CHAPTER TWELVE-THREE: DALLAS

---

You: "So, once upon a time there were a bunch of superpowered babies all born on the same day. Eight of these lucky little weirdos got adopted by genius millionaire who has really into umbrellas and uniforms"

Five: "He called us the Umbrella Academy. He also called us by numbers instead of actual names"

Diego: "Oh yeah, father of the year"

You: "We were a world-famous superhero family for a while, until one by one, we all grew apart and then fell apart. I suppose"

Five: "Except me and Y/n, though. We got stuck in the future. Post apocalyptic future, I might add"

You: "Did you really think I would let you go alone?"

Five: "And I'm so glad that you came with me"

You: "Of course. It's you and me, us against time"

Five: "You and me, us against time"

Luther: "And I was stuck on the moon, okay, I didn't fall apart"

Diego: "Yeah, that's debatable"

Klaus: "Hey, rehab is not falling apart. It's admitting that you have a problem"

Ben: "Problems. That should be plural"

Five: "Then dad died so we all came back for the funeral"

Allison: "Yeah, I don't know if I'd call that a funeral"

You: "And Five and I managed to jump back in time with 8 days to spare before the end of the world"

Five: "Then we realize, spoiler alert. Sweet shy Vanya had major powers"

Diego: "Plot twist"

Vanya: "You guys are never gonna let me live this down"

Five: "Long story short we really tried to stop the apocalypse"

You: "But it was not as easy as it may sounds"

Five: "And it didn't go quite as we have planned"

You: "So now we are here"

Klaus: "Wait, where are we?"

On April the 1st, 2019, the Earth was destroyed in a cataclysmic event. Billions of people were wiped out in a matter of minutes. Ironically, the seven survivors of the apocalypse were the very siblings who brought it on.

The sound of energy thrumming was heard as a blue vortex appeared above an alley and you felled out of the vortex. You reach to put your hands under yourself before your face could hit the ground with no idea where you were.

"What?" 

Where were the others

"Damn it" you turned around and looked up at the blue vortex above you, the energy was whipping around inside of the portal.

"FIVE!" you shouted, hoping that your husband would fell through the vortex like you.

"KLAUS, DIEGO!" you shouted. 

"FIVE! FIVE! SWEETIE? FIVE!" you shoted.

But instead the vortex zapped shut as it disappeared "NOOO. FIVE!" you shouted before you turned around towards the opening end of the alley "Shit" you said before looking around "Where the hell am I?" you looked around.

Then there was a quick bright light from the building behind you causing you to turn towards the building with an eyebrow rise.

But there was nothing, so you turned back towards the opening of the alleyway.

You walked out of the alleyway and your eyes widened when you noticed the area around you.

You noticed the cars that was park around the street and the people that was walking around.

The people's clothes didn't look they were from 2019 and neither did the cars.

"You fucking idiot Five" you said.

You furrowed her brows, looking around more to scan everything.

Then you spotted a newspaper that was laying on the ground by the opening in the alleyway.

You bent down before picking the newspaper up to look at the date and your eyes widened.

'14 JULY, 1962'

"This is not good" you said before looking around and you could feel your vision got more blurry and your body was sore.

The effect from the theater have appeared. 

You tried to stand on your feet but it was hard keeping balance and you almost felled but then you grabbed on to a wall with her hand. You were dizzy after everything that have happen.

"Damn it" you said before you lost consciousness.

"Kid" a faded voice said as you slowly opened your eyes to see that you were in a room.

"You are awake" a voice said and you looked towards the opened door to see a tall and skinny man with short light brown hair which cause you to panic a bit "Easy, I'm not here to hurt you" he said as he raised his hands.

"Everyone can say that" you said "Well, this is true, I'm not going to hurt you. I saw you out on the street, passed out. I couldn't leave you so I carried you to my place" he said "Where am I?" you asked as you looked around "You are in Dallas, Texas" he answered and you looked at him.

"I'm Elliott" he said "Y/n" you said "Nice to meet you" he said.

