CHAPTER TWELVE: TIME CHANGES EVERYTHING

Flachback starts...

November 10th 2064

You and Five was sitting next to each other "Do you remember that, uh, little mansion just outside the city limits. Where we--" he asked as he gave you a cup of water in a silver goblet.

You nodded your head in respons as you took the drink "Yeah, I remember" you said and he let out a chuckled "Yeah, well, it turns out the wine cellar was untouched" he said "Was it?" you asked and he nodded "Yeah" he said "That sound good, we can take a glass tonight"  you said "I hope there will be shooting stars tonight" he said "Me too, and then we can---" but you sto yourself when you heard some rocks falling meaning there was someone or something leaving   

"I heard it too" you said and Five grabbed his rifle while you grabbed your gun before you turned towards the sound to see a woman with white hair, she was wearing a black dress, a gold bracelet, a little black hat, she had sunglasses on and was holding a black briefcase.

You and Five both pointed our weapons at her as she waved at us with a smile.

Flashback ends...

Five slowly woke up before he blinked a few times with his eyes to figure out where he was.

He moved a bit until he felt someone was behind him. He slowly sat up before he turned to see you sleeping with your back facing the wall.

While staring at you with loving eyes, Five lifted his hand before he removed a piece of your Y/h/c hair away from your face, then he leaned down before he lay a kiss on your cheek.

He pulled away before he stroke his hand up and down on your shoulder.

He didn't know what he will do if he ever lost you, you mean too much to him. He will lose his mind if you died.

You both kept each other going in the apocalypse, you kept each other's humanity alive and kept each other from going insane.

You both need each other and you could feel it. You have always being by other's side no matter what, for over 50 years and you have overcome everything life threw at you.

"You really love her" Luther said and Five nodded "More than anything. She is my wife, my other half, my world, my happiness, my everything, I will do anything to protect her. I don't know what I would do if I ever lost her. She has being by my side for over 50 years" he said before he let out a chuckled.

"So" Luther said, cleaning his throat and Five turned to look at him "When's it supposed to happen? This...apocalypse?" Luther asked "I can't give you the exact hour, but...from what I could gather, we have four days left" Five said "Why didn't you say something sooner?" Luther asked out loud.

"Hush, you will wake Y/n and she need rest so she can recharge" Five said.

Then you let out a yawn as you slowly woke up "Good morning Love" Five said "Good morning, honey" you said and he gave you a quick kiss on the cheek. 

"Did Luther woke you up?" Five asked and you shook your head "How did you sleep?" Five asked "Okay" you answered "Well, you did kicked me and elbow me in your sleep" he said "Sorry" you said "It's okay. I'm use to it by now and I also found a way for you to stop doing it" he said "I had a nightmare" you said "Which explain the kicking" he said.

"How do you make me stop doing it?" you asked "I just put an arm around you, pulling you closer to him and your body relax again" he said and you smiled "So you find another secret weapon to stop my issues and seizures?" you asked "I have many methods and secret weapons for each of them" he said and you smiled "I knew I married you for a reason" he chuckled.

Then Luther cleaned his throat which cause you and Five to look at him.

"But why didn't you two tell us?" Luther asked "It wouldn't have mattered" Five said "Of course it would. We could've banded together and helped you try to stop this thing" Luther said. 

"For the record, you already tried" you said "What do you mean?" Luther asked and the two of you looked down for a moment before taking a deep breath.

"We found all of you" you said quietly before you and Five looked back up at him "Your bodies" Five said "We die?" Luther asked "Horribly" the two of you answered as you and him thought back to that moment where you both found their bodies under the rubbles.

Both you and Five have never cried so much that day.  

"You were together" you said with the sound of sadness in your voice "Tying to stop whoever it was that ends the world" Five said also with the sound of sadness in his voice.

"Wait, how do you know that?" Luther asked and Five pulled out a cloth from his blazer pocket before he unravel it, taking out the eye "This was clutched in your dead hand when we found you" you said as Five was holding the eye up before throwing it to Luther who caught it before he started looking at it.

"Must've ripped it out of their head right before you went down" Five said "Whose head?" Luther asked "Like Five said, we don't know" you said and Luther turned the eye around, looking at the back of it "Well, there's a serial number on the back. Think maybe you could try---" "No, that's a dead end" you and Five said, cutting him off.

Five let out a chuckled "We tried, but the lab exploded" you said "So it's just another hunk of glass" Five said and Luther leaned forward, handing the eye to him who nodded before taking the eye.

