Chapter 20
"What am I going to do?" Lorna asked Daryl, breaking the awful silence that lingered as they both sat side by side in the bedroom.
He shook his head. "It's what we are going to do." He stated.
"I don't expect you to be anymore apart of this mess Daryl." Lorna said honestly. She didn't want to drag him into it. He shouldn't be dealing with all this mess. He should be hanging out with friends or partying. Not trying to take care of some stupid pregnant teen.
"I'm going to help you. I promised I would take care of you and that's what I intend on doing. I knows it's going to be difficult for you, but whatever you decide I will support you completely." He said sincerely as he gripped her small, soft hand in his own, large hand.
"I don't know what to do." She whispered.
"That's understandable." He nodded. "You need to see a doctor either way though." He stated.
"I know...I will see if Maggie can lend me her phone to call for an appointment."
"I'll come with you. Whenever it is, I'll be there."
"I can't ask that of you."
"I'll be there." He said firmly.
She nodded and laid her head on his shoulder. "If I decide to keep the baby...it'll just be a constant reminder of him and what he did."
"I know..."
"I don't think I could kill it though." She stated as she laid her hand over her stomach.
"There's adoption, although I don't know how to go about that." Daryl said.
"Mrs Peletier told me a little about it. She said she would help me sort that out if it's what I decide."
He nodded again.
They sat in silence for a little longer.
Daryl wanted to support whatever her decision may be, but he was worried that if she decided to raise his fathers baby, that he wouldn't be able to help her. Just the thought made him angry. He knew he wouldn't be able to bond with a child that had been conceived through rape. A rape his own father had done.
"Can we just cuddle and go to sleep?" Lorna eventually asked.
He looked down at her and nodded. "Or course."
She took her head of his shoulder and pulled of the large plaid shirt she had been wearing leaving her in just a tank top.
She removed her leggings and replaced them with pyjama bottoms. She wasn't bothered about changing in front of him, after all he had seen her at her worse and had seen everything she had.
Daryl too had slipped out of his jeans but kept his shirt on.
Together they laid under the blankets wrapped up in each other's arms.
"We'll sort this...together." Daryl whispered as he stroked her hair.
"Together..."
"Dixon...Lorna." Shane said as he approached them both, the next day at school.
Lorna held her head down, avoiding his gaze as Daryl protectively pushed her behind him.
"What do you want?" Daryl hissed.
"Um...to see...I-I was wondering. How you were? Yeah, how you were. How are you?" He asked nervously.
Daryl and Lorna both looked at him confused.
"Shouldn't we be asking you that?" Lorna asked. "You look like shit and you're shaking."
Shane laughed nervously. "Big game tonight. Just a little nervous."
Lorna frowned. "Right." She mumbled, not believing him.
"Come on, let's go." Daryl mumbled, taking Lorna's hand.
"S-see you around then." Shane called.
"I'd rather you didn't." Daryl huffed.
As the pair entered the school, once again all eyes where on them. Well more Lorna, zoning in on her stomach before the other students turned and began to whisper to their friends.
"Looks like everyone knows." Lorna mumbled.
"Just ignore them. If anyone asks anything, tell them it's none of their damn business." Daryl said.
Lorna nodded nervously. "I'm going to look for Maggie."
"I'll come with you." He stated.
"No, it's fine. You should hang out with...friends or...Glenn!" She exclaimed. "Glenn!" She smiled, waving him over as she watched him walk down the corridor.
"Hey Lorna..." He smiled brightly as he approached.
"Hey Glenn, have you see Maggie?" Lorna asked.
"Yeah, she's outside with Beth."
Lorna nodded. "Great, I need to talk to her and you two can hang out and do..um guy things.." She suggested, frowning to herself at how stupid she sounded. "Bye." She suddenly said with a smile before walking away and towards Maggie who had just entered the school with a small blonde girl by her side.
"Um..that was weird." Glenn mumbled as he and Daryl watched Lorna and Maggie chat away.
"Yeah.." Daryl mumbled. "Come on chinaman, let the hens cluck.."
Glenn followed closely behind Daryl. "I'm Korean." He stated.
"Whatever." Daryl mumbled. "I wonder if Jenner bought any booze in today." He said, more to himself. "Maybe getting drunk will make me feel better."
"Thank you for letting me do that." Lorna smiled as she handed Maggie her phone back.
"You're welcome. I'm always here to help, you know that." She smiled.
"Thank you."
"So you and Daryl are having a baby?" Beth asked innocently, smiling sweetly.
"Um..its...um.."
"Beth don't ask questions like that." Maggie hissed before looking up at Lorna. "Although, if it's not his, who's is it?" Maggie asked.
Lorna shifted uncomfortably. "It's...I was.."
"Raped?" Beth gasped.
Lorna looked around to make sure no one had heard.
"I don't think I want to talk about this." She mumbled.
"By your father?" Maggie asked.
"Her father?" Beth gasped. "That's disgusting."
"It wasn't my father!" Lorna snapped. "He was just the fuck up that made it happen!" She said before storming away.
"I think we asked too much again." Beth mumbled.
"Really? I never would have guessed." Maggie mumbled sarcastically.