"Why did you help me?" you asked "I saw you fell through that blue light above the alley. You are one of them" Elliott said "One of who?" you asked "One of the people who felled through that blue light" Elliott said "What do you mean with 'one of the people' you mean others have come through that portal?" you asked and Elliott nodded "Yeah. Three" he said "Who?" you asked "I don't know. But come with me" he said as he walked out of the bedroom.

You raised your brow, not sure if you trust that guy or not, but he don't seem that dangerous and you could easily take him out.

So you got up from the bed before walking out of the bedroom and into the living room.

When you entered the living room you saw newspaper article hanging on the wall.

'STRANGE LIGHTS MAY BE SPACE VISITORS' was the line on it.

You then looked around at all the machines and it look like that Elliott was doing researched on something.

A scanner was standing on a table and more newspaper articles was hanging on the wall, they were all above signs of aliens.

"All those contraptions on the roof, I built them myself. I've been tracking anomalies in...in the atmosphere. Just waiting" he said "For what?" you asked "For you. For all of you. The first one started in 1960. I saw some light while hearing energy crackling outside, so I went up to the window and I looked down to see someone falling from the sky and landing in the alley. So, for the past two years, I've witnessed three energy surges in that alleyway out back. Same thing every time. A bright blue light, then something appears and then they are gone" he said "What did the people look like?" you asked and he pointed at four pictures that was taped up on the wall. The indistinct picture showed the people that have landed in the alley.

"I saw the first one. And the big one" he said "The big one must be Luther" you said "Do you know them?" he asked "They are my siblings" you answered and he nodded.

"You have not seen a young boy come through that light, around 16 years old, dark brown hair, green eyes, wears a school uniform, talk shit to people, act and talk like an adult. Can give you a killer glare. Looks innocent but can actually kill you in a second?" you asked and he shook his head "No. Is he your boyfriend?" he asked and you shook your head "Husband" you replied and he nodded again "Ahh" he said.

"Five, what the hell did you do now?" you mumbled under your breath before you looked at the guy "Listen I'm not supposed to be here, this can changed the timeline" you said "What do you mean?" he asked but I didn't answer.

"Thank you for showing and telling me this. But I better get going" I said "Where?" he asked "I don't know" you answered "Maybe trying to find those people" you pointed at the pictures "Do you know where they are?" you asked and he shook his head "Then I better get started" you said.     

 "How about staying with me?" he asked and you raised a brow "Really?" you asked "I mean why not. I don't think a young girl like you should not have a place to live and I have an extra room" he said "I don't want to be a burden to you" you said "Not at all. Beside it gets a little lonely sometimes and I maybe your husband will arrive, so it might be best that you stay nearby" he said and you tilted your head.

"Maybe I can help you with finding your siblings" he said.

There was something about Elliott you trusted, he was a little weird but in a sweet way. Beside a girl your age, alone in the 60' it's not good, so maybe it's best to stay with someone who can help you. Beside when Five show up, is best you are nearby if now he land in the same place.

"Okay" you said with a nod and Elliott smiled.

"Come with me" Elliott lead you to a bedroom "This is the guest room" he opened the door to the bedroom and you enter before looking around "I know it's not much" he said "No, it's fine" you said with a smile.

You then turned around to look at him "Are you sure that I wouldn't be a burden to you?" you asked "Not at all" he said with a smile and you turned back to look at the room.

"Do you live here alone?" you asked "Yeah, had a wife but she left because she said I was crazy" he said "Well, you are not crazy, there is a lot more that people don't know about, things that can't explain" you turned to look at Elliott. 

"Thank you Elliott" you said "Of course" he smiled.

You didn't want to imagine that all the siblings ended up somewhere and at some point in the past, alone and without knowing what happened to the others.

You want to stay here, it was safe and it was just until Five comes to pick you up.

Yes, you knew with all your heart that Five would come back.

He always did.

But you knew from personal experience that time travel was a very complicated matter and hopefully it wouldn't take another 45 years.

'25 NOVEMBER 1963'

The wind was whipping and blowing as Five felled through the blue vortex, landing on the ground in an alley.

