CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX: BLOW THE CHANCE

You were sitting next to Five as he was driving down the road towards Vanya.

Five glanced at you to see that you were looking down at your hands.

"You know what happen to Elliott wasn't your fault, right" he said, breaking the silence that was in the car. "I know. But I just wish that I was there, so I could have protected him, you know" you said "If you were there Love, the chance of you getting hurt were big. They might have killed you" he said "I know" you let out a sigh.

"You know that there will be consequences to what we have done" you said "There is always consequences to every act, choice and decision, someone take, no matter what they are" he said and you let out a sigh "We will handle it, and no matter what I'm going to protect you" he said "We're will protect each other" you smiled before he used his right hand to grab your left hand.

Then you saw another car driving towards you. "I think that is Vanya" you said as you pointed at the car.

As the two cars drove past each other, Vanya glance at Five and you that was glancing back at her.

They both hit the brakes and Five turned to you "Stay here" he said as he opened the door "Five" you warned "Don't get too close then. If she remember everything right now, I don't want you in the middle of it" he said before he quickly got out of the car.

"What are you doing here?" Vanya asked you and Five approach Vanya "Looking for you" you said "We're going back to 2019" Five said "What are you talking about?" Vanya asked and Five looked at his wrists watch.

"Look, we don't really have time to explain right now, but we found a way home" he said as he lowered his hands, looking back at Vanya "All right? We have 30 minutes to leave" he said before you and him turned around, taking some step forward, towards the car "What about my friends? I can't just leave them here" she said causing you both to stop as you turn to her.

"Vanya, you don't have a choice in this, all right?" Five said as he stepped closer to her "Doomsday will happen if you don't come with us" he said "He is right Vanya. We don't belong here. Okay, the longer we stay here, the more we screw up the timeline" you said.

"Okay, then I'm bringing them with me" she said "They belong in this timeline" he said "Says who? Sissy deserves a life where she doesn't have to pretend to be someone she's not" she said aggressive and you and Five shook your head as you both took a quick glance back at the car before looking back at her "And Harlan? There's a name for what he has. We can get him the help he needs" she said "Vanya" you and Five said calm, trying to convince her.

"Look, a mom and her eight-year-old son are not gonna screw up the timeline! They're insignificant" Vanya said "No one is insignificant" you and Five said before he stepped closer to her "We don't belong here and they don't belong in our timeline. If you stay, you will be the reason why they along with billions of other people die. And if you bring them to our timeline, well there's no telling what will happen. Maybe it will end with us never being born" you said "You don't know that!" Vanya argued "I'm sorry, all right? But we can't take that risk. They have to stay" Five said to her before he took a step backwards "Come on" he said as he turned around and walked closer to his car with you next to him.

"Why do you get to decide?" she asked causing him to turn to her as he stopped "You're the reason we're stuck here in the first place" she said to Five.

"You did not just say that" you said a little angry "If he did nothing, we would all be dead right now, thanks to you" you said "They're coming with me" Vanya said.

You and Five let out a softly scoffs as you stepped closer to her "Vanya, do not test us right now" you said as Five approach her and she let out a small smile "That's funny" she said and you and Five furrowed your brows "'Cause I was about to say the same thing to you" she said before her eyes turned white and her skin turned pale causing the couple to furrowed their brows again as the sound high-pitched tone resonating softly was heard.

Five and Vanya glanced at each other as the sound of Five's powers whooshing rhythmically was heard as he clenched his fist while they turned blue.

The two just stared at each other, it was like they were ready to fight but really didn't want hurt the other.

"Five" you said "Love, get in the car. I don't want you getting hurt" Five said to you before he clenched his fists and blue light appeared around his hands making a whooshing rhythmically noise as they glance at each other, it was like they were ready to fight but they really didn't want to hurt each other.

You could see in Five's eyes that he was telling her 'Don't make me do this. I don't want to hurt you'

Five could easy take Vanya down thanks to his assassin skills but he didn't want to because he didn't want to hurt her.

If Vanya used her powers, Five would grabbed you before blinking away so you wouldn't get hit.

