CHAPTER FORTY-NINE: OFFICIALLY RETIRED

You opened your eyes to the sun shining into the room through the window.

You turned your head to see Five laying next to you, fast asleep.

You smiled before getting out of bed without waking him up.

It used to be hard for you to get out of his grip without waking him up, but this time you managed, maybe it was because his guard wasn't up because you have won.

You looked at him with a smile as you remember how in the first years of the apocalypse both you and Five wound always covered your faces up most of the time, to protect yourself and your lungs from the air that was practically lethal. It wasn't until you were 16 that you pulled off your masks as the air finally turned back to breathable. But that time, Five have grown a small beard and your face have also changed into a more adult look.

You smiled as you reached your finger up to Five's jaw and stroked it. He was so incredibly handsome. He was so incredibly attractive and you understand why you were so attractive to him when you were kids and you were happy that you won his heart and he was able to win your.

After have being to the bathroom you walked out to see Five still asleep.

"Honey" you said but he didn't react "Five?" you said "Hmm" he said, still with his eyes closed "Wake up handsome, or you will miss eating breakfast with the others" you said "All right" Five said, but still with his eyes closed.

"Five, come on, this is our first normal day as in a really long time" you said but Five started turning around "We don't want to spend the day just laying in bed" you said as Five lay on his side "Five!" you said, almost leaning over his side but he just groan.

But then you grabbed him before turning his body so he was on his back and kissed him.

Five pulled away and looked at you "What are you doing? I haven't even brushed my teeth yet" he said and you smiled "I don't care" you said and he smiled "Are you awake now?" you asked "Not quite yet, we have to try again" he said before he brought his lips to yours.

While you kept kissing he grabbed you and rolled you to the side of the bed, so he was over you.

Light jazz music was playing in the background when you walked down the stairs.

You were wearing white T-shirt and some dark blue shorts and some blue sneakers.

You over to the buffet before you put some food on your plate and walked over to sit by the table where Klaus and Diego was sitting

"Hello Sis" Klaus said "Hey bro" you said "So did you and Five had fun last night?" Klaus asked and you looked at him with a raised eye brow "That is none of your business" you said "Come on, I wanna know. How is Five in bed?" Klaus asked "You have always being a weird person Klaus, but you are sweet in your own odd way" you said before you looked at a young boy over by the buffet.

"Who is the kid?" you pointed at the kid "That is Stanley. My allegedly son" Diego replied and Klaus and you looked at him "That little delinquent is your son?" Klaus asked "Allegedly my son" Diego said and Klaus laughed "That's so funny!" he said as you got up before walking over to the buffet to get a glass of mimosa.

Then Five came up the buffet "Good morning Love" he said "Good morning" you said.

Five was wearing some black jeans, a white T-shirt with dark blue checked on and a white shirt underneath, he had a light brown vest on and a fedora on his head. The fedora was checkered blue with a black band around it and a small feather on the left side.

"I can see you have chosen an outfit that fit your age" you said and he chuckled.

"How did you sleep?" he asked "Good. It's a long time since I had such a good sleep" you said "Yeah, I notice, cause you didn't elbow me in the face or kick me in your sleep this time so that means that you had a good night sleep" he said "Well, I only do that when I have nightmares which I don't have anymore, now that I know that everything is fine" you said.

Five could see that you were a little shaky from last night nightmare so he kept an eye on you. He didn't try coddle you because he already knew that you'd end up shutting down. It was something he learn during the apocalypse and that was one of the many things he knew about you.

"Who's the kid?" Five asked as he spotted Stan who was sitting over by one of the couches by the wall, eating food.

"Diego's son, our nephew" you replied and he nodded again before he grabbed his mimosa drink.

Five followed after you with one hand tucked into the pockets of his jeans while carrying his drink with his other hand.

"Wait, who's...Who's the mother?" Five asked Diego as he looked over at Stan.

"Lila" Diego answered "Excuse me?" Klaus asked as you all widened your eyes "Whoa, I should have expected that" you said as you sat back down on your chair.

"Whoa, Lila's here?" Five asked "Was. She dropped him off in my lap last night then bolted" Diego said "I don't much care for that one" Klaus said "Don't" Diego said as he pointed his finger at Klaus.

"Technically, she's family" you said "She tried to kill you. She wanted to kill you and right in front of me" Five said as he was looking at you "Yeah, she was trying to murder us, like ..." Klaus said before thinking for a moment, trying to wrap his head around the time travel "Yesterday" he said "Yeah, like I said 'family'" you said "You are right, she is family, technically" Five said before he looked at Diego "Is she coming back?" he asked as he put down his drink before he turned around to grab two chairs from another table.

"Well, she goddamn better be, because we got more important things to be dealing with right now!" Diego said out loud causing Stan to look at him "Calm down. Shh" Klaus said to Diego "Be nice to him Diego, he's only 12" you said as Five sat down between you and Klaus.

