Scary Fairytales: Aladdin

Once upon a time, there lived a poor boy and his mother. The boy was mischievous and loved spending his time playing instead of working like he ought to. The boy's name was Aladdin.
One day, a sorcerer came into their village in disguise. He claimed to be Aladdin's uncle and that he'd come to see his dear brother. Aladdin's mother tearfully told the imposter that her husband had passed away many years ago.
The imposter feigned sadness and then asked after Aladdin. His mother was embarrassed to admit that her son did not work. The sorcerer seized his opportunity.
He told them that he could help Aladdin get a job as a merchant so the next day, the two set off. On the way, the sorcerer gave Aladdin magical ring. He took the boy to a cave full of wonders where he revealed his true purpose was to fetch a magic lamp. Aladdin retrieved the lamp, as well as several jewels.
But when the sorcerer tried to kill him, Aladdin still ended up with the lamp. While he was stuck in the cave, he accidentally rubbed the magic ring and a lesser genie popped out to grant his wish. Aladdin wished to go home and the genie complied.
Aladdin brought with him the lamp and told his mother the tale who was not pleased to be deceived by the sorcerer but she didn't believe there was a genie in the ring or the lamp (as the ring genie mentioned a more powerful genie in the lamp).
She cleaned up the lamp and when she rubbed it, a more powerful genie popped out to grant Aladdin's wish. Now she believed him.
One day, Aladdin came home to discover that his mother was locking all the doors and windows in the house. His mother explained that the sultan had commanded everyone to close their doors and windows because his beautiful daughter had come out for a bath. The sultan trusted no man to look upon his daughter and declared anyone who broke the rule would be executed.
Aladdin disobeyed, however, and the second he gazed upon the princess' face, he fell in love with her. He told his mother this but she told him he was foolish because no sultan would marry his daughter to a lowly peasant. Aladdin assured her to bring the jewels he'd got from the cave and present them to the sultan.
His mother did as Aladdin asked. The sultan was pleased at her gift but there was one problem. The sultan had been set to marry his daughter off to his visor's son. The visit was clever, however, and convinced the sultan that the jewels would not be enough to satisfy the princess. The sultan agreed and bid that the woman bring much more wealth and prove that her son could take care of his daughter.
When she relayed this news to Aladdin, he brought down the magic lamp and wished for riches befitting a prince. His wish was granted. The next day, he and his mother arrived with all the wealth of royalty and presented their gift to the sultan. He was so pleased, he immediately handed over his daughter, much to the disappointment of the visor and his son.
Aladdin married the sultan's daughter and they began a happy life together. She was beautiful and the two fell in love with one another at first sight and Aladdin was a kind man who treated his servants as if they were his own family. And his mother lived in luxury her entire life.
Unfortunately, though they lived happily, it was not ever after.
The sorcerer who had once tricked Aladdin learned that the boy now had the lamp. So he disguised himself as a travelling lamp salesman. The princess didn't realize that the lamp her husband kept all those years was special so she traded it to the sorcerer for a brand new one, intending to surprise her husband.
The sorcerer used his first wish to transport the palace and everything inside it, including the princess to his home, far away. Aladdin soon found out and summoned the genie of the ring. The genie wasn't powerful enough to undo the other genie's magic but he was able to bring Aladdin to the sorcerer's hometown.
Aladdin reunited with his wife and bade she do him a favor to be able to retrieve what they'd lost. At his command, the princess dressed herself finely and met with the sorcerer, flirting with him. When he retrieved a bottle of wine, she secretly poured poison into it and the sorcerer immediately died after drinking the poison.
This allowed Aladdin to wish for everything to return where it belonged. After this, the princess learned that she was pregnant which made Aladdin and the sultan overjoyed.
Still, their happiness was only temporary.
You see, the sorcerer had a brother, who was, if even possible, more evil and more cunning than his brother. When he learned of his brother's fate, he grew angry and decided to rid himself of Aladdin once and for all.
He visited a healer by the name of Fatima. When he visited her, he killed her and dressed himself in her clothing so as to trick Aladdin. He went about, dressed as Fatima with a veil to cover his face, performing miracles until the princess called her servant to go and see what all the fuss was about.
When the servant announced the arrival of Fatima, the princess joyously bade her enter. The sorcerer's brother talked with the princess for a while, still keeping the veil from revealing his face. When the princess revealed she was pregnant, he cried aloud in joy and told her there was one way to ensure they health of her unborn child: to take the egg of a roc.
(Don't look at me. I have no clue what that is.)
The princess begged her husband for this gift so Aladdin asked it of the genie of the lamp. When the genie heard his request, he angrily warned Aladdin that he could not give him what he wanted, for the roc was his master and taking it would mean certain doom. Aladdin quickly realized he'd been tricked and that Fatima was not, in fact, Fatima.
He told his wife that he was suffering from a terrible headache and that Fatima should come and cure him. The sorcerer's brother excitedly entered the chamber, only for Aladdin to kill him by the sword. Aladdin then explained to his shaken wife that they'd been tricked.
Years passed. Aladdin and his wife lived a happy life together with their many children and when the sultan died, Aladdin took his place as sultan. Sometime later, they destroyed the magic lamp and threw it's ashes into the sea to prevent anyone else from tricking them again.
This time, they did indeed live happily ever after.
