CHAPTER SIXTY-FOUR: APPECTING YOUR FATE

The plan to save the universe hadn't worked and instead it had speed up the end of everything.

Fei and Christopher had being lost to the Kugelblitz and Five had risked his own life to save Ben before he was also lost to the Kugelblitz.

The Kugelblitz have grown so big that it have absorbing everything.

Lucky, the Hotel Obsidian was still standing, so you and the others have settled down there to think about what to do now.

"There must be another way to stop this" Five said as he was walking back and forth in the bedroom that you and him were in. 

"There is no other way. That was our last chance and it didn't work" you said "We have to come up with something" he said.

You see how his face that he didn't wanted to give up. He was trying his best to come up with even the smallest plan.

"I don't think there is any way in saving the world now" you said "That doesn't look like you, giving up, we have to fight more for this" he said out loud "Not all fights are worth fighting for. Odds are, we don't survive this one" you said "I'll take those odds if it mean I get to spend it with you. If it means living a new wonderful life together I will take those odds. If it means living a normal none-apocalypse life with you. Starting a family with you, I will take those odds" he said out a little loud which caused you to flinch a bit.

There was a few seconds of silence with you and Five just looking at each other.

"Come we better called a family meeting since we unfortunately need to discussing this Kugelblitz issue again" he said "You are right. There a too many of us to run the risk of being on different pages. We're a team, remember?" you asked and he nodded before you both walk out of the room.

You and Five walked up to the second floor where you were going to meet the others.

As everyone gather up, you and Five was standing by the railing thinking while Sloane and Luther was sitting on a couch leaned up at each other as Viktor and Lila was sitting on the a chair each.

Viktor was sitting normal on the chair while Lila was sitting upside down.

You didn't knew if Five was thinking about a new plan to save the universe or if he was trying to accept that it was over.

"So, how is it that we're still here, but the whole of the universe is going down the cosmic shitter?" Allison asked "Maybe we're the last to get flushed" Viktor said "Wasn't talking to you" Allison said to him as she crossed her arms over her chest while looking away from him.

"Hey, has anyone seen Klaus?" Luther asked "Or Dad" Sloane said.

"They'll be there" Diego said "Really? Did they...hit traffic?" Ben asked sarcastically and Diego looked at him as Ben turned to face the others "Look, people, we're alive because we're special, right? We're the only ones who can save the universe" he said.

"What's the point of saving the world, when there is almost nothing to save. What is there to save and to fight for. I know we still have each other, so shouldn't we be spending that last time we have left, together" you said and Five took a quick look at you before he turned his head back.

"Uh, question" Allison said as she raised her hand "Yes" Ben said as he turned to her "Didn't we just try saving the universe and fail miserably?" she asked "Yeah, it's because his plan was stupid" Diego said as he pointed at Ben "Mm" Allison said.

"I got a better one" Diego said "'Course you do" Ben said annoyed "We go with the large hard-on particle accelerator. You guys do some science, and..." Diego said and clicked his tongue while he mimicked a bat hitting a ball "...we launch the Kugelblitz into outer space. Didn't think I knew that, did ya?" he finished as Lila sat up in the chair before Diego looked at Ben "It's in Switzerland" he said "It's 'hadron' not 'hard-on'ya moron!" Ben shouted "Oi!" Lila shouted and Ben looked at her "At least he's trying you shitty little squid. What have you contributed?" she asked.

"Actually, he did blow up half his family" Diego said as he pointed at Ben "Oh, you wanna talk about family problems?" Ben asked as he walked towards Diego "You know what should have blown up is your face on that neck!" he shouted "I wish I had a cake to hit you with it in your face!" Diego said as they were inches from each other.

"What are you talking about?" Ben said in Korean "You better cut that out..." Diego said in Spanish "Shut up" Ben said in Korean as they both continued to argue in their native language causing you and the others to roll your eyes.

"Jesus" you said as you put your hands in your face.

"Hey!" Five shouted shouted causing Ben and Diego to look at him "You guys done?" he asked as he approached the group "The universe is disappearing outside" you said as you pointed towards the large windows above the hotel doors "So you can keep rearranging the desk chairs of the Titanic if it makes you feel better" Five said before he put his hands in his pockets "But the fact remains that we are too late" he said and both Diego and Ben scoff before they walked away from each other and back to the place they were standing before.

