Chapter One
1970
Are you ready to go?" David asked me as he walked into my apartment.
I threw the last of my things into my suitcase and zipped it shut before dragging it out of my room.
"Christ, bring enough stuff?" he laughed and picked up my bags, making it seem so easy compared to my weakness. "Is that it?"
"Wait" I scurried back into my room and grabbed my bracelets off of my dresser and tied them around my wrist. I looked around my room one more time before walking back out into the living room where David was waiting patiently.
"Okay, let's go" I locked the door behind me and we got into the cab that was waiting to take us to the airport.
"I'm actually really excited, I can't wait!" I smiled and nestled my head on his shoulder as he leaned against the car door.
"I'm glad that you're coming, you'll love it babe" he kissed my forehead.
I've never been on tour with them before. It's been nearly 2 years since David and I started dating and not once have I ever been on tour. Of course, I would go to their shows when they were in London or close by... but I really wanted to finish my art school before going anywhere.
And what a perfect time to start, seeming that we're going to America. The country always fascinated me, and I was that lucky girl to be going with Pink Floyd. Or should I say, with David Gilmour.
When we arrived at the airport, the others were eagerly waiting around for the flight to begin.
"About time" Roger looked at his watch before glancing back up at us. He always gets pushy like that, so I tended not to pay attention to it.
We showed the flight attendant our passports and walked up the ladder into the giant plane. I was getting really nervous as I took a seat beside the window and twirled my hair in my fingers.
"Are you okay?" David asked as he sat beside me.
"I've never been on a plane before" I admitted.
"Really? Well, it's not that bad" He held onto my hand before planting a kiss on my lips.
In no time, we were up in the air as we made our way to Manhattan, New York. I knew that it was a long trip and that the time zones would change, but I really couldn't wait. I rested my head on the window as I looked out of it, and closed my eyes for a quick nap.
"Emma!" David messed up my hair as he woke me up. "Look" he pointed out the window.
And there it was, the great city right below us. I couldn't help but smile; it was such an amazing sight. David leaned in beside me to look out the window too and kissed me on the cheek.
"Aren't you glad that you came with us?"
"One of the best decisions I've made" I giggled.
"One of the best?" he repeated. "Which one is the best?"
"Going to the club and meeting you, of course!"
We got off the plane and grabbed our luggage before heading into cars to take us to the hotel. I glanced up at the giant buildings that towered over us as we drove through the busy streets, taking picture after picture. I wanted to document the entire thing for keep sakes.
"So we have a show tonight..." Roger looked at the piece of paper in his hands as we were in the hotel lobby.
"And the party after!" Nick added and we all laughed.
We were handed our hotel keys and like expected, David and I were in a room. I opened the door which led into a beautifully designed room with a couch, TV, kitchen area, balcony... and around the corner of a wall was a giant bed. He dropped the suitcases on the floor and plopped himself on the bed letting out a tired sigh. I climbed on top of him and gave him a few kisses before he wrapped his arms around me and rolled me over onto my back. I couldn't help but smile as he smothered me in kisses; he always knew how to make me happy.
He traced my curves with his fingers as he explored my body like he did so many times before. I brought my hands up to the button on his jeans and teased him around it, but the moment was interrupted by Roger.
"Let's go Dave!" he yelled through the door.
He kissed me one more time before getting off the bed as I followed. "We don't have to be there for a while yet" he spoke under his breath.
"That's what you get for touring" I joked.
"But it's worth it, right?" he held onto my hips and pulled me in close to him.
"It's always been worth it" I smiled.
Once again, we were back in a car as it brought us over. We quickly got into the building and hung around in the dressing rooms for a bit before they would go on. David was already strumming away on a guitar quietly as Roger and Rick were talking to stagehands, and Nick was tapping his drumsticks on the table.
I took a couple pictures as we were waiting around; I didn't want to ever forget these moments, not that I would anyways. I liked to keep all the pictures I take in a photo album so when I was an old lady I could look fondly at the past.
And how great is it that I'll get to look back at the past I shared with David? All those perfect moments will make me smile one day, even the upsetting moments will too.
"Are you nervous for the gig?" I asked David.
He shrugged his shoulders and put the guitar down. "You get used to it"
I lifted the camera over my head and put it out in front of us. "Take a picture with me" I giggled.
He came in close to me and smiled his amazing smile that I fell in love with, before we took several other ones acting like idiots.
"Let's go boys!" Their manager told them, giving each member a pat on the back as they walked out of the door.
David gave me a quick kiss before going onto the stage to wow the entire audience, like he's done so many times before. I watched from the side of the stage as they played through their songs so perfectly, and then went back into the dressing room when the show was over.
"I can't get over how great you guys play... just... wow" I complimented when they came into the room. They all smiled in their pride as they wiped the sweat off their faces.
"We did play really well, didn't we?" Roger lit up a cigarette.
"Well c'mon, let's go to the club!" David cheered and held onto my waist, pulling me along with him.
At that point in our relationship, everything was going just perfectly.
