CHAPTER FORTY-FIVE: WE DID IT

Herb and Dot appeared on the field and they looked around as they saw all the agents laying on the ground "Yowza" Herb said "I should've brought my parka" Dot said "Yeah" Herb said as the two started walking forward.

"Oh, wow. Excuse me, pardon me" Herb said as they stepped over the bodies "Ooh--" Dot said "Watch your step" Herb said.

"Herb. Dot" Five said as you, him and Diego approach the two. You were holding Five's hand.

"Hi" they both said as they stepped closer to the three of you, trying to step over all the bodies that were scattered out around the field while they apologizing to them.

"Sup, Herbie?" Diego said as the three stopped in front of Dot and Herb.

"Hey my man" Herb said before him and Diego gave each other a handshake.

"Good you see you guys" Five said as he put his hands in his pockets.

"I can't believe it. Is she...?" Herb asked "Really dead this time?" Five said as he knew that he was referring to The Handler "Oh, yeah" Diego said "Oh" Herb whispered.

"Now that The Handler's gone what happens at The Commission?" you asked "Eh" Herb said and Dot looked down at him causing him to turn to her "Just tell them" she said "We need to elect a new board of directors. But, until then, I, um...I've been voted in as acting chairperson" Herb said.

"No shit. Congrats, Herbie. That's huge" Diego said "I'm so goddamn nervous" Herb said "You'll do fine" Five said "Yeah, you can handle it" you said "Oh, thank you" Herb said.

"Herb, we need a favor" you said "Oh, sure, anything" Herb said "A briefcase" Five said "Get us back home, where we belong" you said and they looked at all the briefcases that was laying around the field "Take your pick" Herb said.

Vanya stepped into the house "Sissy" she called out "We gotta get Harlan packed" she said.

Sissy was sitting on Harlan's bed stroking her son down his cheek as he was asleep on the bed.

Vanya opened the door to the room "Hey" she said and Sissy looked up at her "The sooner we leave, the safer it is for everyone, and we can figure out the next steps from there" Vanya said as she enter the room.

Sissy let out a sigh before he leaned forward "We can't go with you" she said "Why not?" Vanya asked as she sat down on the bed next to her.

"To the future?" Sissy said, her voice trembles "Vanya, that's crazy talk. I mean, what would that even look like?" she asked "Well, we could be a family. I mean, just the three of us" Vanya said as she put her hand on Sissy's knee "We could have a whole life together" she said "What about Harlan? What if something happens to him? And what if we're separated?" Sissy asked and Vanya looked at Harlan.

"I can't risk losing him" Sissy said and Vanya looked at her as tears was showing in her eyes "What if they, like blame you for Carl or--" "Vanya..." Sissy said cutting her off "I saw you. Outside the barn. I...I saw you fl...float" she said "So, what, you're...you're scared of me now? Is...Is that what this is?" Vanya asked and Sissy shook her head "No. no" she said as she put her right hand on Vanya's left cheek "Scared for you" she said and she wipe Vanya's tear away before she lower her arm.

"Tell me we could have a normal life there...and no one would ever come after us for being with you like they did today" she said with tears in her eyes.

"I can't" Vanya said, her voice was breaking as a tear felled from her eye "Vanya, I would do anything for you. To protect you. But Harlan has been through enough. I can't...I can't put that child in any more danger. I can't" Sissy said and Vanya closed her eyes as she let out a sob before she opened her eyes again.

"You have given me the greatest gift of a lifetime. You let me feel alive for the first time" Sissy said with tears in her eyes and the two smiled to each other as they let out a softly sob while a tear felled from Vanya's eyes.

"You helped me find hope again. That's a wonderful thing" Sissy said with a smile.

"Where will you go?" Vanya asked "I'm not sure. Um...I have, um..uh, a friend in California" Sissy said "You go there, and you live a beautiful and wonderful life" Vanya said and they smiled to each other before Sissy put her hands on Vanya's cheeks.

"You ever find a safe way back to me, you take it. You hear me?" Sissy said before they kissed.

They both pulled away as they had their hands on each others cheeks and they smiled to each other before kissing again.

They pulled away and they both sob as they hugged each other.

Axel was walking down the long empty road when suddenly a small bus full with peace logos on, stopped next to him.

The door to the bus opened and a bald guy with a beard and glasses on stood by the door "Hey, fellow traveler. You need a ride?" he asked Axel.

Axel let out a heavily sigh before he entered the bus.

"So that's why you asked me to move?" you said as you and Five was sitting on the porch, waiting to watch the sunset together like they would always do.

Five had told you about how he had travelled back seconds to save you and the rest of your family after The Handler had killed all of you.

Too much talk bout myself
Drags me straight down to hell

"And also why we suddenly appeared by the barn door" you said "Yeah, I rewind time, just for a few seconds. But those few seconds, haunted me" he said "Why?" you asked "I..." he said before he let out a sigh.

