She didn't want to cause an argument between them. Maybe she could just come clean when they arrived home, maybe it would be okay. Unfortunately for her Daryl had a different idea in mind.
"A-are you pregnant?" He asked.

She looked around the empty corridor nervously before focusing back on his face.
She didn't recognise the look his was giving her. It was a mix of many emotions. He looked scared, upset and maybe even a little disgusted. Was it towards her or his father? Maybe both.
"Lorna...are you pregnant?" He repeated when she didn't answer.
She didn't answer, she couldn't, she was rooted to the spot unable to run from her problems, her mouth glued shut, not allowing her to reveal the truth to him.
"Is that why you've been sick recently? Why you've been wearing my clothes?" He asked. "Tell me!" He shouted.
She jumped at him tone and nodded her head rapidly as the tears began to fall.
His hands went to his head, running his fingers through his hair, tugging at the ends. His eyes were wide and his mouth was agape.
"M-my dad?" He asked. "Or the other guy?"
"The other guy used protection. Your father didn't." She whispered in response.
"Fuck.." He gasped out. He stepped away from her, running his hands over his face. "You're...with him...that's my...that's...disgusting." He pulled a face as he looked over at her.
"Daryl.." She said as she reached out to him.
He backed away. "No!" He snapped. "The girl...I-I love is carrying my fathers baby, my brother or sister?" He said in disbelief. "I can't...I can't do this..." He said before looking back up at her.
"Please Daryl..." She cried. "Don't leave me."
He shook his head, walking backwards a few steps before turning on his heel and disappearing down the corridor.
Lorna let out a sob before sliding down the wall and onto the floor.
It had all gone so wrong.
Mrs Peletier eventually came out of the classroom to get the three teens back only to find just Lorna left, crying on the floor.
"Where are the boys Lorna?" She asked gently.
"Eugene took what you said seriously and is waiting outside the building and Daryl.." She let out another sob. "He hates me."
Mrs Peletier rubbed her arm soothingly. "I'm going to dismiss the class and then I think we should have a chat, okay?"
Lorna just nodded, she didn't have the energy to argue. She wanted desperately to find Daryl but she was scared of his reaction.
Students from her class past by her. Some glared, other sniggered and whispered to friends, others gave her a sympathetic smile.
"Is it true?" Maggie asked softly as she walked out of the classroom with Glenn by her side.
Lorna wiped her damp cheeks before nodding. "Yeah.."
"And Daryl's the father?" Glenn asked.
"It would all be so much easier if he was." Was all Lorna said before entering the classroom.
"Sit down Lorna." Mrs Peletier said softly.
Daryl wasn't sure where he was driving, he just drove, staring at the never ending road ahead. His mind was a jumbled mess.
He just couldn't get his head around the fact that Lorna his..his friend? Was pregnant with his fathers baby.
It was disgusting, she was just a teen! She shouldn't even be getting pregnant at all, at that age, yet she was and by a man who was many, many years older than her.
It made him feel physically sick knowing that she was carrying his brother or sister.
What if she keeps the baby?
He didn't want to leave her, he loved her for crying out loud, but he wasn't sure that he would be able to watch her raise a baby that wasn't his, a baby that was technically his sibling. It would break him.
Would she even be able to raise his fathers baby? It would be a constant reminder of what had happened that day. Why would she want to be reminded of what his father did to her?
He knew he would try and support her either way, whether she decided to keep the baby, give it up for adoption or even abort it, but sometimes trying just isn't enough.
What if he got it all wrong? What if he messed up? What if he became like his father?
What if she resented him for not taking his fathers place that night?
That thought was the one that really got to Daryl.
If he had taken his father place, would Lorna have been pregnant with his child rather than his fathers?
Then he began to wonder what Lorna was up to at that moment.
He had left her crying in the school corridor.
"Dammit!" He snapped, hitting his fists against the steering wheel as he turned the truck around and headed back towards the school.
"How could I just leave her like that? I promised to protect her, great job I'm doing!" He snapped to himself.
Lorna waited outside the school for what felt like hours. She had no way of returning back to the house. It was miles to walk and she was simply to exhausted.
She had no idea where Daryl was or if he even wanted to see her.
After her tedious chat with Mrs Peletier all Lorna wanted to do was go home, go to bed and cuddle with Daryl.
She buried her face in her hands, holding back her sobs. She didn't want to cry anymore but she couldn't stop.
"Lorna.." A voice called.
She looked up. One of the last people she wanted to see stood before her.
"What do you want Shane?" She asked exasperated.
"You've been sat here ages, do you need a ride or some thing?" He asked almost nervously.
"What do you care?" She snapped.
He scoffed. "Forget it. Sleep out here tonight then." He snapped.
"She's coming back with me, now back off Walsh!" Another voice snapped.
She looked behind Shane to see Daryl.
The look he gave her reminded her of the way he looked at her the first day back at school after his father had raped her.
He looked a mess, his eyes bloodshot and puffy, his cheeks stained with tears and his hair sticking up all over the place.
"Whatever man, shouldn't leave your pregnant girl hanging." Shane muttered before walking away.
Daryl shook his head and looked back at Lorna. "Let's get you home." He said as he took her hand and pulled her into a standing position from the bench.
She said nothing as she followed him to his truck.
She watched him from the corner of her eye as they drove back to the house.
It was only as they arrived that she finally spoke up.
"Did you mean it when you said you loved me?" She asked looking over at him.
He nodded. "Yeah, yeah I did." He answered honestly and confidently.
"Good because I love you too."