You let out a sigh as you ran your fingers through your hair "You okay Love?" Five asked "Yeah, just a little dizzy and headache" you said. 

Then the door opened and Diego walked in "Piece of shit" he said, storming in before stomping down the stairs and walked towards you and Five "Do you have any idea what you two did?" he asked as he walked towards you and Five and Five quickly hold his arm in front of you in cause Diego would do anything to you.

But before Diego could reach you and Five, Luther grabbed Diego, pushing him back while keeping a hold on him causing Diego to start grunting and moving around, trying to get away from Luther as he held him in the air "Nope, let me---Get your ape hands off me!" Diego shouted but Luther just picked Diego more up before he squeeze him slightly "I can do this as long as it takes you to calm down" he said "Diego you might be my brother, but I will do my best in stopping you if you lay one finger on Five" you threated and Diego calm down "Fine" he said, panting and Luther placed him down on the floor again.

"Now, wanna tell us what you're taking about?" Luther asked "Our brother and sister have been pretty busy since they got back. They were in the middle of that shootout at Griddy's and then at Gimble Brothers, after the guys in masks attacked the Academy, looking for them" Diego said angry as he pointed on you and Five.

"None of which is any of your concern" Five said "It is now" Diego said before started panting "They just killed my friend" he said and you could hear the pain in his voice.

It sounded on his voice that the person was more than just a friend.

You looked at Five, you didn't knew what you would do if you ever lost him.

"I'm sorry Diego" you said with a soft voice as you looked at Diego while Luther turned to you and Five "Who are they?" he asked.

"They work for our former employer" you started "A woman called The Handler. She sent them...to stop us. Then, soon as Diego's friend got in their way, well, fair game" Five said "And now they're my fair game. And I'm gonna see to it they pay" Diego said before he walked towards the door "That would be a mistake, Diego. They've killed people far more dangerous than you" you said "Yeah, we'll see about that" Diego said as he walked out the door before slamming it behind him.

"Former employer?" Luther asked as he turned to you and Five "What's this really about? And don't give me any of this 'It's none of your business' crap, all right?" Luther said "Well, it's a long story" Five said and Luther sat down ready to hear the story.

You and Five took a deep breath before you started telling the story of how you got recruited by The Handler.

Flashback start...

You and Five lowered your weapons as you were looking at the woman.

"Who the hell are you?" Five asked "I'm here to help" the woman said and stepped closer "Tell me why I shouldn't put a bullet through your head right now!" Five said "Because...if you did, you two wouldn't hear the offer I'm about to make you two" she said before she put down the briefcase and took off her sunglasses.

"Which would be rather tragic, given your...current circumstances" she said and sat down on a brick.

"I work for an organization called the Commission. We are tasked with the preservation of the time continuum through manipulation and removals" she said "I don't understand" Five said.

"Sometimes, people...make choice that alter time. Free will, don't get me started. When that happens, we dispatch one of our agents to...eliminate the threat" she said and Five pointed the rifle at her while you lifted your gun.

"No, no, no, no. You misunderstand me. You two are not a target. You're recruits" she said and the two of you lowered your weapons "I've come to offer you a job, Number Five and Number Eight. We've had our eye on you two for quite some time. And we think you have a lot of potential. Your survival skills have made you quite a celebrities back at headquarters. That and your ability to jump through time, Number Five" she said before she looked at you "And your powers and survival skills" she said.

"You saying that we...we actually leave here. Go...Go back?" Five asked "Is this really true, we can go back?"  you asked "In return for five years of service. Once your contract is done, you can retire to the time and place of your choosing with a pension plan to boot" the woman said and you stepped up from behind Five.

"If you can alter time why not just stop all of this from ever happening" Five said "That's quite impossible, I'm afraid. You see...all of this, it was supposed to happen" she said "That's insane. The end of everything?" I asked "Not everything. Just the end of...something. So..." the woman said and stretched her arm towards us "Do we have an agreement?"  you and Five glanced at each other.

This could be good,  you and Five could get back, get a chance on living a normal life together, that wasn't in the apocalypse. get back to your family, you could both get back home and you might have chance of stopping the apocalypse. 

Therefore you took the deal

Flashback ends...

"They turned us into the prefect instrument for rehabilitation of the time continuum" you started "Or 'corrections' as they called them. We wasn't the only one. There are others like us. Beings out of time, fractured. Extracted from the lives that they knew. We don't know how they got there. But we do know that none of them was never as good as me and Y/n. They didn't realize it but we were biding our time trying to figure out the right equation so we could get back. If we could just get back, we knew we could stop the apocalypse. Save the world" Five said "So we broke our contract" you finished.

