them to be, but this is barely enough to pay him back."

Gavin sneered, looking away with a scowl on his face. "I didn't want you to pay me back then, and I'm demanding you not pay me back now. Who the fuck thinks an android is a legit gift idea?"

"I wasn't asking Connor to design an android. I asked him to design a companion. When I found out that you were also adamantly avoiding the law by not assisting androids, I just put them both together." Elijah's eyes narrowed. "If anyone would know to gather data on your preferences, it was the RK800 who was already around you. And he did a better job than I could have hoped. If we introduced you to someone human, you'd accept the situation without complaint."

"Yup. Probably."

For a long time, the creator gazed at you. A hand lifted to hold your cheek again before he seemed to make up his mind. "One week, then, Gav. Just one. Keep her around for a week and let her do what she must do. If by the end of Friday next week, you still do not find anything beneficial in her company... I will take her myself. Deal?"

Hazel eyes narrowed, staring first at his brother, then at you, seated across from him. "...... deal."
