Chapter Seven

The after-party was everything that I expected it to be. The smell of booze and cigarette smoke hit you as soon as you walked through the door, and everyone crowded around the band instantly. Led Zeppelin was blaring throughout the building which set the mood perfectly.

After being bombarded by people, we split off on our own as we mingled through the party.

“This is fucking unbelievable” I smiled.

Everything about the party was perfect. There wasn’t a lot of groupies, everyone was having the time of their lives, the music was amazing… the band deserved every bit of it.

“Trust me, it will get even more wild” he leaned in to kiss me as we waited for our drinks at the bar table.

And why not make it better? I slipped my fingers into my pocket and held onto the perfect cubes that I kept from the gig. I never would have expected a stranger to walk up to me and hand me acid, but I found out a lot of things in America that surprised me, didn’t I?

David handed me my drink before grabbing his and taking a big gulp out of it. I took short sips on the strong drink.

“Hey Gilmour!” we both turned our heads to see a guy walking up to him.

I didn’t know who he was, not that I really cared anyways. They were engaged in their conversation as I hesitantly pulled the drugs out of my pocket and dropped a single cube into my drink. I’ve never done this before; I’ve only heard stories about it.

What a perfect opportunity to experience it firsthand.

I walked around the club on my own before spotting out Roger who was downing shot after shot with Nick.

“Emma! Take a shot!” Nick handed me a small glass.

I put my drink down on the table and tossed the shot back, feeling the burning sensation of the alcohol as it set my throat on fire. I coughed and cringed at the bitter taste of it, and before I knew it, I had another one in my hand.

“Emma…” he started. Roger lit up a joint and took a hit.

“What?” I laughed.

“I hope you stay with Dave forever” he slurred.

“I don’t have any intentions of leaving him. I hope I stay with him, I really do” I smiled at the thought of it.

“Good. That’s good.”

I laughed and picked up my glass to start drinking it. I stared down at it for a second, and then brought it up to my lips. It didn’t taste any different, thankfully.

David crept up and put his arm around me, “There you are!”

I giggled and took another drink.

“You feelin’ okay, Rog?” he noticed Roger’s hilarious state.

Great” he emphasized.

No one knew where Rick was, but we weren’t about to go on a hunt for him. He was either looking for a girl or drinking away with the hundreds of other people who were there. And soon enough, David and I were split from the band too.

“You’re so beautiful” he complimented. I took another gulp and thanked him.

“I mean, you’re fucking gorgeous, babe. Why are you going out with a bum like me?” he laughed.

“Why wouldn’t I be going out with you?” I asked. I kissed him on his perfect soft lips.

That was the last clear moment of the night.

We continued to walk around as I stared at the colourful posters that hung on the walls. A lot of them were pictures and fliers of bands that have played there, and other posters that decorated the room.

I remember looking at this one poster; it was a brightly coloured girl that was surrounded by a million shapes and swirls. Suddenly, it looked as though it was popping out of the frame.

I blinked my eyes rapidly, trying to get rid of the weird image my mind was creating, but the effects of the drug were only getting worse.

Soon enough, everything around me looked like jelly. I reached my hands out at virtually anything in front of me, not caring what or who it really was.

I didn’t even know what was real or not anymore.

Suddenly, I felt a tug on my arm that sent waves of vibration all throughout my body. I turned my head and tried to distinguish reality from hallucination.

“What the hell has gotten into you?” David’s voice echoed in my ears.

“Do you find it hot in here?” I asked, waving my hand in front of my face trying to cool myself down. It felt like a fan was blowing in my face, and I opened my eyes and noticed that everyone around me was gone.

I looked up and saw a colourful sky, with each star looking like a whirlpool. It really was amazing; I couldn’t help but smile.

Just then, I felt my eyes get unbelievably heavy. Without hesitation, I closed my eyes and entered a world of darkness that my mind created for me. I felt myself fall, and then arms catch me around my waist.

--

“What’s wrong with her?” I faintly heard what sounded like Rick’s voice.

“She took acid, I think” David replied.