"So..." Luther said before he gave a plate of food and a cup of water to Five "You were a hitman?" Luther asked before he looked at you "And you were a hitwoman?" he asked and you nodded "Yes" you both replied as Five gave you the plate with food.

"Uh...I mean, you two had a code, right? You didn't just kill anyone. Did you?" Luther asked as he sat back down on the chair "No code" you said "We took out anyone who messed with the timeline" Five said "What about innocent people?" Luther asked "It was the only way we could get back here and protect each other" Five said and Luther looked at you.

"You can't be okay with this" he said "It wasn't about what we thought. We both had to do things we didn't agree with" you said "But that's murder" Luther said "Really didn't know" you said sarcastically "Jesus, Luther, grow up" you said.

"We're not kids anymore" Five said "There's no such things as good guys or bad guys. There's just people, going about their lives" you said "But when the world ends all those people die, good, bad, innocent, guilty. All of them, including our family" Five said and let out a sigh "Time changes everything" you and Five finished.

Flashback start...

You were 12 years old and you walking into the kitchen in the Academy to see Five "What's my little Jumpy Guy doing?" you asked and he let out a small chuckled.

"I'm making our favorite snacks" he replied "Can I get a bite?" you asked "No. This peanut butter and marshmallow sandwich is mine" he said "Come on, one bite" you said "No. If you're so hungry, made one for yourself" he said "Someone is grumpy today, is it your time of the month?" you asked and he rolled his eyes before he looked at you causing him to get lost in your eyes.

She hit me like a blinding light and I was born
And gravity won't keep my feet down anymore
If you've seen her then you'd understand

"Is there anyone home?" you asked as you waved your hand in front of Five's face and he blinked a few times with his eyes "Yeah, sorry, just thought about something" he said and you tilted your head while smiling at him.

"I forgot my mug in my room, I will be right back. Don't touch my food" Five said before he blinked away and you looked at the sandwich before smiling.

Five blinked back a minute later but only to find his plate empty and his sandwich gone "What the hell?" he asked before he turned his head to look at you who swallowed the last bite of the sandwich.

"Did you eat it?" he asked "Maybe" you said "You ate my sandwich" he said "Do you have proof?" you asked "No" he said "Then it wasn't me" you said "I don't need proof when I know that I was only gone for a minute and you were the only one left in the kitchen when I was gone. So who else could it be?" he asked "It was a Klaus" you said "No it was not" he said "It was Diego or Ben" you said and Five raised a eyebrow.

"Okay. It wasn't them" you said "I know" he said "It was a raccoon" you said "A raccoon?" he asked and you nodded "Yeah, it just came in through the opened window and took your sandwich, I told it not to do it, but it just looked at me before running away with your sandwich. I tried to stop it but it was a tough raccoon" you said and Five gave you a look while he smiled.

"I know it was you Y/n and you're gonna pay" he said "Well, you just have to catch me" you said before you turned around and ran

"Come here" he said before he started running after you.

Both of you were smiling as he was chasing you.

"You will never caught me" you said "Never say never, Love" Five said as the two of you kept running.

Five chased you through the library where Vanya was playing on her violin and she smiled as she saw Five chasing you with you were both smiling.

"Out of the way" you said as you ran past Klaus and Ben who stepped back so you wouldn't hit them.

"Where is the fire? 'Cause I have not set one yet" Klaus said "Stole Five's snacks and now he is chasing me" you said as you ran past them and not even two seconds later Five came running past Ben and Klaus.

"You're so dead" he said causing Klaus and Ben to let out a laugh "Those lovebirds, they are so adorable" Klaus said "They are. Romeo and Juliet" Ben said as the two brothers smiled.

"Okay you have had your fun" Five said before he blinked over to you, wrapping his arms around your torso so you couldn't get away.

"Got you. Are you saying you're sorry" he said "Nope" you said "I won" he said "Nope you didn't and I will never yield" you said "Well, then it's time for another round" he said "No Five, not that" you said.

She's got a smile that can shake you, vibe that can break you
Eyes that can bring the heat
But there's just one thing that I haven't told her

But Five just lifted you up before he blinked you two to his room and he put both you on the bed before he started trickling you.

The two of you were both laying on Five's bed and Five's back was facing the wall as he had his right arm around you, holding you down while he with his other hand was tickling you.