"Stop" you said as you went between them "Y/n, Love, get out of here" Five said worried "No" you said as you stood between them "I know I shouldn't do this because you two are siblings and can handle this, but clearly you can't right now, so now the responsible sibling are stepping in" you said before you turned to Vanya.

"Please don't do this Vanya, we are trying to save you plus Sissy and Harlan. Please don't be like this. I'm sorry that you can't take them with you. I am sorry that you have found love and can't bring her with you. It's rare to find something so precious in a horrid time. But we can't risk messing things up again. If you brought Sissy and Harlan with you, have you thought about how that may affect her and Harlan? Maybe it could help the boy and I wish we could because he sound like a kind boy who just need help, but there could be numerous troubles that comes with it. There's a reason why they were put into this time. I'm so sorry but we have to leave them behind. And you know I would tell you if you could. You're one of my best friends, my sister and I wouldn't want you getting hurt" you said and Vanya glanced at you.

Five then grabbed your shoulder before he pulled you behind him as he went up in front of you "Don't hurt her, please. If you want to take your anger out on someone, do it to me, be mad at me, take this out on me, just please don't you hurt her" Five said almost begging to her as he stared at her.

But you walked up to stand next to Five "We love you Vanya, so please don't make us hurt you" you said.

But then Vanya pushed back in earnest and Five's and your ego floods in respons. Vanya is glowing and you and Five knew this from the beginning, but it is something else to see it, something else to know that she could come at you with everything she is and still be brought to her knees.

You and Five worry for the world and Vanya in equal measure and wonder which subsumes the other.

Vanya then powered down like she was pulling herself back, like she respected you both.

Her eyes and skin changed back as her and Five both powered down.

"Fine" she said 'Fine' What?" he asked "I'll be there, but I need to say goodbye first" she said "Oh, Vanya, we don't have the time" he said "Well, it's either that or I'm not coming" she said "Let her say goodbye, Hon. She deserve to say goodbye" you said "Okay" Five said and she turned around before walking back to her car.

"The alley. Don't be late" Five said as you and him got back into the car.

"Were you insane, you could have gotten hurt" Five said "I didn't, beside it was you that was about to turn this into a fight, so I stop it" you said "Well, thank you for that" he said "Of course" you said with a smile.

Five then put his right hand on your knees while his left hand was on the car steering wheel.

You put your hand on top og his right hand and you both stroke your hands up and down on your knees.

"It wouldn't be long now Love, soon we will all be home. And the two of you are living that life we always talk about, remember?" he asked and you nodded "Of course" you smiled.

When you walked into the living room, you saw Five on the couch "Hi" you said "Hi" he said with a smile while you walked over to the back of the couch before stopping behind him.

"So are you ready to go home?" Five asked as he tilted his head back to look up at you as you ran your finger tips down the side of his neck.

He leaned his head into your right hand, trapping your hand against his neck while he smiled.

"I know what you're doing" he said "And that is?" you asked "You are trying to tickle me" he said "I just want to see you smile and hear your laugh which is why I'm trying to reach the spot where I know you are most ticklish" you said.

"Stop that" he said "I'm not doing anything" you said as you brought your other hand to the other side of his neck.

Five then smiled "There is that smile I love" you said "I'm only able to get it to appear when you are here" he said and you lay a kiss on first his forehead, then his cheek, then his nose and last his lips.

Five lifted his hand up to your cheek as he sunk deep into the kiss.

But then you pull away "Hey, not more. Just when I was enjoying it" he said "We can do it after, we need to meet the others" you said "You're right" he said.

"I will help Diego with burying Elliott" you said "And I will clean this place up so it look nice" he said "You don't have to do that" you said "I know, but this is the least we can do for him" he said and you smiled before you turned around and left.

While Five decided to clean up in Elliott's apartment so there was no blood and so it look nice, you found Diego standing inside a hole that he had duge that was only a couple of feet deep.

He had a shovel in his hands and he was digging up more and more dirt while Elliott's body was off to the side in a wheelbarrow with a sheet covered up the body.

"Hey Diego" you said and he stopped digging before looking up at you "Hey Y/n" he said before he wipe his forehead cause of the heat.