Finally hearing from you
Pulls me back off the rail

"I can't lose you Y/n. I can't lose you" he said "You won't lose me Five, I'm always with you. Always" you said as you looked at him.

His eyes still haven't met yours. You need them to. Your eyes are still full of life. You're still full of life. That's why you softly grab his chin and force him to look at you. To look into your eyes.

"I'm still here. I'm not going anywhere" you said as Five's eyes are finally upon you "I wouldn't allow anything or anybody to take you away from me" he whispered and you smiled.

They all warned you bout me

"Just promise me you'll always be careful. And no matter what happens, I will protect you" he said "You know that I can protect myself" you said "I'm not saying that. Just do that for me" he said "I will. And I swear to protect you too" you said "Let's protect each other, okay" he said "Deal" you said and he smiled.

"Well, then it means you remember me telling you that you can do more than you think. You just have to believe in yourself. So you do listen to me" you said "I always listen to you, otherwise you won't shut up" he said "Most of the time you listen to me, but not all the time" you said and he chuckled "But you don't listen to me all the time either" he said "True" you smiled.

"Is it wrong, that this feel weird. We always wanted to get home and now that we are...it's all weird" you said "I know, but I can finally give you what you want" he said "And what is that?" she asked "The life you always wanted. I know that our life hasn't been the best" he said "I wouldn't trade it for anything" you said.

"Are we really going home Five?" you asked "Yeah, we're really going home" he said "I can't believe it that we're finally going home. I can't wait live normal life with you" you said "And I can't wait to live a normal life with you" he said.

"Even so it was terribly in the apocalypse I want you to know that I would never forget or replace any of those moments we shared together" you said "Me either, even so it was the darkest time of our life, I still love them" he said and you nodded "Me too" she said before she took a deep breath.

"Well, of course I would replace them with normal none-apocalypse ones with you. If I could I would do it" you said "Yeah, me too" he said.

"Do you remember the times we spent in a museum during the apocalypse?" you asked "Yeah" he answered "It had been one of the few places I have like during our time at the the end of the world. Even so the museum was destroyed like everything else was. We always found something to keep us both occupied until it was time to watch the sunset set off in the distance" you aid "Yeah. And I would never forget that" he said with a smile.

"Do you remember all those times we were watching the stars?" he asked and you nodded "Yeah, I love watching the stars and now I love it even more when I'm watching them with you" you said "So do I" he said.

"Remember our first kiss?" he asked "How can I forget that" you smiled.

And when we're out on the run
Drive into the setting sun

"You know that you are a mouthful to deal with" you said "If you regret it, then you are welcome to fill for divorce" he joke as you brushed his hair out of his face and frowned when the strands fell back in front of his eyes.

He then wrapped an arm around you before pulling you closer.

He tucked your hair behind your ear as he turned your head and your Y/e/c eyes met his soft green once before he pressed his nose against yours.

"Never. Unless you want to" he mumbled and you leaned back, placing your hands on his cheeks "Never. You are stuck with me forever" you said "You are also stuck with me forever" he said.

You then pressed your lips against each other, just like how your first kiss were.

You pulled away and you smiled as you pressed your forehead against his  "You are gonna be the death of me, Five Hargreeves" you mumbled "And you are gonna be the death of me, Y/n Hargreeves" he said and you smiled.

Y/n Hargreeves is the woman of his dream and no matter what, you will always be his first and only love.

You and him belong together. You are each other's half.

You were the woman he loved the most and nothing could ever changed that. He would do anything to protect you from any harm. You were his other and better half, his light, his world, his reasons to fight, to get back up, you were his hope, his strength, his smile, his happiness, his future, his forever, his first, true and only love and his reason to live and no matter what happen or will happen, he will never stop loving you and he would always be by your side. No matter how many fights, disagreement, battles, end of the world or apocalypses. Not even death could keep him away from you or stop him from loving you. You were his everything and he knew that you felt the same.

"You've always held my hand and been right here by my side. You've pushed me and given me courage. You were my light. It's all those things and more that made me fall in love with you" he said and you smiled.

Five Hargreeves is the man of your dream and no matter what, he will always be your first and only love.

He was the man you loved the most and nothing could ever changed that. You would do anything to protect him from any harm. He was your other and better half, your light, your world, your reasons to fight, to get back up, he was your hope, your strength, smile, happiness, your future, your forever, your first, true and only love and your reason to live and no matter what happen or will happen, you will never stop loving him and you would always be by his side. He have always stood your my side, help you, he have pushed you, giving you courages, he is your light, it's one of the reasons and more that made you fall in love with him.

"To be with you is the greatest happiness I have ever received in my life. You never have to doubt that. I love you. And I will always love you, in any world, in any timeline, in any universe, in any way" you said and he smiled "I wouldn't trade what we have for anything else" he said "Me either" you said with a smile.