I know I love her but I'm tongue tied
I wanna wait until the moment's right
I don't wanna lose her
(There's just one thing that I haven't told her)

"Five, stop it" you said as you kept laughing "First when you tell me that you're sorry and that you yield " he said as he kept tickling you "Never" you laughed "Then I will never stop" he said as he kept tickling you making you to laugh even more causing tears to appear in your eyes.

Well, I've been holding back so much I'm in reverse
And buying her that drugstore diamond made it worse
Like the silver on her skin stood for something; a promise

Five then moved his hand to your arm pit "No, no. Five. Not there" you said but he just smiled before he started tickling you there, 'cause he knew that you hate being tickling there.

I don't wanna burn out quick if she's the one
Like the fire in between a bullet and the gun

"Okay, okay. I give up, you win" you laugh and Five stopped before you started panting.

Because she's brighter than Vegas, hotter than Hades
Cool enough to make you freeze
But there's just one thing that I haven't told her

You then turned her head to look at him "I hate you so much" you said and he smiled "I hate you too" he said and you smiled as the two of you stared into each other's eyes.

I know I love her but I'm tongue tied
I wanna wait until the moment's right
I don't wanna lose her
(But there's just one thing that I haven't told her)

"Promise me that you will never leave me" you said "I promise and I promise when I leave this place, I will take you with me. I will take you with me if I ever decide to time travel, I will take you with me. I will never leave you alone, I promise" he said and you lifted your right hand, putting it on his left cheek.

She's got me higher than a satellite
She makes everything all right
I don't wanna lose her
But there's just one thing that I haven't told her

Five just stared into your beautiful eyes as you were staring into his.

Do you know what you do to me?
I've been captured, waiting for the rapture
Am I just a fool to believe this is it, this is it?

Right there Five knew that he was in love with you, of course he have like you a little more than just a friend. But as the two of you got older, he started having a crush on you, just like you had a crush on him. Five thought it was just a childhood crush but as you two grow older, the more time you spend with each other, Five's feelings for you grew and he realized that he was in love with you.

So tell me that you feel the same
Can we say what we wanna say?
'Cause there's just one thing that I haven't told her

But he was too shy to tell you and he were also scared that you didn't felt the same way and you would reject him and it will break your friendship.

Even so you are both only 12, you have both realized and understand now what people can mean to each other and what people mean when they say love is the best feelings.

(But there's just one thing that I haven't told her)

The two of you, just stared into each other's eyes "Promise me that you will always like me" you said "What's there not to like" he said and you smiled "But yeah, I promise that I will always like you, and no matter what happens, I will always find my way back to you" he said before he put his left hand on your right cheek "We will always find our way back to each other" you said and he nodded.

She's got me higher than a satellite
She makes everything all right
But I don't wanna lose her
(But there's just one thing that I haven't told her)

The two of you then started leaning closer to each other causing your nose to touch.

She hit me like a blinding light and I was born

But as your lips were inches from each other the door opened and Klaus enter causing the two of you to pull away "Five, you..." but he stopped himself when he saw the position you and Five were laying "Oh my God" Klaus said "It's not what you think Klaus" you said "Oh my God" Klaus said with a big smile on his face "No. Klaus" Five said "Oh my God" Klaus said a little louder.

"Y/n and Five sitting in a tree" Klaus started singing "No, Klaus. It's not like that. We were just talking" Five said as both your and Five's face turned red in embarrassed.

"Y/N AND FIVE SITTING IN A TREE" Klaus said in a singing voice before he turned around and ran out the door.

"Y/N AND FIVE IS SITTING IN A TREE" he kept singing "KLAUS" Five shouted before he got up from the bed and ran after his brother to stop him before he could spread the rumor.

"Stop it Klaus" Five said as he grabbed his brother's shoulder before he turned him around.

"I'm sorry for ruin your little moment. But I saw you guys kissing" Klaus said "We didn't kiss, we were just playing" Five said "Come on, you guys are more obviously than Luther and Allison. But you guys are finally a couple, I'm so happy for you" Klaus said "We're not a couple" you said as you walked out of the room.

"We're just friends" Five said and you nodded "Natalie and Five are sitting in a tree" Klaus sang "Klaus stop it" Five said.

"What is going on here?" Pogo asked as he walked over to the three of you.

"Klaus is teasing us in that Y/n and I are a couple" Five said "I didn't knew you made it official" Pogo joked and you and Five rolled your eyes "We're not a couple" Five said again out loud.