"Where is Five?" Diego asked "Cleaning Elliott's apartment, getting rid of all the blood and making it look nice" you said and he nodded "I thought you and Five went to get Vanya?" he asked "She wanted to say goodbye first" you said and he nodded.

"I thought you went to get Klaus?" you said "Well, Klaus had something to do before meeting us and I wanted to bury Elliott" he said "Can I help?" you asked "If it is not too much for you, then fine" he said and you grab another shovel before you started digging.

"I'm sorry about Lila Diego" you said "Don't be. It was my fault for trusting her" he said "I actually think that you two were a great couple" you said "I thought we had something, you know, but she lied to me so" he said "I'm sorry" you said "It's okay, I was a fool for trusting her" he said "You are not a fool, Diego. You were in love" you said "I'm not in love with her" Diego said "Yeah you are. Beside I have know you since we were kids, so I know that you were in love with her. Beside you know you love someone when you can't hate them for breaking your heart" you said and Diego glanced at you before he continued digging.

You let out a sigh "You okay?" Diego asked "I'm fine" I answered "No, you're not. I can sense something is wrong" he said "It's nothing" you said "Is it about Five?" he asked "No" she answered "Do you hate your husband?" he asked "I love Five" you said "I didn't ask or say that you don't love him. I ask if you hate him?" he asked "Well, punch me for hating my husband a little because he's being an asshole sometimes" you said before you took a deep breath "But sometimes I wonder if I made the right decision" you said "About marrying Five?" Diego asked as he looked at me.

"I know that Five can be an asshole, but he loves you and you love him, so if you ask me I think you made the right decision" he said and you shook your head "I didn't mean marrying Five. Even thought he makes me want to punch him at least once a day. I can't imagine loving someone else as much as I love him" you said "Then what is it?" he asked "Not breaking my contact with the Commission earlier and go back to you guys, or telling you about Vanya" you said and he looked at you.

"You knew?" you nodded "Since when?" he asked "I had always had a feeling about it, but it was not until the cabin" you said "Why didn't you tell us?" he asked "I was planning on, I was just scared what Luther would do, scared what you all would do, because you would find out that she was the one that cut Allison's throat and she was the cause. But I was going to tell you guys" you let out a sigh.

"You know that I was going to defend Vanya, right, so would Klaus " he said "I know, but I was scared. I didn't knew how you guys have changed since I had not seeing you since we were 13, and people can change" you let out a small sob "I'm sorry" you said "It's okay" he patted your shoulder "You did it to protect her. And I understand. You didn't knew how much we have changed, but it's okay" he said. 

"I feel like all this is my fault because I kept my mouth shut" you looked up at him "Bad things happen around me Diego" you said "The apocalypse wasn't your fault, Elliott's death wasn't your fault" he said "I know that" you said "But...?" Diego asked.

"But, we've both know that I'm not the nicest person. I have being like this since I was little. Violence and surviving is the only thing I now know because I've been on survival mode since I was 13 years old. And maybe the time and the universe has had enough of my bad behave and then decided that I should get punished for not telling you guys about Vanya. So they decided that if I could let someone as sweet, caring, kind and funny as Elliott die like that. I don't deserve to be happy. I deserve to be alone and never be happy" you said "You're not a bad person, Y/n/n. You're hurt but that doesn't mean you are not good. It means you are a good person which bad things has happen to" he said and you chuckled.

"By the way why were you and Five covered in blood?" he asked "We made a deal to kill some people in exchange of a ticket home. We both took the deal cause it was our only option. The only way to save the world" you looked up at Diego "Something you have to take some difficult choice that look wrong to others" you said and he nodded.

"Can I ask you something?" he asked "Yeah" I said "Why are you even following Five, it's clearly that you are had the armor on in that relationship" he said " I love him, yeah he can be an asshole, but I see the kind, caring and soft side of him. He means everything to me and I can't wait to get back and live a normal life with him" you said "Well, you two love each other very much, you don't have to pay attention to see it" he said before he looked at you.

"Come here" Diego said as he opened up his arms before wrapping them around you, comforting you with a hug.

"I'm so sorry for everything you have being through Sis. But remember we're your siblings, and we will always be there for you" Diego said.