You looked at your husband, you could see that this was the latter. Five had accepting your fate and for the first time, he was actually giving up which you understand caused you had giving up too.

"Five, come on" Luther said "It's over, Luther. We failed" Five said "Come on. It can't be over over" Viktor said as he took his feet from the coffee table "Yeah, come on, Five. We gotta figure this out, man" Diego said before he looked at you "Come on, Y/n, tell him, give him hope, like you always do" Diego said "Not this time. I can only give him hope if I had it too which I don't right now" you said.

"Okay. How about we take a step back?" Five said and clapped his hands together "Look at the big picture here. Most of us have spent the last 28 days trying to stop the world from ending. What exactly have we accomplished?" he asked and nobody said anything, realizing that you hadn't accomplish anything.

"Well, we made some friends along the way" Luther said and smiled as he looked at Sloane next to him "Incorrect!" Five said as he pointed at Luther who smile faded "You know what we've done? Nothing. We made things worse every single time" Five said.

"Look, when I went to The Commission, I had a conversation with my 100-year-old self. And my last words were, 'Don't save the world'" he said "'Don't save the world'?" Viktor said "'Don't save the world'" Five repeated as his face felled.

"And what about Y/n?" Diego asked as he pointed at you "You talk to her too? Cause I'm sure her 100-year-old self would have giving your 100-year-old self a punched or a slap for saying that" he said "I was dead, Diego" you said "How do you know that?" Diego asked "'Cause I saw my 100-year-old self's dead body" you replied "You expect me to believe that someone like you can just die like that" Diego said "Well, death claim us all some day and I have cheated death many times but we all knew there would be a time when I wouldn't. So I always knew it would happen eventually" you said before walking over and sat down on some small steps.

"I don't believing any of that. Y/n can't die and your old self told you not to save the world. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard" Diego said "Is it?" Luther asked as he looked at him.

"Well, whatever we're doing's not working. All we ever do is save the world for a day, pat ourselves on the back and then everything goes shit again" Luther said "Yeah, maybe we're the problem" Viktor said "Oh, yeah. Us" Allison said with a scoffs.

"So, wait. Your big plan is no plan?" Lila asked "Exactly. Conscientious objection. Why the hell not? We're tried everything else" Five said before his green eyes met your Y/e/c ones.

"Look, maybe this just what the universe needs. I say, embrace the apocalypse. See what's on the other side" he said "What it it's...nothing?" Sloane asked "Then it's been nice knowing you all" Five said with the sound of hopeless in his voice.

Five turned to you with a saddened defeated expression painted on his face. What the group didn't know is he was too unsatisfied by this answer. The only thing he wanted was to live a long happy life, with you by his side, but he knew he had to listen to his future self.

"Whatever's on your bucket list, I recommend you do that now" Five said before he walked over and sat down next to you.

You and him looked at each other and he grabbed your hand before you rested your foreheads against one another.

"I'm sorry, for raising my voice at you earlier" he whispered "It's okay, I'm sorry for giving up" you said "No, don't be, I'm the one that should be sorry for getting mad at you 'cause you have accepted our fate. I was just mad 'cause I have not accepted it yet, but now I have" he said and you let out smile as you pressed your foreheads more against each other.

Everyone fell silent as you took in his words with your hearts and minds.

Five kissed you on the forehead before you rested your head on his shoulder, lacing your fingers more together as you hold your hands tighter.

You then lay your head on his lap and he leaned down, putting a kiss on her cheek before he began stroking his hand up and down on the side of her head.

You didn't know exactly how you felt. Every since you were little, you always wanted to travel around the world, live a wonderful and long life with Five, have kids of your own, but fate told you otherwise. Not saving the world and waiting for the world to end didn't sound like the worst idea now. You hope that when you finally did go, you and Five would go down together and then live together in the afterlife.

Luther and Sloane then looked at each other with a smile "Well, on that...super happy note, we've, um..." Luther said, not knowing how to tell the others "Oh, what the hell" he said before they got up.

