Prologue

Thrushtalon awoke with a start.

His breathing was heavy and he trembled with each deep breath.

What he had dreamt of was terrifying, he tried not to thing about his ghastly vision, but he found himself reliving it.

A group of rouge cats poured into the the clearing of camp, some tearing through the protective bramble walls.

They all were terrifying matted pelts riddled with scars, many missing tails and ears.

Most of them were drooling as if waiting for blood their jagged teeth looked blood stained and sharp, and they smelt like crowfood older than five seasons.

The worst part was as they rushed the helpless Patchclan warriors he could here the distant yowls of the other clans, begging for help.

Then, the ground cracked open, creating deep ravines in a matter of seconds, it trembled making cats fall in to never return.

But, the rouges continued to pour in, nimbly avoiding the devastating cracks that marred the clearing.

Thrushtalon was frozen in fear until he saw a snarling cat enter the nursery, he charged to help, but was swallowed up by the earth, hearing the pleas of the helpless kits as he sank into the neverending abyss of death.

Thrushtalon blinked back to awareness, and felt his fear curl up inside his chest.

He walked toward the camp exit, stopped by Heartsong on guard duty.

"What is it, Thrushtalon, you don't seem well." She asked with worry glazing over her eyes.

"It's nothing," he replied shivering,"I'm just going to stretch my legs."

"Fine" she sighed

Thrushtalon padded out of camp feeling the warm and dry Green-leaf breezes envelop him.

He was slowly lulled back into calmness, but he heard the wails of fear again, and saw the young kits begging for him to save them.

He snapped out of his safe feeling, he must check for intruders.

Thrushtalon circled the camp sniffing for any sign of cats.

He didn't pick anything up, he should patrol the borders then.

Sniffing every nook and cranny of Patchclan territory, he stopped dead when he caught a whiff of cat scent and heard rustling near the Snowclan border.

He ventured closer, freezing once more when he heard a voice.

"Is that you Thrushtalon?" A trembling voice questioned.

Thrushtalon sighed in relief.

"Yes, Hollyfrost" he meowed his words wavering.

"I'm scared" she mewed shaking.

"Did you see the attack, the ground falling apart, did you hear the scre-?" She rambled hoarsely.

"Yes." He cut he off not wanting to hear anymore.

"The gathering is tomorrow we should meet the other Medicine Cats at the Moonstone afterwards" he concluded

"Should I tell Sagestar?" She asked

"Yes, he will need to know" Thrushtalon meowed as he gave her a nod of encouragement.

"Thank you, Thrushtalon" she whispered looking a bit better than before.

They padded off to alert their leaders of the foreboding vision.