"It's just you and me and...some other passengers coming with us" you said and he chuckled "You're always right, aren't you?" he asked "Well, when am I ever wrong?" you tilted your head "I guess I'll have to find out" he said "As if" you said "Then I will never be able to let you go" he said.

"Good or else I would have had to find a way to rewind time and knock some sense into you" you said "And what I would give for you to do that" he said as he leaned his head close to yours, so your noses were touching each other.

"I can't wait to live a normal life with you" you said as you rested your head on his shoulder again "I know that it will wonderful" he said and kissed you on the top of your head before he grabbed your right hand with his left and he lifted it up to his face, kissing my knuckles.

He then lowered your hands again so they were laying on your right leg and his left leg.

He then leaned his head on top of yours as you were both watching the sunset while your mind wander further, picturing the normal life you were soon gonna have with each other.

Five suddenly then got up and he walked a few steps forwards "What are you doing?" you asked and he turned before he stretched his left arm towards you "May I have this dance Mrs. Hargreeves?" he asked and you smiled "Yes you may, Mr. Hargreeves" you said before getting up and you grabbed his hands before the two of you started dancing.

He brought your hands up, placing them on his shoulders while his other hand rested on your waist.

Five puts his hands on your hips and you threw your arms around his neck while you kept your eyes on each other.

Five then leaned you down and you smiled as you leaned your head back.

He pulled you up again before he caught your hand when you dropped them to his chest and he stepped to your side as he spun you around while you were dancing.

While dancing, Five kept his green eyes on your beautiful gentle Y/e/c ones which he have always loved. They made the stars look like they aren't shining.

He lifted his left hand while you lifted your right hand causing your fingers to locked together.

He grabbed your hand and spinned you around while you were smiling.

You caught his free hand, placing it on your waist "This remind me of the day we got married" you said "That actually remind me of something" he said "What?" you asked "Well, since we only got married in an apocalypse and your siblings were not there, I was thinking" he said "Where are you getting at?" you asked as you both stop dancing.

"What do you say that when we have return home and relax for a bit. What do you say that we get married again, but this time with our siblings are there" he said "You really mean that?" you asked and he nodded "I think our siblings deserved to be there" he said "Okay, but I don't want all of that church thing. I just want to hold a wedding party together  you said.

"So as soon as we get back. We are gonna relax for a bit" he said and you nodded "But first we need to figure out if we really have done it" you said "Of course, and then we arre gonna retire" he said "Yeah" you nodded.

"You know when we were kids, I thought I would never get my happy ending. I thought I must not deserve it, after everything I'd been through. I wasn't worthy of that, you've shown me just how wrong I was. You are the only one that makes my heart skip a beat with just one glance. I didn't even believe in that saying until I met you. But with you I've found a connection that defies logic and makes my heart believe in miracles. You are my favorite 'how did I get so lucky' moment. You're not just the best thing ever happened to me, you're the reason I believe in serendipity" he said and you smiled.

"I love you, Five Hargreeves" you said "I love you too, Y/n Hargreeves" he said smiled as he put his left hand on your right cheek. 

You blushed as he also blushed.

You both then leaned closer before you connected your lips again. The taste of his lips, the warmth of his breath. It conveyed so much.

The touch your lips against each other filled your hearts with a rush of hormones that made you both feel all warm and fuzzy inside. In a moment so special and personal, such a simple gesture had such profound effect.  

You and Five weren't ever perfect. You have been together for over 45 years, you have know each other for your whole life. Five was often a man of solitude while you were a woman of knowledge. At times the two of you didn't mix and other times, you both did. But it was like the two of you were connected to each other in some way, like two magnets, two puzzles pieces. An invisible strong thread that tied them to each other. It had wrapped around them both way back to when you first connected when you were little kids. You  and Five often joked that in another time where you didn't get stuck in the apocalypse or didn't grew up together, you would have met either way, 'cause you were destined to have each other.

Diego walked out of the house to see Vanya sitting on the stairs that lead up to the door to the house.

He sat down next to her and the two looked at each other before they looked forward again.

Vanya leaned her head on Diego's shoulder and he looked at her before he leaned his head on top of hers.

Ray walked into his kitchen to find a letter from Allison on the table.

He grabbed the letter before he sat down to read it.

'Ray: We should've know I'd find a way to get the last word in. The good news is...we did it. The world is safe again. But the president is dead. And I am long gone. I wish I could be with you right now, in your arms. I don't belong in 1963, but my time here has changed me. It's changed all of us. I wish I could tell you it's gonna be easier from here...but it's not. It's going to get worse...before it gets better. So, I need you to hold on. Keep faith. Believe that good things will happen. Because the fight for a better world is never over. And we all have choices to make. And we have to live with the consequences...before we find the right way home'

You and the others all followed Five down the stairs of the house as he messed with knobs on the briefcase that he was carrying.