"We've, uh, got a little announcement to make" Luther said and you looked at Five "They are either engaged or they are moving to the moon together" you said "Want to do one finally bet?" Five asked as he looked at you with a raised brow "You do know that I have won almost every bet we had made" he said "Yeah, almost, but this time I will win" you said "Oh, really" he said "Yeah. Are you scared?" you asked "No, but you are" he said "Alright, you are on, 10 bucks on that they are engaged" you said "You don't have any money" Five said "Either do you" you said.

"We've, uh, got a little announcement to make" Luther said before they both took a deep breath "We're engaged!" they both said smiling as Sloane showed her finger which had a ring on it.

"Kill me, Jesus" Ben said quietly "Idiots" Five mumbled with dejected sigh.

"Now?" Allison asked "Yeah. Look, we realize the timing is less than ideal. But, obviously, it's now or never. Am I right, Five? Y/n? You two got married at the end of the world. You guys had an apocalypse wedding" Luther asked as he pointed at Five and I with a smile "Don't drag us into this, please" Five said "I agree with him, beside that was different. But, he's not wrong. We did get married in the middle of the apocalypse" you siad "Well, keep that story to yourself for now" Five said.

Not that Five didn't like the story, he loved it, but he personally liked it between the two of you only. It felt more romantic that way. His family wold just find a way to tease him.      

"What...Whatever time we have left, we wanna spend it with all of you. So we're super pumped if you would join us in the banquet hall at 6:00 p.m. for a celebration of our love, and the official union of what's left of our two great families" Sloane said as she looked at us "Dress code is creative black-tie" Luther said and Sloane laughed.

"Wish we had a union at a banquet" you said "In another life, my love, in another life" Five said "I'm holding on to it, Pretty boy" you said. 

Luther and Sloane then began handing out the invitations they had made to you and the others.

The invitations was small jars with rocks that was laying in a baskets as they handed them out.

A wedding might have been just what you all needed but it wasn't what most wanted. Getting ready to die was not a celebration they wanted to partake in, especially if it involved marking something new. If would be good, thinking about something positive and have one last moment together as a family.    

"Wow" Lila said with a small laugh as she was looking at her invitations "And you did all of this yourself?" she asked "Luther helped too. We stayed up all night" Sloane said as she gave you and Five a invitation that was addressed to both of you "Amazing" Lila said "I love it" you smiled.

 Then all of a sudden Reginald and Klaus came up the stairs to them.

"Dad?" Ben said in surprise "Klaus" you said as their return shock all of you since you thought that they had been Kugelblitz.

"Where have you been?" you asked as you put down the jar that Sloane had handed to you.

"Hey" Klaus said "Oh, thank God" Viktor said "Gather 'round, children. Quickly now!" Reginald said "The hell have you been?" Diego asked Klaus "Oh, Reg and I. We got tangled up in a whole father-son end-of-the-world road trip kinda thing. You know" Klaus said "You two are hanging now?" Ben asked "We laughed, we cried, we played in traffic, and long story short, I'm immortal now" Klaus said and and grunt dramatically "Whoa, wait. You're what now?" you asked while you furrowed your brows before you look at Five who look just as confused as the rest "Klaus, have you gotten into the bath salts again?" Allison asked

"I think the more pertinent question is, why are you all playing with jars?" Reginald asked as he saw that everyone had small jars filled with rocks in their hands.

Lila poured her rocks down while Diego threw the jar away. "They're invitations" Sloane said as the sound of a jar clatters was heard.

"Nobody's playing" Luther said "Luther and I are getting married" Sloane said as she handed a invitation to Reginald "All of space and time is collapsing, and you are planning a wedding?" Reginald asked "Yeah, and, uh, the things is, um" Luther said as he got up and walked over to Sloane and Reginald.

"Space is limited. So it's kind of a per-plate situation, so, you know" he said before he took the jar from Reginald.

"Would you have invited our father to our wedding?" you looked at Five "I wouldn't have mind, but that would have been your decision" Five said.