"Be nice to him Diego, he's only a kid. I understand you are mad at Lila. But that is not a reason to yell at an innocent child, it's not his fault that he is your son. So don't blame him, you're the one who got down dirty with Lila in 63', not the kid, it's your fault that you didn't wear any protection, that's on you" you said as you pointed on Diego.

"But you are lucky you have a kid" you mumbled.

You then rested your head on your husband's shoulders. Five smiled before he stole a bagel of yours from you plate and placed a light kiss on your head.

"You two are so sweet" Klaus said. 

Then Vanya walked towards the table "Where's Luther?" she asked "Who cares? Probably out for...a run" Diego said as he paused for a second when he noticed her short hair.

"Nice haircut, it suits you" you said "Thanks" Vanya said "Mmm!" Klaus said as he swallowed his coffee "Love the haircut" he said as he waved his hand at her and she smiled. 

"So, I, uh, talked to Marcus last night" she said "Wait, what? You talked with the enemy? By yourself?" Diego asked her "Beside I don't even understand why they are the enemies" you said "They are the enemy" Diego said "Has this something to do with you getting your ass getting kicked?" you asked as you looked at Diego.

"Somebody had to do something" Vanya said "Who elected you, Vanya?" Diego asked "It's, uh, Viktor" Vanya said "Who's Viktor?" Diego asked.

There was silence for a few seconds before she spoke up "I am" she said and you all looked at her, understanding what she meant by that.

"It's who I've always been" Viktor said and no one said anything as you all looked at your sister who was now your brother.

Viktor looked at his family hesitantly as they remained silent while they processed the information "Uh, is that an issue for anyone?" he asked and Klaus let out a chuckled.

"Nah, I'm good with it" Diego said "Yeah, me too. Cool" Klaus said as he put some nuts into his mouth before eating them.

"Why would we have issues with that, I mean a member of the family is half monkey" you said before you got up and walked over to Viktor before wrapping your arms around him.

"I'm so happy for you Viktor, that you found yourself. I don't have a problem with it. Be who you wanna be. I will love you no matter what, because that is what family do" you said and Viktor smiled before he wrapped his arms around you.

"Thank you, Y/n/n" Viktor said, giving you a tight hug before pulling away "Of course Vik" you smiled.

"Truly happy for you, Viktor" Five said and Viktor looked at him before Five raised his brows while you walked back to your seat "But last time I checked, you don't speak for this family" he said.

"Okay, it's fine, okay? Marcus totally gets it" Viktor said as he sat down between Diego and you "He doesn't want a war any more than we do" Viktor said "What are you talking about? He tried to homicide us!" Diego said "So did Lila, and you had a kid with her" Klaus said "That's true" you said "That's not the point" Diego said as he turned to Klaus.

"We made a deal. He's gonna give back Five's briefcase, then we're gonna get out of the timeline. I'm gonna meet him later today for the, uh, the handover" Viktor said and Five let out a smile while Klaus clapped his hands in relief "Oh, thank God!" he said.

"Nice move Vik. But what is even your plan when you get the briefcase?" you asked "To go back and fix what ever we did back in 63' so we can go back to the original timeline" Viktor replied "That don't sound that bad" you said.

You were on Viktor's side on this one. You knew that you and your siblings don't belong in this timeline. Therefore it would be best to go back and fix the timeline again.

"That's a rookie move. Dude is playing you" Diego said "Oh, really?" Viktor asked as he was looking at Diego "Yeah, but maybe we can use this. And we turn it back on them, and then we wipe them the hell out" Diego said "Diego, stop, please. And you're not gonna, like, do anything today" Viktor said.

"Expect bond with your spawn" Klaus said and patted Diego on the shoulder "Alleged spawn" he corrected.

"Listen, I will get the briefcase, and then we will all go back and fix the timeline" Viktor said "Hey, we're not going anywhere! This is a perfectly acceptable timeline" Five said "Yeah, why don't you tell that to Allison, who's upstairs grieving her daughter, who doesn't even exist here!" Viktor said and your eyes widened for a second.

Poor Allison, she most be heartbroken, you know how it feels losing a kid.

 "Not to mention, we've been replaced by a bunch of blobs and cubes and birds and shit!" Diego said.

"News flash, geniuses! It's not about us! Take a look around. If you hadn't noticed, there's no doomsday. There's no apocalypse. The sun is shining. Birds are doing whatever the hell birds do" Five said "Five is right. That's all that matters. We're done messing with time. I would prefer a timeline where there is not another adult version of me out there now considering my physical state yes. But this timeline is safe. We're not bothered by the Commission or another apocalypse. No one is trying to kill us and we're all together. It's a fresh start for all of us" you said "Exactly. And Y/n/n and I are officially retired and we're gonna enjoy it together" Five said before he turned in his chair and Klaus sniffed at Five as he got up from the chair before walking to the buffet.

"Is he wearing aftershave?" Klaus asked them "I'm concerned" he said.

"But don't worry Viktor, I'm on your side" you said "Then, can you please talk to him" he said "I can try" you said "Thank you" Viktor smiled. 