He put his hands under himself before his face could hit the ground.

He got up before taking a small step backwards.

He realized that he was alone.

What the hell just happpen.

Five didn't remember letting go of your hand, he would never do that.

Hearing the whipping noise from above him, he looked up to see the blue vortex above him.

"Y/N! LUTHER! DIEGO!" he shouted, hoping to get a respons, but instead the vortex closed with a zap "LOVE, NOOO!" he shouted.

Five need to find you, he was scared that you would have some effect from the theater and he was scared that your body would shut down, kinda put you in a coma and it could be really dangerous if no one is taken care of you.

So he hope that you are okay.        

Then he heard distant overlapping gunshots from behind him, causing him to turn around, looking at the opening in the alley.

He furrowed his brows as he walked forwards to the end of the alley way that he had landing in.

He looked around at the scene in front of him as he could hear nearby machine-gun fire and bullets ricocheting while people was shouting indistinctly Russian.

 As he walked out of the alley, he saw buildings was on fire and destroyed. There were abandoned cars spread out with their widows bashed in, and there were bullet holes on buildings and walls while soldiers was running across the street, shooting, it was a war zone.

A loud whooshing sound came from the sky causing Five to look up and he saw two jet fighters flying across the sky and a few seconds later there was a big explosion in the distance.

Five then spotted a newspaper that was laying between rocks and bricks and he ran over to it, bending down and grabbed the side of the newspaper to read it.

"'Soviets attack US'"?" he read as the sound of a machine-gun fire and men shouting in Russian was heard.

Five got up before he stumbled forward "No, this can't be right" he said as he looked around the war zone "Gonna get you out. Keep your head down" a English soldier said to a injured man.

"Medic! Medic!" another English soldier shouted as the sound of overlapping shouts was heard.

"Hey, kid, get down!" a soldier shouted at Five as he was standing next to a tank that had slowed down before stopping.

"What the hell did we do now?" Five said as he was looking around the war zone.

Then a loud sound came from the tank behind him, shooting out a missile causing Five to jump off to the side.

The missile flew through the air, forward, but it was stopped as Vanya whose skin was pale and eyes was ice blue, floated up in midair with her arms out towards it and with her powers, she stopped the missile and it exploded causing the metal to bend backwards before it turn into a cloud of smoke.

A group of soldiers charge towards Klaus, but he lifted up his hands and the ghosts from the dead soldiers appeared behind him before he push his hands forward making the ghosts to charge towards the soldiers who all started screaming in fear.

There was a shout form the air and Luther landed on the ground next to Klaus before he put his arms out at his sides as one of the soldiers shot a missile towards Luther, hitting him in the back, making a explosion behind Luther.

He let out a scream as the explosion died out, nothing happen to Luther.

Then three soldiers arrived next to them, but they were caught by Ben's tentacles and he lifted them up before throwing them away.

"Hey" Allison said causing three soldiers to turn around and look at her. She stopped before putting her arms up slightly "I heard a rumor that I blew your minds" she said, her voice echoing as the sound waves traveled to the soldiers' ears and the three mens' head blew up before falling to the ground.

The sound of overlapping shouts was heard as some soldiers ran towards Diego who was standing on top of a overturn police car.

The soldiers lifted their guns and Diego jumped off the car, flipping around in the air as the soldiers started shooting at him.

While flipping around in the air, he control the bullets in the air making them turn around and hit the soldiers instead, causing them to fell dead on the ground.

Five then spotted you standing in the middle of the file.

Six other soldiers opened fire towards you but you stretched your right hand towards them causing the bullets to slow down, you then turned your hands making the bullets turned.

You then snapped your fingers causing the bullets to fly towards the soldiers, hitting them.

You then created a fireball before throwing towards four other soldiers

"Five! You sick son of a bitch where the hell have you been?" Diego suddenly shouted at Five causing you to turn around.

"Five, there you are. Where have you being?" you smiled.