"Is this how I raised you? To fiddle while Roms burns? You children all have disastrous issues and are completely incompetent" Reginald said "You didn't raised us, you trained us, there is a difference. And also you filled us with childhood trauma, emotional abuse us, experimented on us, so you won the award as the worst dad ever, you A-hole" you said causing Reginald to look at you.

"You are the worst one" he said, his voice full of disappointment and disgust. You scoffed and rolled your eyes, not caring at all. "Why don't you mind your own business, you old fuck?" you hissed.

"Congratulations, Reggie. You have pissed of my wife" Five said before blinking right in front of his dad "Which means you've pissed off me" he said, threatening, his face in Reginald's. 

Reginald was about to step closer to you but Five block his way. "Lay a hand on my Y/n/n and I will kill you" Five said as Klaus walked over to Reginald "Remember what we talked about, Reg" he said to Reginald "Remember to breathe" he said "Quiet, I'm on a roll" Reginald said.

"Dad, have you been taking your pills?" Sloane asked "As a matter of fact, I haven't. And I can confirm that I've never felt better in my life. You thought you could dope me up and slow me down, take control of my affairs and squander my fortune. Well, Klaus here was good enough to wean me off that wretched poison. And now that the fog is lifting, I can see all your dastardly designs with a bracing clarity" Reginald said and Sloane looked at Klaus "You took him off his meds? What were you thinking?" she asked while Five walked back to sit down next to you.

"He's the only one doing any thinking. All of you could learn a thing or two from this impressive young man" Reginald said as he pointed at Klaus and Diego chuckled while he crossed his arms over his chest "The world really is ending! Oh my God" he said while laughing.

"As for you the rest of you, your training is to resume post-haste. We're running out of time. We're have a mission to complete" Reginald said "I'm ready. Let's do this" Ben said to his dad.

"Let me guess" Five said and Reginald looked at him "Project Oblivion?" you and Five said at the same time "How do you two know about that?" Reginald asked them "We heard all about it from Pogo" Five said "Now, there's a name I haven't heard in some time" Reginald said "And he confirmed what the two of us always suspected about you" you said "Which is?" Reginald asked "That you're a sadistic lunatic who's planning on gambling all of our lives in another pointless mission" Five said "And that you saw us as nothing more than experimental material that could be tested, prodded, and abused in order to accomplish the tasks you set out for us" you said.

"And you'd take the word of a disgruntled chimp over that of your own father?" Reginald asked and Five blinked right up in front of him "Every damn day" he said as he looked him with rage in his eyes and a sarcastic smile on his face.

"And what about you Y/n?" Reginald turned to you "You agree with this man?" he asked "I mean. He's my husband and nine times out of ten, he knows what he's talking about. Beside I also trust Pogo more than I trust you" you pointed on Reginald "'Cause he was more a dad to us than you ever was" you said.

"Nobody wants you here, Dad. You should leave" Luther said "Hey, you don't speak for all of us, big guy" Ben said to him "You're feel free to join him" Luther said as he glanced at him.

"I see. So this is what it's come to. Insurrection" Reginald said and Klaus shushed him "That's not the kind of erection we're driving for here, all right? Everybody just needs to be cool. Clearly, you guys are on a different chakra frequency right now" he said to him before he grabbed Reginald's arm "Hey Pops, let's go have a nice cup of tea in the suite" Klaus said "Let go of my arm" Reginald said "Luther, Sloane. Oh my God. I'm beyond thrilled" Klaus said as he began to walk away, pulling Reginald with him.

"You guys are gorgeous. Amazing. Send me your registry" Klaus said as the two left.

Diego then walked away and Lila followed him while Five walked over to you "Come, let's get back to our room" he said before he grabbed your hand, helping you up and the two of you left.

"Hey, Viktor" Luther said and sat down next to him "Um, I got a question. Well, really, it's more of a request, um...it's totally last minute, and...The whole thing is last minute, but I--" Luther said "What is it?" Viktor asked "Will you be my best man?" Luther asked and Viktor's eyes widened "You don't have to do much. You just have to stand next to me and make sure I don't act like an idiot. You know" Luther said with a chuckled and Viktor smiled "I would love to" he said "Okay. Great" Luther said while smiling "Um, okay, so we're on a tight schedule. The bachelor party is in 15 minutes, and not everyone is invited--" "What was that?" Ben asked, cutting Luther off and they looked at him.

