Chapter 5: My mother
"Who are you, little girl?" My mother asked weakly.
"I am your daughter, mother."
"Rachel? Is that you? You are so grown up!" She smiled and hugged me through the bars of the cell. "But it is dangerous to be here. If the witch finds you here, my life will be at risk."
"It's okay mother. I am not scared. We must fight the witch together."
I clutched my mother's frail hand and tears rolled down my cheeks and dripped onto her palm. I wiped them away and kissed her hand.
I saw the invisible figure of Constance appear in front of me, only visible to me alone. She waved her hands over me just as a guard walked by. "Who are you talking to?" He smirked, kicking her hard till she backed away.
"To myself of course." She lied. Surprisingly, I was standing right in front of him but he didn't see me. Constance probably made me invisible! Cool!
I winked at Constance and mouthed a word of thanks and she disappeared in a cloud of dust. Wait a moment, how can I undo my invisibility? I simply waved my hands over myself and the security guard saw me. "Hey! What are you doing here?" In alarm, I waved my hands over myself just in time before he tried to grab me.
Instead, he was trying to grab air. "Where did she go?" My mother shrugged and giggled a little. "AHHHH! I SAW A GHOST HERE!" He screamed, running away. I chuckled as I reappeared again. Both of us laughed together for the first time as mother and daughter. We were reunited again.
But how could I get her out of this horrid place. I didn't have the keys. I thought of a way to get them and the only person I could get them from.
My witch mother herself.
I shuddered as I thought about her witchy figure I saw with my own eyes.
The beautiful lady I knew was no longer as nice as she seemed.
She was purely evil. Evil.
And I must stop her.
The good will triumph over the evil as sayings go.
Hopefully it will come true.