Five was about to move forward, but then a sound of energy zaps appeared and a hand grabbed his shoulder causing him to stop and he saw Hazel with a briefcase in his hand "If you wanna live, come with me" Hazel said "Hazel. What the hell's going on here?" Five asked "There's no time to explain" Hazel said before he pointed up ahead towards the nukes that was coming from the sky "Those are nukes, old-timer" he said as the sound of missiles droning was heard and Five looked back at Hazel.

"What about my family?" Five asked worried "You can't save them if you're dead" Hazel said and Five looked at you who was looking right back at him and you sent him a smile with a nod, like you knew what he had to do "Go. I will see you again, be that good guy and hero I know you are" you mumbled.

Five didn't want to leave you, but if he was going to save you, your siblings and stop the apocalypse, so him and you could be together, he have to go with Hazel.

"I will save you and the rest of our family" Five mumbled back and you smiled "I know you will. Just go" you said "I love you" Five said to you before he grabbed Hazel's hand and they teleported away.

You and your siblings all looked up at the sky as the sound of explosions booming was heard.

When the nukes hit the ground, a huge exploding went off in the distance, they were pushed away forcefully as the nuke destroyed everything include the siblings.

The sound of energy zaps was heard as Five and Hazel appeared on the same street but everything was different, it was more quiet and peaceful.

"Okay..." Five said while looking around "What the hell was that?" he asked as he looked back at Hazel "The end of the world, November 25, 1963" Hazel answered "'63..." Five said while looking around confused before he chuckled softly as he put his hands together, looking back at Hazel.

"You know, Hazel, I'm no history buff, but I don't recall there being a nuclear holocaust" he said "No shit" Hazel said as the two looked around "What about my family? What about Y/n?" Five asked as he looked back at Hazel "Dead, like everyone else" Hazel answered "And where am I now?" Five asked "Dallas. Same street. 10 days earlier. Plenty of time to restore the timeline and save them" Hazel said before he sat down on a bench "Okay" Five whispered before he sat down next to Hazel.

"So where do we start?" Five asked "'We'? You're on your own, pal. I'm just here to keep a promise to Agnes" Hazel said "Is she...?" Five asked "Dead?" Hazel asked "Yeah" Five said and Hazel nodded "Cancer" he said as he remember the time he shared with the woman he loved "Took her quick. But we had 20 good years together. I guess forever just wasn't the cards" he said "I'm sorry Hazel" Five said with a voice that he actually cared and felt sorry for Hazel.

He didn't know what he would do if he lost you. He was very close in losing more than one.

"Beside she died she made me promise to help you and Y/n somehow, so the two of you could be happy" Hazel said.

"What about The Commission?" Five asked "I quit those assholes, remember? I don't owe them the fuzz off my peaches" Hazel said and Five looked forward and that's when he spotted three men walking towards them. The men had almost the same face, the same eye color and they had platinum blonde hair.

"Well then, who the hell are those guys?" Five asked as he got up and the three guys lifted up their guns, pointing them at Five and Hazel "Shit" Hazel said before he put something in Five's pocket "Run" he said and gave Five the briefcase and just as the men started shooting at them, Five blinked away while Hazel was shot multiple times in the chest causing pedestrians to start screaming.

Five appeared behind a car with a gasp as he was crouching down.

The sound of a electricity crackling was heard and Five looked at the briefcase to see that it was broken "How many times did Y/n and I say 'Bulletproof briefcase'?" he said before he lifted his head to peek from behind the car.

But the three guys spotted him and they pointed their guns at the car causing Five to let out a gasp before he moved his head down again.

The three guys started shooting at the car, but Five reach to blink away before he appeared on a building's roof while panting.

Five grunted softly as he got to his feet before he blink away again, appearing by the alley, he landed in.

He looked back as he heard old-timey police siren wailing and he scratched the back of his head as he turned back and that's when he spotted someone quickly moving away causing the curtain to move a bit.

He then spotted some antennas together with a camera right above the window on the roof.

He had a feeling that the person that was living there must know something, so he walked closer to the door.

He looked at the door before he blinked into the building.
