my Least Favorite trope is when they take an attractive female actress and give her glasses and mousey clothes and have the gall to say she's ugly

i really hate those "mousey girl becomes sexy goddess bc inner beauty is important but outer beauty is what makes the movie sell" plots. theyre lazy and counter intuitive.

hint: if youre making an aesop abt how inner beauty is more important...dont pull the "uh, she has a nice personality and is smart and kind, but dont worry, shes also secretly hot!" card

ditto when they take a slim girl whos not as slim as the other characters and call her chubby.

(im using female pronouns throughout this bc it happens a lot to girl characters. works for guys too, but directors usually like to hire actual ugly or fat guys)

and when writers on here try to make their character "unattractive" but instead make her some hipster in overgrown sweaters and glasses "uwu im uggly" oh no you aint

i have zero problem with attractive characters in media...but if u gon make an ugly character, make an ugly character