You then got up before walking over to Five "So" he looked at you "Finally retirement" you said "Yeah" he nodded "It's time. I'm done worrying about saving the world. It has being so stressful. I'm tired and exhausted" he said "Me too. I'm exhausted too and just was to relax. So I want to retire as well" you said and Five smiled.

"So what do you do you today?" he asked "I actually don't know" you said. 

Then the lights in hotel suddenly switched off all at once before it flickered back on a minute later.

"That was weird" you said as both you and Five looked around, thinking it was weird about the lights.

"Yeah. Maybe it is a old hotel" he said "Yeah, probably" you said.

Then Klaus approached you both "Hey. What do you two say we get outta here, huh?" Klaus asked you both and he looked at you "Take a little...road trip" he said "What are you talking about?" Five asked "I'm talking about a sojourn to the countryside. You and me, the wind in our hair. Thelma and Louise, on the open road" Klaus said and Five let out a scoffed "You know they die in the end, right? And I would prefer if my wife didn't die for a second time, thank you" he said while he took some food on his plate.

"Holding hands, living our best life, my little cherub!" Klaus said before he leaned closer to Five as he crouched down to his height while Five scooped a spoon of fruit on his plate.

"Listen to me. I nearly died from Luther's sleep farts last night while you and Y/n/n was having fun" Klaus said and you rolled your eyes "We need to get out of here, get some fresh air!" Klaus said as Five walked around the buffet before he stopped and turned to Klaus.

"Okay, I'll bite. Why me, Klaus?" he asked "Because you said...you said you're retired, and that's what retired people do. And don't you deserve some fun? And Y/n is coming with us. You are coming with us right?" Klaus asked before he looked at you "I would love too" you said before looking at Five "Come on Sweety, a road trip might be good to just relax" you said.  

But then Five spotted that in the thank in the middle of the buffet there was no lobsters, like there was just a minute ago.

"There's no lobsters" Five said "Excuse me?" Klaus asked which 'cause you to also look over there and Five was right, there was no lobsters "You are right. There were three lobsters in that tank a minute ago" you said "Yeah, well, you know, maybe Chet blended 'em into a morning smoothie" Klaus said.  

Five tried to hide his smile as he looked back at Klaus "You're an idiot, but I'm in" he said "Whoo" Klaus said before he turned to you and gave you a big hug.

"We're going on a road trip" he said "Yaaah" you said.

"Let me go! Get your hands off me!" Stan shouted as Chet as he was holding a grab on him "I saw what you did!" Chet said to him.

"Hey, what the hell are you doing?" Diego asked as he ran up to them and Chet let go of Stan "Your son stuffed three mini muffins down his pants" Chet said to Diego.

"And this is a buffet! I can take whatever the hell I want!" Stan said "I got him" Diego said before he grabbed Stan's shoulder "Come on" he said "Wait, take it easy" Stan said "Time for some ground rules" Diego said "How about no physical assault. That's a--" Stan said but cut go off when Diego sat him down by the stairs that lead to the elevator "Shut up and listen" Diego said before he sat down next to him.

"My father was a Hall of Fame asshole" Diego said as Stan began eating the muffin. "And when I was a little pissant like you, I made a promise to myself that I would never act like him to any kid of...mine" Diego said "Yeah, stop. I'm gonna cry" Stan said sarcastic.

"But I'm a busy man, with a lot on my shoulders, okay? So I'm gonna let you slow me down either, all right?" Diego said "Yeah, you look really busy right now" Stan said sarcastic and Diego hit the muffin out of his hand before he looked at him "You can stay until your mom gets back, all right? But no more doing dumb shit, or else you and I are gonna have a serious problem" Diego said and Stan looked down "Look at me" Diego said and Stan looked at him "Me entiendes" Diego said in Spanish.

But then Diego noticed that Stan's right ear started leaking "Dude, your ear's leaking" Diego said "Oh, I...Yeah, I forgot to pack my ear medicine" Stan said "Oh sh--Ear medicine, huh?" Diego said "If I don't drain it, uh, pus leaks out and it smells like cat puke" Stan said "Come on" Diego said before the two got up and walked towards the front door of the hotel.

"Whoa, whoa! Where do you think you're going?" Viktor asked as he walked up to them "Kid thing. I'll be right back" Diego said "No. I need you to stay put and not do anything stupid until I get the briefcase" Viktor said "Yeah, and you're not the boss of him, okay" Stan said causing Diego to give him a small slap on the back of his head.

Diego then grabbed Stan's shoulder before the two walked towards the door.

"Come on, we'll get a few road sodas for the journey" Klaus said when both you and Five was done eating "Sometimes, you gotta clear the head out" Klaus said as Five and you walked after Klaus.

"Guys, wait. Where are you going?" Viktor called out to you "Get the rats out of the maze, you know?" Klaus said to the two of you "Come on" Five said.

"Let's pack something for the road trip" you said "And circle the things we want to see" Five said.