Five stopped and you all stood in a circle as he prepared the briefcase.

"Everyone ready?" Five asked as he glanced around at you all "I can't wait anymore" you said "Let's do it, yeah" Luther said "Okay" Five said "All right" Luther said and you all grabbed each other's hands.

You hooked your arm with Five's while Allison grabbed onto Five's shoulders as Vanya grabbed Allison's hand.

"All right" Five said "Wait!" Klaus said and you all looked at him. He tilted his head slightly before running towards the porch.

"Fifty bucks if we leave him here" Diego whispered to you and Five as Klaus grabbed a black hat before he put it on.

"Diego" you gave him a small slap on the shoulder.

Klaus then walked back to the circle before he put his hands up to his hat and swiped his finger along the edge before nodding.

Luther grabbed onto Diego's hand as Klaus grabbed onto Luther's and Vanya's hands.

Five grabbed the buckles of the briefcase before he clicked the briefcase open causing it to make a charging noise.

Blue electricity flew around them, touching all of you before the blue light from the briefcase got bigger.

A portal appeared above them quickly and you were all pulled into the portal before it closed and they all disappeared in a blue light.

You, Five and the others all gasps while you stumble backwards as they all appeared by the main entrance of the Academy, where a small table in the middle was.

Allison let out a sigh before panting "Oh, good God" Luther said as you all was groaning while looking around the room.

Five put the briefcase on the table before he grabbed a newspaper that was laying on the table in front of them.

"Wh...What day is it?" Luther asked "April 2, 2019. Day after the apocalypse" Five said "Wait, so we stopped it?" Allison asked "My God, it's over?" Vanya said relieved "Did we...actually succeed at something?" Klaus said as he put his arm across his lower chest "That's incredible" he said before putting his hands over his heart while you let out a laugh while looking around.

"Finally" you said with a smile. 

Five grabbed you before pulling you into a kiss "We finally did it" he said "We did it" you both smiled.

"All right!" Luther said as we all smiled in relief over that we have done it.

"I don't know about you guys, but I need a drink" Klaus said as he gave Vanya a quick hug while Five put his hands in his pockets as he was looking around and Klaus gave Luther a quick hug.

"In fact, I need several" Klaus said as he look around "I need one too" you said "Yeah" Luther said "I'm in. I'm in" Vanya said and you looked at Five "Pretty boy?" you asked "I'm in" he said.

"I should go find Claire" Allison said as you and the others followed Five into the living room "Oh, come on, one drink" Luther said to her before he grabbed her shoulder "No..." she said as he started dragging her towards the living room and she let out a sigh as she followed after him.

Klaus walked behind the bar and started grabbing glasses and drinks as you and the others came into the room.

You and Five stopped in front of the fireplace before looking up at a painting above it.

"Wasn't there a painting of us before we left?" you asked as you looked at Five. 

"Why is there a painting of Ben over the mantelpiece?" Diego asked and Klaus ran around the bar, running up to the side of Diego as Allison, you, Five, Vanya and Luther all looked at the painting.

"I knew you'd show up eventually" a voice said causing you all to turn towards the voice to see your dad Reginald Hargreeves standing up from a chair that was in front of the antler mount across the room from the bar.

"Dad" Diego said as your and the rest of your siblings' eyes all widened in shock over that your dad were alive.

"You're alive" Luther said softly and Reginald looked at Luther "Why shouldn't I be?" he asked "Yeah. Y-Yeah, you're right. I'm...I'm just happy that we're home and...together again" Luther said.

"'Home'? This isn't your home" Reginald said "What are you talking about? This is the Umbrella Academy" Allison said.

"Wrong again. This is the Sparrow Academy" Reginald said before looking up at the Sparrows who stopped by the middle of the balcony.

You have a bad feeling about this.

At the sound of echo footsteps approaching from upstairs was heard from behind them made you, Five and the others to turn around and they saw in front of a circular window stood five people and a grey cube that was floating next to them.

Diego pulled out his knife in defense, ready for a fight while Five stepped in front of you to protect you.

"Honey, I didn't knew you could travel through different realities" you whispered "I can't" Five whispered back "What the hell have you screw up now, Fivey?" you asked "I don't know" Five said.

"Dad, who the hell are these assholes?" a voice asked which cause you and the siblings to take their attention away from the people on the balcony to see a man walking out from the side.

Your and the other's eyes widened when you saw it was your brother Ben who was alive.

But he didn't look like the old Ben. His hair was different and he had an almost invisible scar on his face right under his left eye by his cheek.

You, Five and his siblings all froze in shock "Shit" you said as you all realised that you had screwed something up when you travelled back from 1963 to 2019.