I tried to open my eyes that were still so heavy, and caught a blurry glimpse at the yellow street lights shining in through a window. It seemed like it was the only source of light around me.

“Acid? Where did she get that from?!” Rick questioned.

“I have no idea.”

The hallucinations were still very vivid. I heard music playing and it sounded like the same song that was on the radio earlier. I sang along to it.

“Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday, who could hang a name on you? When you change with every new day, still I’m going to miss you…”

I opened my eyes again and saw so many shapes hovering above me. I reached up my arms and tried to grab a hold of it but they vanished in the grasp of my hand.

I felt David’s hand stroke through my hair as I took one more deep breath before slipping into unconsciousness again.

Who knew that drugs could make you feel so damn good?

**David’s P.O.V **

Rick and I brought Emma out of the club once we realized that something was really wrong with her. There wasn’t a doubt in my mind that she took drugs, most likely acid. I didn’t want to leave the last party of the tour so early, but Emma needed me to be with her; even if she realized it or not.

We managed to get her in a taxi and we climbed in beside her. She instantly dropped down and rested her head on my lap.

“What’s wrong with her?” Rick looked at me worriedly.

“She took acid, I think” I replied.

I looked down at Emma and she was trying to open her eyes, but she was clearly still out of it.

“Acid? Where did she get that from?!” he sounded so surprised, and honestly, so was I.

“I have no idea.”

It was silent in the taxi, the only thing you could hear were the cars passing by us and Emma’s giggles. Then, she started randomly singing Ruby Tuesday.

Rick looked confusingly at her and I shrugged my shoulders, and then noticed how she was trying to grab something in the air.

I just wanted to get her back to the hotel so she could sleep it off.  I ran my fingers through her soft hair and she passed back out again

We made it to the hotel and I carried Emma in my arms through the door that Rick kindly held open for me. He was always such a caring person towards everyone. We took the elevator up to our floor and walked down the hallway to the room Emma and I were staying in.

“I’ll be fine, Rick, really” I told him after he offered to stay and help out.

He closed the door behind him and I gently let Emma down on the bed. I took her shoes and her dress off and pulled the sheets over her, but she kicked them off and the blankets fell to the floor. I dug through my suitcase and pulled out a t-shirt for her to throw on, and luckily she cooperated this time.

I grabbed the clothes I took off for her and went to put them in her suitcase, when suddenly I heard something light drop on the floor. I looked down and like I expected, it was acid. I picked the cube up off the floor and put it on the table before sitting down on the couch.

She wouldn’t stop giggling and saying random things. She would start singing that same Rolling Stones tune over and over before getting completely quiet, and then she would start laughing. I really didn’t know what to do.

Just when I thought that she was fast asleep, she jumped out of bed and stormed through the room, heading for the door. I quickly stood up and wrapped my arms around her.

“Where are you going?” I asked as she squirmed in my arms.

“Let me go!” she demanded.

“Why do you want to leave?” I tried to stay calm.

“I want to go back to the party! Call a cab, we’re going!” she laughed and let her body loosen.

“We’re not going back to the party, Emma.”

“Who the fuck said you were in control of me? Huh?” she snapped.

“Emma, let’s go to bed, c’mon” I tried to pull her back but she kept kicking.

“Fuck off, David!” she yelled.

I wrapped my arms around her tighter and she only kept kicking more violently. I wasn’t going to let her leave the hotel room in her panties and a t-shirt, high as fuck. Who knows what trouble she would get in to?

“Emma! Stop it!” I yelled back. I didn’t want it to turn into a screaming match, but she was really starting to piss me off.

“Go away!” she screamed.

She quickly got out of my arms and slapped me right across the face. It stung but I was more concerned about Emma’s state than my own. She was much more important.

She clawed at my bare chest, leaving red lines all over. But finally, she tired herself out and I brought her over to the bed where she instantly fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.

There was only 6 hours left until we would be on that plane back home, and I couldn’t wait another minute. I was tired as hell, but I stayed up all night to make sure that Emma wouldn’t stop breathing or something like that. It killed me inside to see her like this, but I loved her.

I loved her unconditionally.