"Nothing, man" Luther said and chuckled "Nothing" he said and Ben walked away.

"You okay?" you asked as you and Five enter your room "Yeah, I just. I would have loved to have a calm life, but I guess it's not in the cards" he said "Maybe in another life" you smiled and he let out a sigh.

"Maybe in another life, maybe in another life you have some super cool job like an agent and we can live in a little apartment. Every night when we get home, we can lay in the living room watch some TV shows and fall asleep together. We can save up money and get a house in the countryside, maybe even have kids of our own" you said.

Five thought for a second, finally letting himself indulge in a fantasy. In all reality, you would all probably be born again in the new timeline or universe. Maybe with powers or not, either way, he had a feeling he'd find himself right where he was, right next to you.

"We have failed honey, it's over" he said as he turned around to face you and you saw the tears in his eyes.

Five have hold it together the best he could for so long, but he couldn't hold it together anymore. He was exhausted and tired and after everything he has being through, he just wanted to break down but he have hold himself together so long cause he didn't want anyone to see him as weak or fragile.

But when he was with you, he felt like he could let all his emotions out so this was it.

Before he could stop it, tears started running down from his eyes "I tried Love. I really tried" he cry as he looked down.

Without saying anything, you walked over to him before wrapping your arms around him.

The only hugs he have gotten was actually from you, not from his siblings, but you have actually being the only that he have actually gotten a hug from.

"I'm so sorry. I broke your life. It's my fault that you wouldn't get that life you deserve" he cried "No, no" you said as you pulled away and you put his face in your hands.

"It's not your fault. You have giving me everything I always wanted. Of course I'm sad over that I don't get to live it at the fullest, but I rather die tomorrow than live a whole life without knowing you" you said "I feel the same way, I rather die tomorrow than live a whole life without knowing you" he said as a tear felled from his eyes.

"You have not destroyed my life Five, you have making it all better, okay" you said "You've really changed everything for me" he said "And you have for me" you said "You have giving me everything I need but never thought I would need" he said "I'm sorry that we don't get to live that none-apocalypse life together" you said "I'm sorry too" he said "But as least we got to live a life together in the apocalypse and that's always something I will cheer forever" you said "Me too" Five said.

"Listen, I know you did your best and you can always be proud of that. Think about it, if it hasn't being for us, our siblings would have being dead, three times already, so no matter what people say, you are and always will be the true hero" you said as you wipe away a tear that was rolling down his cheek with your thumb and he smiled "I wouldn't have done it without you, so you're a hero too" he said and you smiled before you rested your foreheads against each other.

Both of you accepting your fate.

You had Five, your best friend, your other half to a completed self, your husband, your genius, your savior. You was never on your own because Five was always there. He was there one way or another. In photos, memories, family, footprints and forgotten dust that rubbed off of your old souls.

He was always there.

Five had always been a lone person. Depending on books, logic and reason to live. He had that for a while, but then you appeared and he was twisted and turned. Logic wasn't found. Reasons gone from his mine. Books became unbelievable.

How could Five Hargreeves ever be loved?

He was a pragmatic, semi-narcissistic, arrogant archer that show his arrow the moment he could even if it would come back to stab him.

He didn't understand when he was met with kindness from you. He understood less when you would wrap your arms around him and tell him that you loved him. He couldn't find a line or glimmer of logic when it came to you listening to his ramblings and staring at him with your Y/e/c eyes like he was the entire world.

He didn't deserve that.

Did he?

How could he ever be loved in that manner?

But you were there. You stayed. Loyal to the end. Trust you would have his heels in your hands before he even attempted. And he wouldn't dare.

He loved you. He loves you.

he'd put his bow and arrow down the moment you appeared even if he would be taken out in the process. He'd taken any wound in order for you to come out alive. If it was him or you, it was you.

Every single time.

Five Hargreeves would never believe he deserved you.

Never.

But he had you.

And if this was the end, he'd hold you until the last breath was exhaled.