Pogo then looked at Klaus "Master Klaus, stop teasing Miss Y/n and Master Five" Pogo told him before he looked at you and Five "And if you don't like each other like that, then don't made it so obviously. Stop denying it or hiding it" he said before he turned around walked away.

You and Five looked at each other before looking back at Klaus "You two are soo...." Klaus said "Stop it" Five said "Next time, you should put a tie on the door 'cause then we know that you---" Klaus said but stopped himself when he saw Five's angry eyes on him as he clenched his fists "You're dead" he said "Oh shit" Klaus said before he turned around and ran away "Get back here" Five said before he ran after Klaus while you just laughed.

You loved that Five was so caring, supporting and protective towards you.

Flashback ends...

After leaving Diego's place the three of you got into a car that you and Five had hot wire.

When the three of you entered the Academy, Luther went his separate way while you and Five  grabbed each other hand's before walking towards Five's bedroom but then you heard Klaus inside his room.

"Oh, boy..." he said.

The two of you looked down to see bloody footsteps leading to Klaus' room. Your eyes followed the red stains of blood on the floor to see that they started in the bathroom before going to Klaus' room.

"Something is wrong with him, let's see if he is okay" you said and Five nodded as he put his hands in his pockets before the two of you walked over to the door and Five knocked on the door "Hey, you okay?" he asked and Klaus turned around to see you and Five in the door way.

"Hey. Yeah, I just...Long night" he said and let out a chuckled but you and Five knew something was wrong, your brother was not himself. 

"More than one, from the looks of it" Five said "Yeah" Klaus said.

You knew something was wrong, he sounded broken, not himself.

"You okay, Klaus?" you asked "Yeah I'm fine" Klaus said.

"Don't remember the dog tags" Five said, looking at the dog tags around Klaus' neck and Klaus let out a grunt.

"Yeah, they belonged to a friend" he said as you could hear the dog tags jingle a bit and Five leaned his right shoulder against the door frame while you and him kept your eyes on your brother.

"How about that new tattoo?" you asked as you both spotted the tattoo on Klaus' left shoulder "You know, I don't totally remember even getting it. Like I said, it was a long night" he answered "You did it, didn't you?" Five asked "What are you talking about?" Klaus asked "You know, we can recognize the symptoms, Klaus" Five said as you and him entered the room. 

"Symptoms of what?" Klaus asked as he sat down on the bed "The jet lag. Full body itch" you said "Headache that feels like someone shoved a box of cotton up into your nose and through your brain. You gonna tell me about it?" Five asked "Your pals, when they broke into the house and they couldn't find you two, they took me hostage instead" Klaus said.

"Oh Klaus" you said.

You felt bad for him, he looked like hell. So you walked over to him before giving him a quick hug which cause him to smile "Thanks" he said "You're welcome" you said.

"And in return, you stole their brieface" Five said "Yeah" Klaus said and Five let out a chuckled "I thought there was money in it, or I could pawn it, you know, whatever" Klaus said before he let out a sigh "And then I opened it" he said "And the next thing you knew, you were...where?" you asked "Or should I say when?" Five asked.

"What difference does it make?" Klaus asked "What diff---Uh--- Okay, how long were you gone?" Five asked "Almost a year" Klaus said "A year? Do you know what this means?" Five asked "Yeah, I'm ten months older now" Klaus said "No, this isn't any sort of joke, Klaus. Hazel and Cha-Cha will do whatever they can to get the briefcase. Where is it now?" Five asked as he looked around the room, trying to spot it.

"Gone. I destroyed it. Poof" Klaus said and Five looked back at him as he made a explosion with his hand

"What the hell were you thinking?" Five asked aggressive "Five, be nice, Klaus is not feeling well" you said.

"What do you care?" Klaus asked Five "What do I care? We needed it, you moron, so we could get back. We could start over" Five said "Just...Just..." Klaus said, getting up before he walked over to the door "Where are you going?" Five asked "Interrogation's over, just...leave" Klaus said, leaving the room.

"So what is the plan now?" you asked "We need to find out how to save the world. Find out whose death could save the world" Five replied "And going back to The Commission is the best idea" you said and he nodded "Now we need to make a probability map to see whose death could save the world" he said and you grabbed a piece of paper before you started writing something down.

"What are you writing?" Five asked "A message for Hazel and Cha-Cha. Saying we have their brieface and tell them the time and place we want them to meet us, if they ever want it back" you said and he nodded "I think I know what you're plan is" he said "Two bodies. One thought" you said and he smiled before you both walked out of the room and into Five's room before you began writing down equations on the walls.