"You know what" he said and you looked at him "I'm actually glad that you and Five got married. And I'm glad that I have a sister like you" he said.

"Why do we have to bury Elliott here. I want him to have a nice funeral" you said "I want that too, but we both know that people will start asking questions" he said "Yeah. And he is in a better place now" you said and Diego smiled.

"Well, I think I will find some sticks and made a cross out of them and then decorate it will flowers" you said "Good idea. Then I will finish this hole" he said "I will be right back" you said before you left.

But as soon as you had left Diego heard footsteps in the grass behind him "Oh good" he said as he kept digging "It's you and your stupid face" he said "Weird time to garden" Lila said as she kept walking towards Diego.

"Can we talk? The truth this time" she said "Oh, I know the truth. You used me, Lila. You're a liar" he said and she shook her head "Oh, come on. What did I really lie about?" she asked "Who you are, who you work for, why you're here, what you want form us. That's all" he said "Yeah, but the rest was true" she said as she moved her arms before she stopped.

Diego let out a sigh as he kept digging "Everyone lies, Diego, and...and I was only lying to protect you" she said as she took a few steps closer to him and he snapped his head up to look at her.

"Mostly" she said as she stopped a couple feet in front of him. He took a step closer to her before putting the shovel blade into the ground while holding the end of the handle "Do you know how hard it is to trust people when your whole childhood was bullshit and manipulation?" he asked "Uh-huh" she said quietly with a small nod.

"Then why would you do that to me?" he asked and she looked away to avoided his gaze causing him to nod and take a step back.

"Tell you what, I'm gonna finish this hole" he said as he started digging again "Save the word, and forget we ever met" he said with a grunt.

Lila turned around but stop when she saw Elliott "Wait, is that...is that dentist-chair guy?" she asked "Elliott. Your Swedish buddies got him" Diego said as Lila lifted the sheet off to look at Elliott "Oh, shit" she said before dropping the sheet over him.

"I liked that shit-muppet" she said while looking down at the ground before she quietly reach to her back.

Lila grabbed out a small bottle before glancing back at the sheet that covered Elliott "Well, here's to Elliott, I guess" she said as she unscrewed the lid to the bottle before taking a few steps towards Diego who looked at her.

"Um...I'll miss his crazy theories..." she said before she turned to Diego that kept digging "...and I'll miss sharing his bed with you" she said and causing him to stop digging and look at her.

Lila tilted her head back, pouring down some liquid from the bottle into her mouth before handing the bottle to Diego.

Diego tilted his head back, pouring the liquid down his mouth before she threw the bottle off to the side before he started digging again "We done now?" he asked.

But then Diego stopped digging ad he felt a weird feeling in his body "Oh..." he said as Lila turned her head before spitting out the liquid "Balls" he said before he felled backwards into the sand, passing out "Yup" Lila said before she walk over to him, putting her hands under his arms before dragging him away.

You found some sticks and some beautiful flowers before you made a cross of the sticks and I then decorate the cross with some flowers.

You walked over to the grave to find it filled and Diego gone "Weird" you said but thought nothing of it since you thought that he went back to get Klaus.

You put the cross on it "You were a good guy Elliott, weird but in a good way. Thank you for helping me, my husband and our family. I'm so sorry for the end you got" you said with a sob before you wipe the tear away from my eyes.

"Thank you so much for what you did for us Elliott. Thank you for everything.  You were like the father I wish I had. May we meet again" you said before you turned around and left.

---

Five blink into the apartment to see you sitting in the couch in the living room.

"Hey" he said and you turned to him "Hi" you said with a smile before you looked around "You cleaned the place up nice" you said "Thanks. I made sure it look nice and I have cleaned the blood up so nobody will realized what have happen here" he said.

"So are you okay? I know that you cared about Elliott" he said "I'm going to miss him a lot..." you said before you took a deep breath while he walked over to the back of the couch before stopping behind you. 

You tilted your head back to look up at him as he ran his finger tips down the side of your neck.

You leaned your head into his right hand, as he was trapping his hand against your neck while you smiled.

"I know what you're doing" you said "And that is?" he asked "You are trying to tickle me" you said "I just want to see you smile and hear your laugh which is why I'm trying to reach the spot where I know you are most ticklish" he said.

"Stop that" you said "I'm not doing anything" he said as he brought his other hand to the other side of your neck.

He then lay a kiss on first your forehead, then your cheek, then your ose and last your lips.

You lifted your hand up to his cheek as you sunk deep into the kiss.

Then you pulled away and you then turned around before grabbing both of his wrists "I hate you, Five Hargreeves" you said as you leaned closer to him until your noses was touching each other as you let go of his left wrist.

He smiled as his hand moved to your face, brushing his thumbs across your cheeks as you let go of his right wrist "And you're my wife and the love of my life" he said and you smiled "I guess you're my husband and the love of my life, too" you said and he smiled.

He dropped his hands from your face before he reach for your hands.

He grabbed them before he brought them up to his lips and you smiled as he kissed your knuckles.

You loved it when he does that.

You then pulled your hands from his before you got up "We can do a lot of that when we get back home. So come on old man" you said "Who are you calling an old man? You are old yourself. You are a year older than me. And let me tell you this, you actually look good at your age" he said "Just get my jacket" you said "Yes, Mrs. Hargreeves" he said as he grabbed your jacket that was hanging over a chair by the kitchen.

You and Five arrived at the alleyway where you were gonna meet the others.

You pulled up the briefcase from a dumpster as Luther ran up to them "Where is anyone?" Luther asked "You're the first" Five said "What?" Luther asked "Yeah" you nodded.

Then the three of you spotted Klaus came running at the end of the alley with his hands stretched out to the sides. He almost ran straight into the wall as he turned down the alley.

"We made it" he said as he ran down the alley before he stopped in from of you "What do you mean 'we'?" Five asked but Klaus just moved one of his hands beside his face.

The three looked confused at Klaus as he started groaning and grunting "Get out" he said almost choking out his words while letting out a shuddering grunts.

"Out" Klaus said before he put his hands to his stomach as he hunched over before vomiting on the ground by his feet.

"Gross" you said and Klaus let out a groan as he fell to the ground, still holding his stomach.

"I can't believe it. I mean, you're here" Luther said. The three of you knew that if anyone of your siblings would be late, it would be Klaus.

"We've got eight minutes left" Five said as he looked at his watch "I just had the strangest dream" Klaus said as he was laying on the ground while whimpering.

"Where are the others?" Five asked "Diego was going to bury Elliott and he said he would be here" you said before you looked over at Five who looked frustrated.

"Don't worry Honey, they will be here" you said "And if they're not?" Five asked as he turned to you "You do remember what we did to get this briefcase, do get this opportunity. Can you be able to life with yourself?" he asked a little aggressive.

Both you and Five never enjoyed killing people and you would always hold more guilt than Five. You have sometimes sob yourself to sleep every night.

You knew that if your siblings didn't show up, you would be stuck here.

You were all waiting in the alleyway without knowing that Allison and Vanya was in danger while Diego had being kidnapped.

Lila was sitting on a chair in front of the desk while Diego was sitting next to her, still passed out.

"Diego Hargreeves..." Lila said as Diego started to wake up. He let out a grunt before sitting up.

He looked at his body before he looked at Lila who was sitting next to him, looking directly at The Handler that was sitting behind her desk.

"Meet my mother" Lila said and Diego looked towards The Handler "Mother this is Diego...my boyfriend" Lila said "What?" Diego asked as he had his hands on the desk while he was looking at her before he looked back at The Handler.

"We've got a minute left!" Luther said as he slammed his fist on the dumpster "Where are the others?" Five asked "I don't know" you said as both you and Five started to look frustrated.

"What's going on, guys? Are we going somewhere?" Klaus asked hoarsely, was he was laying on the ground.

"It was a simple task. It was a simple task!" Five said as you and him walked back and forth aggressive.

"And all we had to do was be here" you said aggressive "Didn't have to fight a giant seas monster, no" Five said "Any army of mutants? Nein" you and Five said the last part at the same time aggressive.

"I can't believe this" Luther said "It was handed to us on a silver platter" you said "Could you just moan a little softer?" Klaus said as he sat up "My head is killing me" he said as he put his hands to his ear.

"Listen to me, you useless puke bag, we just blew our chance to save the world!" Five said aggressive.

Then you heard the briefcase start charging and clicking as the sound echoing around you and you looked down on the briefcase before you let out a scoff "God damn it" Five said annoyed "Shit" you said before you grabbed the briefcase and tossed it into the air.

The four of you watch as the briefcase disappeared in a soft blue light meaning that your chance of getting home was blown.

"We were that close" you said "That close" Five said with a sigh before you and Five turned around to head back towards the building, scratching the back of your heads.

"Now what?" Luther asked "Now nothing, Luther, all right?" you said aggressive "Make your peace with God" Five said aggressive "What? What about Allison and Vanya?" Luther asked "Screw them both. They should have been here" Five said.

"What about Diego? He's quite a responsbile young man, no?" Klaus asked.

Both you and Five angrily and aggressive ran across the alley before kicking a pile of boxes that was standing next to the dumpster.

"Something must have happened to them" Luther said "Screw Diego, all right? Screw everybody!" Five said aggressive "Five and I was better off on our own in the apocalypse" you said aggressive as you pointed at Five.

"Five! Y/n!" Luther shouted your names "Come on" he said and you and Five spun around, looking more aggressive "You know what, Luther? It's every siblings for themself now. How 'bout that?" Five asked before you both turned and walk towards the back door of the building before slamming the door shut.

Luther looked at Klaus who let out a sigh "Did Five and Y/n just get meaner?" he asked.

"Klaus, go check on Allison, okay? Make sure she's okay. Find the others and we'll meet back here. I'll handle Five and Y/n" Luther told him before he enter the building. 

Luther followed you and Five up the stairs, catching up to them "Hey! Guys, doomsday is coming. We gotta think of a new plan" Luther said "Don't you get it, Luther? It's over, all right?" Five said aggressive "We're already dead" you said aggressive.

"Then where are you two going?" Luther asked "We're going to do the unthinkable" Five answered "The hell is that supposed to mean?" Luther asked and you both let out a sigh "We were really hoping it wouldn't come to this" you said "Come to what, Five, Y/n?" Luther asked but you just walked into Elliott's apartment.

"Five, Y/n" Luther said but you and Five just walked into a room before closing the door.

"Five! Y/n!" Luther said as he entered the apartment, closing the door behind him "Come to what?" Luther asked as he knocked on the bedroom door, trying to get an answer out of you and Five "FIVE! Y/N!" Luther shouted but nobody answer.

Five turned to look at you "We have lost, Love. We are never getting back home. I'm so sorry. I don't think I'm going to give that life that you deserve. I'm so sorry about everything" he said "No" you said as you walked over to him.

"Don't be sorry. It's not your fault. It's not your fault that the apocalypse will happen. It's not your fault that our siblings didn't arrived. You have being the one that have saved us all. You have done everything you can to save us" you said "So have you" he smiled as he looked at you.

"I don't know what I will ever do without you" he said "I will never leave your side" you said "The two of us are made for each other. Every day I struggle to understand how I got so lucky to be able to call you mine. I don't know what I did to deserve you, but I'm never letting you go" he said "I'm never letting you go either" you said and he smiled before you rested your foreheads against each other.

You pulled away before putting his face in your hands and he pushed your hair behind your ear before he moved his hand to your cheek while you were brushing your thumb over his cheek.

You and Five felt whole when you could feel each other's touch and you felt you could be yourself, that you could let out your pain, sadness and feelings when you were with one another, so Five wrapped his arms around you.

"Promise you that you would never leave me" he said "I promise" you smiled.

"I really don't want to do this" you said "I know, me neither, but what other choice do we have" Five said "You do know how dangerous it can be, right?" you asked "I know, but if we want to go back home, we have to take this chance" he said and you let out a sigh.

"Tomorrow is not gonna be a good day" you said and he shook his head "Nope" he said "But we will get through it, together, you and me, us against time" you said "You and me us against time" he said before you rested your foreheads against each other again.
